Brother’s Best Friend
Sirius Black x reader
In which Sirius Black finds comfort in the person he least expects.
Tumblr media
The same day that Sirius Black realized his parents were Slytherins was the same day that Sirius had sworn off all Slytherins forever. It started off as a childish thing, a one-sided, unspoken attempt to get back at his parents for all of their strict rules and exaggerated lectures about the importance of his pure-blood ancestry.
When he met James Potter on his first train ride to Hogwarts, the resentment towards Slytherins grew into a shared inside joke. Something that the two of them could continuously throw around. Never mind that James Potter was from a pure-blood family as well. The joke was just another feeble attempt to get back at his parents.
And then, he met Severus Snape. And then, he met the insults and snide remarks of his Slytherin classmates. And then, he had finally decided: there was no good that came out of Slytherin.
So it’s no surprise that when his little brother, Regulus, was sorted into Slytherin a year later, Sirius was devastated. Sirius was silent during the entirety of dinner and even remained silent as he arrived in his dorm. The other boys tried not to disturb him, but they had never seen him so quiet before, and it was starting to disturb them.
“Some evening,” Peter said awkwardly, a yawn emerging from him. Remus gave him a strict look before turning his attention back to Sirius, worry evident on his face.
The silence only seemed to grow thicker until finally Sirius sighed and his words rushed out, eager for release.
“I thought he was different. This whole time I thought he wasn’t like them,” Sirius began.
“I mean yeah, Slytherins can be awful, but he’s your brother,” James replied, attempting to soothe his best friend.
“Very insightful, James,” Remus said sarcastically from his side of the dorm. He leaned back against his bed frame. “But I agree. He’s your brother. You know him.”
“I don’t think I do anymore,” he replied solemnly, his eyes sullen yet harsh.
“Don’t be like that, Sirius,” said Remus, “just talk to him.”
Sirius doesn’t talk to him the next day. Or the rest of the year for that matter. He says what he has to during the summer but when school starts, he goes back to ignoring him.
It’s not easy to pretend that Regulus doesn’t exist. He started to play quidditch. He is one of the smartest in his year. And he’s always seen with a Slytherin girl that is in Sirius’ potions class. She’s reserved and intelligent. She seems polite enough. She talks with Lily Evans. She’s even pretty. But she’s also a Slytherin and Sirius believes that’s a good enough reason not to trust her.
She’s always with Regulus. They sit together in the Great Hall. They walk in the corridors together. Sirius spots her one day leaning against Regulus’ shoulder, laughing loudly at something he said. Sirius resents her for it. He hates her for knowing Regulus.
Later that day, Sirius is walking into Potions class when he spots her talking with Lily Evans. He tries to walk past unbothered, but then he hears her mention Regulus’ name.
“Regulus and I have a bet,” she says with a laugh. Sirius tries to ignore how sweet her laugh sounds.
“Is that right?” Lily chuckles and shakes her head.
“He’s the best seeker that’s ever been. Write it down. This Saturday. You’ll see.”
“He really doesn’t think he’ll catch the snitch?” Lily wonders curiously.
The girl responds back with a small pout. “He doubts himself a lot. I hate it. But I’ll win the bet, and he’ll see.”
Sirius rolls his eyes and continues walking. What does she know? Regulus is his brother after all.
Their conversation leaves him with an irritation that follows him the rest of the day and a worry that maybe he doesn’t know his brother anymore. James has tried cheering him up, but Sirius continues his sulking all day. He hardly eats anything when they sit down in the Great Hall. He goes to bed as soon as they make their way to the dorms. No one bothers him.
The next morning, the marauders don’t even have to ask Sirius what’s wrong. He wakes up determined and explains the whole situation to them.
“He doubts himself sometimes. I hate it,” Sirius says, mocking the girl as his story comes to an end. He shakes his head furiously.
“Are you talking about y/n?” asks Remus.
“Y/n? I don’t even know who that is. Did you hear anything that I even said?” Sirius looks as if Remus has just deeply betrayed him.
“The girl you keep complaining about. She’s Lily’s partner in potions,” says Remus as if this is common knowledge.
“A friend of Lily’s is a friend of mine,” says James, a teasing smile on his face.
Sirius thinks that maybe, given a different circumstance, he might have laughed. But James is supposed to always be on his side, so he makes a face of disgust instead. “You too? Peter?”
“She’s quite pretty,” He responds with a shrug of his shoulders.
“She’s a Slytherin,” Sirius mutters, but it’s loud enough for the rest of them to catch it.
“Really?” Remus rolls his eyes, “I thought we were past all of the house prejudice or whatever you’d like to call it.”
“That’s not why I don’t like her,” Sirius lies, quickly defending himself. He pauses as he struggles to come up with another valid reason. He continues on anyway, “she’s very… assuming. How can she possibly know how Regulus feels? I’m his brother. If anyone knows him it’s me.”
The three of the boys share a knowing look.
“Sirius,” Peter speaks up hesitantly “when’s the last time you even spoke to Regulus?”
Sirius isn’t sure why that question hits him as hard as it does, but it hurts. Surely it wasn’t that long ago. They spoke a little during last summer whenever he wasn’t at James’ house…
Sirius decides that he doesn’t owe any of them an explanation. He stands up quickly and mutters a faint, “excuse me.”
Sirius’ urge to run away leads him to the front of Hogwarts’ entrance. He finds it ironic that the first thing he notices as he exits Hogwarts’ front doors is the Slytherin girl, or Y/n as she sits alone near the Great Lake.
Sirius had no time to think about the reckless act he was about to make. He was fueled by the anger of Peter’s question and the fact that he really didn’t know when the last time he had spoken to his brother was. He figured the only obvious option was to blame her. The girl with soft eyes and a determined expression. The girl sitting with her back against the tree, seeming not to notice the ruckus of the other students around her, not even noticing Sirius’ haste steps towards her as she stares into her book.
“Y/n, is it?” he says finally as he comes to an abrupt stop in front of her. In a quick second, her eyebrows furrow and her gaze is on him. Her eyes even widen a little bit.
She takes a few seconds to respond, and in all of those few seconds, Sirius can feel himself growing impatient. Before she can even finish saying yes, Sirius cuts her off.
“It’s a bit cold out here to be reading don’t you think?” his tone is harsh.
“What?” she replies confused, and Sirius almost feels bad. Almost.
“It’s just that it’s cold, and you’re not even wearing a jacket and…” Sirius’ voice begins to falter. His pride doesn’t let him stop. “I’m Regulus’ brother.”
She nods. “I know that,” she says sharply.
Sirius is immediately taken aback.
“Fine. Who are you anyway, his girlfriend or something?” he replies back with the same sharpness in his tone.
She laughs loudly enough to surprise him. He looks at her in confusion, and she shakes her head. “Who are you to ask something like that? You won’t even look at him.”
Sirius tries not to let that hurt him, but it does. “I’m his brother.” He keeps saying this. He’s hoping that after saying it enough times this simple fact will make up for everything else.
“No. I’m not his girlfriend,” she replies.
“You just seem to always be with him,” Sirius presses on, and he knows he shouldn’t, but some pathetic part of him feels like by talking to her, he’s kind of talking to Regulus.
“He’s my best friend.” With those simple words, Sirius has the daunting feeling that he has completely lost his brother. He doesn’t say anything for a few seconds, and Y/n just stares up at him curiously.
“Why are you speaking to me, Sirius?” she asks after moments of silence.
“I don’t know,” he admits because isn’t it just the truth? He doesn’t know.
Y/n continues to stare at him, and it kind of annoys Sirius until she finally says, in a calm voice, “Talk to him before the match tomorrow.”
Sirius doesn’t really understand, but before he can ask, she’s adding on.
“ ‘Good luck’ or ‘you’re going down’ I don’t care what it is. Talk to him.” And with that, she goes back to her book.
Sirius is going to talk to him. The game is about to start, and Regulus is right there. He’s going to talk to him any minute now…
Regulus is already focused on the game. Most people have a hard time understanding Regulus, but to Sirius it comes naturally. He can see the way worry flickers across his face before immediately being pushed away. He feels the urge to reach out, to comfort him. And now he understands why Y/n had asked him to say something; he understands her conversation with Lily.
The whistle blows and Regulus is about to fly when Sirius blurts it out.
“Good luck,” he says to Regulus. Regulus is undoubtedly surprised. His eyebrows raise, and he’s quiet for a few seconds.
Then, he simply nods, “Sure, you too.”
Regulus doesn’t sound bitter. The interaction between them almost feels natural. Sirius smiles lightly. Although, it doesn’t take long for the brief happiness to subside into a feeling of guilt. He spent so much time resenting his brother for something outside of his control. He has a sinking feeling that he was wrong.
He tries to find Y/n in the stands, and when he does he breathes in sharply at the sight. She is smiling so brightly that he finds it difficult to look away. He hates to admit it, but he thinks he might have been wrong about her too.

james potter x blacksister!reader who breaks down in front of him
Tumblr media
The halls of Hogwarts were silent this time of night, the only sound the occasional creak of floorboards or the soft wind brushing against the stone walls outside. James Potter had been patrolling—another night of prefect duty—when he saw a figure slumped near a window, head in their hands.
He wouldn’t have paid much attention, probably would’ve assumed it was someone sneaking out past curfew, but the gleam of dark hair caught his eye. He stopped, his heart sinking. It was you.
You and James weren’t friends. In fact, you weren’t friends with anyone, really, except your own family and some Slytherins like Barty, Evan and Pandora. Most people knew to keep their distance from the Black siblings, pure-blooded and cold. You walked with your chin high, always distant and aloof, like you didn’t care about the world around you.
But now, huddled near the window, your shoulders shook with quiet sobs. James hesitated, unsure if he should leave or approach. He wasn’t used to seeing you like this—broken.
Slowly, he stepped forward. “Hey…”
You didn’t respond. Your sobs didn’t falter, and he suddenly felt out of place. He wasn’t supposed to see this—wasn’t supposed to see you like this. But something inside him couldn’t just walk away.
“Black?” His voice was softer this time, unsure, but you still didn’t move. He took another step closer, and that’s when you finally looked up, eyes red and puffy. There was a desperation in your gaze that caught him off guard, and before he could say anything, you shook your head.
“Please…” your voice was hoarse, a whispered plea. “Don’t look at me.”
James froze. He’d seen people cry before, but never like this. Never someone so proud, so unbreakable, shatter in front of him.
You wiped your face quickly, trying to compose yourself, but it was no use. Your mask had already crumbled. You knew James could see everything now—the pain, the hurt, the cracks in the perfect image of the Black family. And for some reason, that made it worse. He wasn’t supposed to see you like this. No one was.
“Look, I didn’t mean to—” he began, but you cut him off.
“Just… don’t,” you choked out, voice shaky. “Please.”
James swallowed hard, guilt flooding him. He could leave, give you your space like you asked, but something in his gut told him that’s not what you really needed.
“What happened?” he asked softly.
You stiffened, staring down at your hands, the silence stretching unbearably. James was about to give up when you finally spoke, your voice barely audible.
“Sirius… he ran away.”
James blinked, his heart skipping a beat. Sirius had only run away from home a few days ago, but he hadn’t told anyone where he’d gone—only that he’d shown up at the Potter’s doorstep with nothing but the clothes on his back. How did you know?
You must have sensed his confusion because you let out a bitter laugh, though it was tinged with more sadness than anything else. “I know he’s with you.”
James’s throat went dry. Of course you knew. Sirius was your brother, after all. But that didn’t explain why you were crying—why the tough, untouchable Black sister had broken down in the middle of a dark corridor.
“He didn’t even tell me,” you continued, voice wavering. “He just… left.”
The words hit James like a blow to the chest. He’d always seen Sirius as invincible, but to you—his sister—Sirius leaving must have felt like betrayal. Like abandonment. And for the first time, James understood. You were left behind to deal with the mess of the Black family while your brother escaped.
You sniffled, wiping your face again, but this time your hands trembled. “I’m supposed to be the strong one. The one who holds it together. But…” You broke off, biting your lip hard, as if trying to stop yourself from crying more. “But I couldn’t. Not this time.”
James crouched down beside you, unsure of what to say. “It’s okay to not be strong all the time,” he said quietly, surprised at how soft his own voice sounded.
You shook your head, squeezing your eyes shut. “Not for me. Not in my family.”
He understood that. The Blacks had a reputation to uphold—a legacy of power, of purity. Emotions had no place in their world.
But you were just a person. A sister who had lost her brother to a world that wasn’t yours.
“I can’t hate him for leaving,” you whispered, almost to yourself. “I just… I just wish he’d told me.”
James’s chest tightened. “He was probably trying to protect you.”
“I don’t need protecting,” you snapped, though the words came out too broken to sound convincing.
Silence stretched between you, the weight of everything pressing down. James wanted to say something to fix it, but he knew there was nothing he could say. Sirius was gone, and you were left to pick up the pieces.
“He’s going to be okay,” James finally said. “I’ll… I’ll look after him.”
You looked up at him then, eyes glassy but determined. For a moment, the vulnerability vanished, and you were the strong, unshakable Black again. But this time, James saw beneath it. Saw the hurt that came with that strength.
“Promise me,” you said softly. “Promise you’ll take care of him. No matter what.”
James nodded, his voice firm. “I promise.”
Your shoulders slumped in relief, but the sadness in your eyes didn’t fade. You stood slowly, brushing off your robes like nothing had happened, though the cracks were still there, visible to him now.
Without another word, you turned to leave, but before you walked away, you paused, looking back over your shoulder. “Thank you,” you whispered.
James opened his mouth to respond, but you were already gone, disappearing into the shadows of the corridor, leaving him alone with the weight of your words.
He’d keep his promise. For you, for Sirius. Because now, more than ever, he understood just how much it mattered.

regulus black x slytherin!reader
Tumblr media
masterlist
this is part one of an ongoing series! think there will be 3 parts in total <3 no cws as this is gonna be pure angst
Being James Potter's younger sister inquired a lot to live up to. James was the perfect Gryffindor student who succeeded in all his classes, exuded confidence with his every word, had soulmates for friends and an even better girlfriend.
You, however, were almost the opposite.
You were sorted into Slytherin in your first year and although they tried their best to hide it, you could see the disappointment in James and his friends eyes as you walked over to the Slytherin table. Your parents were still accepting but there was some clear favouritism in the family, no doubt. You did well in classes however didn't ever see yourself becoming a prefect like James or being top of any classes.
You sat in potions next to your best friend, Lara. Her straight blonde hair and bright blue eyes opposed my black curly hair and dark brown eyes. You had always been jealous of her, she was the type to catch everyone's eye when she walked into a room while you just trudged in behind her.
"Do you have idea what this question means?" Lara asks you, huffing slightly as she rested her chin in her hand.
"You really think I'd have the answer if you didn't?" You joked. You glanced up at Slughorn who had started dozing off behind his desk and you smirked. "Look."
Lara mirrored your smirk and you both dropped your quills on the desk to turn around and start talking with your friends instead.
"I'm bored out of my mind." Lara groaned to your other friend Freya sat behind you.
"Slughorn says if we don't get these all finished, he's gonna give us all detention until we get them done." Freya rolled her eyes, but you could clearly see that she'd almost finished.
"Have you got the number to 42?" You asked her with wide eyes, trying to sway her in to letting you copy her. "And 43, 44, 45... and the rest?"
"Merlin your voices are retched." A voice came from a couple desks to your right, none other than Enoch Wilkes. He was a tall boy with sleeked back greasy hair and a superiority complex due to his family heritage.
"What's your problem, Wilkes?" Lara shot at him.
"I'm trying to actually do my work but all I can hear is Potter's squeaky voice in my ear." Wilkes replied with a grunt.
"She's just as unbearable as Saint Potter except dumber." Icarus Nott joined in from next to him.
"What did you just say?" You spat, standing to your feet and making your way over to them with your wand gripped tightly in your palm, willing to do anything to stand up for your older brother. There was a third boy sat with them, Regulus Black.
Regulus had always been quiet, however he never failed to be part of the horrid Slytherins who gave your house a bad name and thought they were elite causing them to look down on everyone else. He had only made a few sly comments in past years, but everyone knew his thoughts on muggle blood.
You were also a pureblood, but would never allow yourself to feel any prejudice towards anyone else.
You couldn't deny that Regulus was attractive. He looked a lot like Sirius... however his facial features were softer. His dark black hair fell onto his forehead effortlessly and his green eyes complimented his pale skin.
"You heard me." Nott mocked you, not moving from his seat. You had gained a small audience as everyone's head turned towards you.
"What an embarrassment having a Gryffindor blood traitor for a brother." Wilkes joked, not backing down. "At least Black had the right idea and cut his off, what's stopping you from doing the same?"
"Y/N, sit down." Freya begged from across the classroom, not wanting to get either of you in trouble. "He's not worth it."
"You have no idea what you're talking about." You smirked, holding up your wand and pointing it right at him.
You were closest to Sirius out of all your brothers friends. He had moved in with your family two years ago after he left his family and you'd always been there for him, especially during everything that happened with his brother Regulus. Regulus was clearly a lost soul, strung along on the same ideologies as his parents however he would send letters to Sirius every once and a while but continued to act like he didn't exist at school.
"Leave it, Wilkes." Regulus muttered. Funny this is the first time he had ever attempted to stick up for you and it was only to save his own back.
"What's she talking about, Black?" Nott glanced at him, but Regulus' eyes were set on yours as you stared each other down. You knew you would never actually say anything to expose Regulus as doing so would only hurt Sirius too, but you could sense how scared he was that you'd open your mouth.
"She's a freak." Wilkes chuckled. "Just like her brother."
This sent you over the edge as everything turned red. You dropped your wand to the floor and quickly punched Wilkes square in the nose.
"Olive!" Lara shouted from across the classroom.
You felt a pair of strong arms pulling you back as you attempted to go in for another hit.
"What on earth is going on?!" Slughorn announced and you all froze. You turned around to see it was in fact Regulus' arms that were holding you back and a brush grew on your cheeks. "Black, Potter - sit down at once!"
You both complied, with a guilty expression you made your way back over to your desk and your friends gave you an apologetic look.
"I expect to see you both after class." Slughorn continued.
"But sir-!" Nott shouted, attempting to stick up for Regulus.
"I don't want to hear it." Slughorn quickly cut him off earning a scoff from the boy.
The lesson felt like it took hours to end but you felt slightly ill in your stomach when everyone else was packing up to leave but you and Regulus sat firmly in your seats.
"We'll be in the great hall; I'll save you a seat." Lara smiled at you before her and Freya took off out the classroom and to dinner.
"Both of you have detention with Filch every night after dinner starting tomorrow." Slughorn mumbled, uninterested. You scoffed as you were way too used to detention with Filch now.
When you were dismissed, you quickly stood to your feet and attempted to leave ahead off Regulus to avoid any awkwardness. You began walking down the corridor, ready to rant to James about what had occured.
"Potter!" Regulus called from behind you. You stopped in your tracks and turned on your feet with a confused expression on your face. He approached you slowly and timidly before speaking. "I-uh. I wanted to thank you for not saying anything about Sirius and I."
"I didn't do it for you. I did it for Sirius." You mutter before turning back around and leaving him there dumbfounded.
You reach the great hall and make a B line for your brother and his friends. James smirked at you as you approach him with a sour expression on your face before sitting in between him and Sirius, your green robes standing out in the sea of red.
"What's up with you, Y/N?" Sirius smirked before patting me on the top of your head.
"I've got detention again this week." You huff, crossing your arms and leaning them on the table.
"How do you manage to get yourself into so much trouble?" Lily quizzed you, a humorous look on her face that mirrored the rest of the group.
"She takes after me, that's why." James joked but you only rolled your eyes in response.
"Yeah, apart from the brains." You sigh, leaning your head on Sirius' shoulder. You glanced over at the Slytherin table and quickly caught eyes with Regulus, who must have been staring at you. You kept eye contact for a short moment before he turned his head and acted like it never happened. You furrow your eyebrows and listed your head once again. "At least I'm the better-looking sibling." You continue, causing everyone to laugh.
"Keep dreaming, kiddo." James rolled his eyes.
"Go on then, what did you do this time?" Remus questions you.
"I punched Enoch Wilkes in the nose during potions." You say smugly causing everyone to laugh once again.
"I would advise you that violence isn't the answer, however we can make some exceptions for people like that." Remus smirked.
"Tell me about it, they're horrid." You scoff before stealing some food from James plate. "No offence obviously, Sirius."
"Go ahead," Sirius chuckled. "I had to endure it for most of my life."

(NOT MY GIF)
"Hey guys!" I said with a smile, taking a seat next to my brother and his friends at the Gryffindor table for breakfast.
"Why were you talking to him?" James asked me with a frown, my brother has forever hated the Slytherin house and as much as I can't blame him when I see the way that some of them act I also feel as if I need to defend them, seeming as it is my house.
James was devastated when the sorting hat placed me in Slytherin.
He spent weeks arguing with Professor Mcgonigal about how it was wrong and how I needed a do over because there is no way his 'good hearted and kind little sister could be one of those snakes'
I'd be lying if I said it didn't sting a little, I fit in with the other Slytherins in my year and made friends easily. I stayed away from the ones who shared the likes and opinions of people like Snape because I couldn't bring myself to be friends with people with such hurtful and outdated views.
But a lot of the people I met were nice and friendly.
But James would refuse to ever see that.
"I was taking to him because he's my friend, and we were walking to breakfast together." I said with a roll of my eyes, leaning over to grab myself some food.
"You are not friends with that snake." James said with a look of disgust.
He went to continue his complaints but Sirius cut him off.
"Evan Rosier is one of my brothers friends. Stay away from him." He said with a frown glaring over at the Slytherin table over my shoulder.
"Well even though he is your brothers friend he's also mine. I know shocking crossover for you. He's a nice guy, we do potions study sessions together and he's helped me with charms. He's a nice enough guy." I shook my head at Sirius with a frown, fed up of having the same conversation again and again.
"He's a pure blood Y/n." James said with a frown.
"And so are we, and Sirius." I said with a chuckle, looking to Remus for help but he just looked straight back down at his book.
"Yeah but we're not like them. They're mean and well snakes." James said, trying to keep his voice down despite his growing annoyance.
"They're family's made them like that. Not everyone could get away like Sirius luckily did. Evans a nice enough guy, and if he wasn't you know I'd stop talking to him."
"Yeah but-" James started before I cut him off.
"Remus help me here please." I sighed looking over at Remus pleadingly as he gave me a 'keep me out of this' look.
"Guys leave her alone, she can be friends with who she wants to be." He offered me a small smile before looking back down at his book "Now leave me out of this I'm trying to study."
"Fine fine. Anyway do you guys want to head to the library to pull a prank, I was thinking we could hex the books to make them scream if you fold the paper. Will probably make some people jump out of their skin." James said with a laugh, elbowing Sirius to hype him up about this stupid idea.
"As stupid as that sounds I need to study and since all the books in the library will be screaming I think I'll go to my dorm, I'll see you guys later." I smiled at my friends, waving at them as I stood up.
They all said they're goodbyes in return as I walked out of the hall.
I could feel a familiar Slytherins eyes on me as I left, slowing my pace down in the corridor as I heard the same familiar footsteps approaching me.
"Guess who?" He said from behind me with a chuckle, covering my eyes with his hands.
"Judging from this very shaky blindfold I'm gonna guess Regulus." I said with a laugh, turning around to face the smiling boy.
His hair was still messy despite his obvious efforts to style it, he grinned at me with that stupid lopsided smile you wouldn't expect from him if you were anyone else passing him in the corridor. A stern unemotional expression usually painting his face if he was around anyone else.
My relationship with Regulus started a few months ago when he caught me on the verge of throwing a book at some seventh years who were laughing at me over something so stupid I can't even remember what it was anymore.
He'd told them to piss off and then sat next to me, we spoke for a bit and despite my efforts to brush him off due to Sirius's warnings I couldn't help but be encapsulated by him.
Next thing I knew we were having secret meetings in empty dorms and broom closets.
"How's my favourite girl?" He asked, planting a small kiss on my forehead.
I swatted him away, taking a step to the side. I began walking again, him following close behind.
"What're you doing, someone could've saw." I said with a roll of my eyes, looking for a quite corner or broom cupboard we could duck into to talk.
"Why do you care, we have every right to speak to each other." He said with a groan, he'd been fed up of the secrecy for a while.
He was a private person, and it wasn't like he was looking for a relationship with heavy PDA but the secrecy was beginning to bother Regulus. Just the other day the head of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team asked me on a date to Hogsmead and Regulus just stood there biting his tongue as this guy just continued to flirt out of the excuses I was giving him.
He just wants people to know we are in a relationship, or at least see us together so often they don't bother asking.
But I wouldn't even let him speak to me in public.
"No we don't. I just think spent breakfast getting lectured about walking with Evan. I still haven't lived down when James saw me laugh at a joke Barty made the other week, and that's because they're friends with you. It would cause a war if James and Sirius found out we were together." I frowned at him as we slipped into a quiet corner of the castle.
He stood as close to me as he could and I found myself looking around to check no one was looking.
He put his finger under my chin, tilting my head up to look at him, taking all my attention away from worrying and onto him.
"I know your worried but I couldn't care less. What're you so scared of? James is your brother he's not going to hate you." He brushed a piece of hair out of my face and behind my ear as he spoke, leaving his hand to linger on the side of my face.
"Sirius is your brother and he seems to hate you." He frowned at that, taking his hand away and stepping back.
I quickly realised what I said, reaching out for his hand and pulling him close to me again.
"I'm sorry, that was mean. I didn't mean that. I just mean me and James have always been so close and I don't want that to change. I love him so much and I love Sirius and Remus and Peter so much as well. I can't loose them over something like this. But I can't loose you either, so if keeping this a secret is the only way I can keep all of you that's what I want to do." I gave him a small smile, holding my breath as I waited for him to respond, hoping he'd just drop the whole conversation.
"Okay I understand. More dates in broom cupboards it is." His hand returned to my face and I giggled lightly.
I looked up at his face with a smile taking in everything about him as I did so.
He was just so perfect I couldn't understand how anybody could hate him.
He leant down to plant a soft kiss on my lips, leaving me breathless despite the chasteness of it.
I smiled at him completely entranced by how amazing he was.
"What the fuck."
Sirius voice made me jump, pulling me out of the daydream I was in as I moved away from Regulus, trying to come up with some sort of explanation.
"Sirius I can explain."
"Explain what? Explain how your kissing my brother? Explain how your betraying me, one of your closest friends? Sure Y/n I'd love a fucking explanation." He glared at me with a look I'd never really seen from him before.
Betrayal.
"I just,,, Sirius." I couldn't think of an excuse, I looked between the two brothers as I weighed my options. I didn't have many "Sirius I love him. Please just let me love him. Don't be angry or turn it into something, please don't bring James into this. Please." I looked at him with pleading eyes as I felt Regulus's hand touch my shoulder comfortingly.
"Take your fucking hand off her." Sirius said with a glare, causing Regulus to back away from me. "How could you do this to me, to James. He cares about you so much he's trying to protect you from people like him. But I guess we were wrong you really are just a snake."
His words stung as I just looked at him speechless.
"Don't speak to her like that, none of this is her fault. What happens between me and you is between me and you, not her." Regulus said, stepping up to his brother.
"You don't get to talk to me like that, your the one in the wrong here not me. That's the way it always is." Sirius said, glaring daggers at him before giving me another hurt look and turning to walk away.
"Your the one who left me! Not the other way around." Regulus said, voice cracking at the end of his sentence.
Sirius stopped for a second before continuing to storm off without turning back around.
~~~
The next morning I walked to breakfast with Barty and Evan on my one side and Regulus on my other, holding my hand with a small smile.
Despite the drama of yesterday and the sinking feeling I had all night the weight of the secret had been lifted off both of our chests and it was nice to be able to be together in public without worrying.
I glanced over at the Gryffindor table, hoping to take my usual seat.
I saw the eyes of mine and Regulus's brother staring at me with daggers. I went to take a step towards them, dropping Regulus's hand but Sirius took the book that Remus was reading and slammed it into the empty seat next to him. Earning an annoyed and disapproving look from Remus who then looked up at me with a supportive smile.
I offered him a small smile back before sighing at the other boy's behaviour.
Regulus noticed and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, leading me over to the Slytherin table.
I focused my attention back on my friends as Barty continued telling some crude joke, trying to cheer me up a little.
~~~
"I'm sure they'll come around. He's your brother, he loves you." Regulus said whilst running a hand through my hair.
We were cuddling on the floor of a study room in the library, surrounded by books as we chatted and helped each other with potions homework.
"It's been three weeks and the only one of them that's spoken to me is Remus and that's only when we bump into each other. James is avoiding me like the plague, Sirius looks like he's about to kill me and Peters afraid to talk to me as if he'll get excommunicated as well if he does." I sighed, scribbling the notes I was writing out since I'd gotten distracted and lost what I was trying to write.
"They're just adjusting, this is new information they just need time." He kissed my forehead before leaning down to kiss my lips properly, causing me to smile again.
A cough from the door broke us apart.
"Am I intruding?" He asked, leaning against the door frame with a frown.
"James! Hi, your speaking to me?" I said with a small smile, getting out of Regulus's hug and onto my feet, walking over to him.
Regulus looked back down at his book, pretending to study and not listen to the conversation.
"I figured we should talk, I think this is the longest we've ever been apart. I just wanted to clear the air I guess." He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
"I've missed you."
"I've missed you too."
"I'm still beyond angry at you though, how could you date someone like him and not tell me." He said with a sigh, pinching his nose.
"Someone like him? I'm so fed up of you speaking about my friends and boyfriend like they're these evil people before you've even met them! He's a loving, caring, sweet boy who I love and who loves me. He just happens to come from a shitty family with shitty ideals. The exact same one your best friend comes from may I add. I'm sorry I kept this a secret from you, I was scared of what your reaction would be and obviously I had a right to be. But I will not apologise for being with him and loving him because I have every right to. I want nothing more than for us to be close again and to hang out like we were but if you can't deal with this then I'm sorry but I'm not going to break up with him over it, so it's you that's going to loose me." I watched his face, searching for some reaction but there wasn't one.
The room went silent for a second as James just stood there staring at me.
"Alright." He said, standing up straight and clearing his throat.
"Alright?"
"Alright. Your important to me, I can learn to get over it. No matter how gross it makes me feel."
I chuckled lightly and hugged him, feeling like a weight had been taken off my shoulders knowing we weren't fighting anymore.
"Are you going to introduce me to lover boy then?" He asked with a strained laugh.
He was trying his best.

Chapter 1: Summer Breeze
2 years ago - Summer 1974
Every summer holiday, your parents would take you on some elaborate vacation to a different place. This summer was no different from that, except that they’d contacted some of their old friends in England to plan a trip together. Your father was set on making you more fluent in English and had the brilliant idea to force you onto making some English friends.
While you weren’t too excited about spending your summer with a pure-blood family, since your mom had not-wizarding grandparents, you decided you were not going to be a snob and actually try to make some friends. Your parents never told you that the Blacks didn’t know about your mom’s ancestry though, especially after your great-grandmother made a huge effort to hide that side of the family when the racist stuff started getting worse. It wasn’t a secret to you, only to the rest of the world.
“Are you ready sweetheart?” Your mom asked, looking stunning in her white beach dress.
You closed your suitcase and nodded, walking towards her and your dad in the centre of your living room. You stood in a circle and in the blink of an eye apparated in a completely different place. You were in the middle of a giant Lobby, looking straight toward the front desk. It was an open space, there were fountains in the centre and large logs of wood holding a stunning ceiling with floating balls of some wood-like fibre, you could hear the waves crashing onto the shore somewhere in the distance. It looked elegant yet rustic at the same time. On the side of the Lobby, a metal plate spelled
Mayan Occultum Hotel The #1 Hotel for Witches and Wizards in the Caribbean: Costa Maya
Followed by 5 shining golden stars that spun around every couple of seconds. Your father had his head up and looked around to try and find his old friends.
Sirius had been dragged to this. While to anyone a vacation in the Caribbean might sound like a dream, to him it was no other than an absolute nightmare, not because he disliked the beach, in fact, he quite fancied the idea of spending some time relaxing under the sun after the finals, the issue here was that he wasn’t going with his friends, no James, No Mooney, no Wormtail. No, he was on a FAMILY vacation, which meant he’d have to spend like 2 weeks locked up in a hotel in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of people that hated him. He threw in as many muggle-like clothing items he’d gotten from Andromeda into his suitcase, just to spite his parents and hopefully keep the other wizard family, the one that had the brilliant idea to invite his family to the hotel to come along with them, at bay. He was not interested in making new friends, he was not interested in talking to any that were of his parents at all. After all, they probably would be no other than a bunch of Slytherin snobs.
By the time his mother called him down to the chimney to travel through the floo network, he’d even made sure to add in a pair of Doc Martens to his suitcase, the most punk thing he had gotten his hands on thus far, all thanks to Moony who’d showed him how to order things from a catalogue. He was wearing a leather jacket, ripped black jeans and a pair of Converse shoes, not a very beachy outfit, was it?
When his mom saw him she almost ordered him to go back upstairs to change but Orion said they were late and basically pushed Sirius onto the chimney. He was the first to arrive, Regulus was next, with a very suitable wizard attire, his parents had come soon after.
Once your dad spotted Orion among the crowds he went straight to greet him, your mom followed alongside him and you lagged behind just a bit.
“It’s wonderful to see you again, Orion, you look as dashing as the last time we met,” your father said.
Orion chuckled lightly “I could say the same about you Silas! This must be Avis,” he said as he turned into your mother “I remember as if it was yesterday when you wrote me that you’d found the love of your life.”
Now it was your father who chucked “Walburga,” He nodded towards her, she set her hand out and he gave a courteous kiss. Had they forgotten to tell you were meeting royalty or something? Your parents were rarely this formal with his friends.
Regardless of the odd formalities, you stayed behind them as they caught up, “These are my children,” Orion said pushing forwards two boys, one dressed as a wizard and one with very muggle-like clothes, “This is Sirius,” He pointed at the taller boy, “and this is Regulus,” he said pointing at the smaller one.
Up until then Sirius had maintained a disagreeable face but had been polite enough to your parents so as not to seem like an ass, at least they weren’t overly dressed, they looked like a normal family on vacation, not like they were going to the queen’s wedding at the beach. But his expression changed when your mom moved to the side and he saw you for the first time.
“This is my daughter, (Y/N),” Your father said, placing a hand on your back and pushing you just slightly forward.
“You’ve got yourself a beautiful young lady, Silas, why have you been hiding her behind you?”
“Our (Y/N) is a bit shy,” Your mom excused.
“Just like our son,” Walburga said as she placed a hand on Regulus’ shoulder, with a huge suspicious smile growing on her face. You would’ve taken a step back had it not been for your father’s hand still on your back, Sirius noticed. He’d straightened his back right after you appeared in his field of view, he almost felt self-conscious, of his outfit (probably because of how hot it was), of his hair, he hated feeling that way, but there was something about you, he couldn’t quite put his finger on. Curiosity, it had to be that. He was curious about you.
You responded with an awkward smile, by then your father was already pulling Orion toward the front desk to check in.
“So (Y/N), What year are you in?” Walburga asked, you couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she was, in a dangerous sort of way, sharp features, a smile that even if it looked kind, hid something behind it. Like a mermaid luring you in before she drowns you, you thought.
“I’m starting my 4th,” You replied politely, trying to hide how intimidated you felt while talking to her.
“Oh,” she said, sounding almost a little disappointed “Like Sirius.” Had she said her child’s name with disdain or was it just your imagination? Perhaps it had something to do with the way the boy dressed.
“I’m sure they’ll become great friends,” your mom said looking at you, then at Sirius and then back at you.
Walburga nodded but did not look very happy with the idea of you making friends with her older son. Regardless, you’d been interested in talking to the boy the moment you spotted him from the distance, he looked like the vocalist of a rock band. If it had not been for the fact that your parents introduced you to him, you might have lived on assuming he was some sort of celebrity.
In the midst of the awkward silence your father and Orion came back. Your father smiled towards you, almost apologetically “Sweetheart there is an event for couples on the other side of the hotel, Orion and I thought it would be good to spend some time there to catch up, would you mind exploring the rest of the hotel with the boys?”
Well, there goes your family vacation, makes sense after all, your father had been looking for an excuse to move back to England for a while, maybe he’d talk to Orion about the ministry jobs available, Orion did have the politician look going for him. You forced a smile “Not at all Dad, it’ll be fantastic to get to know them,” you hoped that did not come out as ironic as you meant it. Although Sirius' snicker from behind gave you the impression it was not like that.
Your dad handed you and the boys a map each “We’ve enhanced them, that way we can always find you.”
Your smile only tightened but you kept it until they were out of sight. Once you made sure they were far enough you pulled your wand out and murmured “incendio,” causing your map to slowly burn itself, you let it drop once the fire was too close to your hand.
“Did you just use magic? Aren’t you 14?” Regulus asked with a frown.
You turned to him with a smile “There are many qualified wizards around us,” you responded opening your arms to gesture at the amount of people surrounding you “Besides, this hotel is part of the Occultum line, anyone that has studied at least until year 2 is permitted to use magic–” After hearing this words Sirius used incendio to burn his map as well, you raised your eyebrows towards him and then continued “–that’s why my parents picked it, they wanted me to spend some time practising spells for the next year.”
Regulus only settled his map on a nearby suitcase that was soon sent flying away, presumably towards its own room, proving how unnecessary the magic you’d both used had been “I heard there was an orchestra at noon, maybe we can go there?” He suggested.
“Sure, I guess…” You said before grabbing a pamphlet that mentioned all the activities the hotel had going on that day, but one seemed a tad more interesting “What about his one tho?” You said pointing at something written on the paper.
“A muggle movie screening?” Regulus asked with a grimace, Sirius, on the other hand, seemed a lot more interested in it.
“Let’s do that! Sounds fun!” Sirius decided, took the pamphlet from your hands in an action that would’ve been rude had he not done it with such grace, and started walking towards the direction the pamphlet indicated.
“Not sure Mom and Dad would like that,” Regulus argued as the two of you followed, lagging behind Sirius only slightly.
“Of course, they wouldn’t,” You agreed with him, but caught up with Sirius soon after “Regardless, dear Reg, is not like they’re going to know, we all got rid of our maps.”
His frown didn’t leave his face even after he caught up with you, walking by your side, instead of his brother’s. Weird, you thought.
“And don’t even think about telling dear mommy and daddy about it Reggie!” Sirius warned.
Regulus didn’t fancy how quick you’d gotten comfortable with giving him a nickname, regardless he decided to go with it, it was probably better to stick to Sirius to make sure he didn’t cause some mischief that would have the three of you grounded for the rest of the summer, or your lives, whichever came first.
The three of you arrived at the “cinema” area quickly enough. “Well, even if the movie is bad, the experience will be authentic.”
“You’ve been to a cinema?” Asked Sirius impressed.
“Last summer while I was in New York,” you explained, “very similar to this one, ‘bit more run down.”
“And your parents allowed you?” Asked Regulus, almost judging.
“Perhaps they would’ve If they’d known,” you replied with a mischievous smile.
The three of you walked to the stall and asked the lady attending to give you 1 large bowl of popcorn and three butter beers. The lady grabbed a large bucket and threw some kernels inside it, followed by a block of butter and a sprinkle of salt, she then murmured “calidium.” Hot air started coming from her wand, heating the kernels and having them pop in front of your eyes.
You leaned in closer to Regulus and whispered “They didn’t have that in the cinema I went to.”
The lady continued with her task and started serving the butter beers when Sirius decided to speak up.
“What’s the sorting hat popcorn?”
“You spin the thing, and a block of candy will come out, we add that to the corn before popping and when it does, it becomes sweetened popcorn with the colour of your house, it’s inspired by the Hogwarts sorting hat,” She explained.
He nudged you, “You should try it, see which house you’d be in if you studied with us,” He said with a smile.
“That’s ridiculous, random candy cannot be as wise as the sorting hat,” Regulus complained.
You shrugged “Seems like a fun deal,” You said, walking towards the fun-looking machine and spinning the wheel. A dark block of candy came out and you handed it to the lady. After she performed the same spell as last time, minus the salt, the popcorn started to pop, turning into different shades of grey, gold, green and silver. You turned to the boys “Which house is that?”
“Seems like you’re in between,” the lady replied. “The popcorn is not as accurate as the sorting hat I’m afraid.”
“In between what?”
“Slytherin–“ started Regulus.
“–And Gryffindor.“ finished Sirius, the air seemed to tense up in that minute and you just had to do something, so you threw your fist inside the bucket and grabbed a couple of them, popping them in your mouth.
“Who cares? I highly doubt I’ll ever be in Hogwarts anyway,” You said as you grabbed one of the buckets and your mug of butter beer. “Can I also have some of those?” You said pointing toward the every flavour beans, the lady nodded and handed you a box.
“The movie starts in 15 minutes,” said Regulus after looking at the time in the giant magical clock.
“Excuse me, what’s a magic projection?” You asked the clerk near the door.
“It’s the movie, but with special magical effects, like things that come out of the screen and several other effects, it’s immersive,” he explained and you nodded, definitely not like the muggle cinema you’d been to before.
“I didn’t know such a thing existed.”
“It’s a program in development, a very talented new-maj called Drey started bewitching films just 2 years ago, they became very popular in the industry, and this is one of her newest projects.”
Before Regulus could open his mouth Sirius spoke “That sounds fantastic! Can we walk in already?” He asked with the most charming smile you had ever seen and after the clerk nodded he dragged you both inside.
“I’m still not fascinated by this idea,” Regulus complained.
“Don’t be such a party popper Reg,” You said, throwing a popcorn at him. He brushed it off his coat and started looking at the ads on the screen.
You then threw one in the air and caught it with your mouth, it’s something you’d seen muggles do in the theatre you had been to last year.
“Shoot one,” Sirius said, you shot a popcorn and he’d easily caught it, he then winked and motioned for you to send another one. You did, but the third time you grabbed an every flavour bean instead, he also caught it and bit on it with ease, grimacing right after.
“Treason!” He said after forcing it to go down his throat “I demand her head!” he added while exaggerating his expressions in a very Alice in WonderLand Queen of Hearts-like attitude, then he relaxed again “That was awful, and no warning either!” You just laughed in return, “no wonder the popcorn wanted you in Slytherin” he said, Regulus rolled his eyes.
“What flavour was it anyway?” You asked, to drive the conversation away from the house topic, which clearly was a sensible one.
“Your mom’s,” he replied. After understanding the implication of his answer you gasped and playfully hit him on the arm “Sorry, sorry, It was something like sewer water or something, one of the worst I’ve had in my life.”
Regulus looked at the box and then at you “You want one too?” You asked politely, while there seemed to be some kind of tension between the two boys, neither of them seemed particularly evil, or mean, if anything Regulus was rather shy compared to his loud brother, almost like he did not want to get on the bad side of his parents, something Sirius didn’t really seem to care much about. He quietly nodded to respond to your question and you shot one towards his face, it unfortunately didn’t land on his mouth and fell to the side. He was about to call it off but you didn’t let him. “It’s ok if you don’t get it the worst I’ve had in my life.”
“Peaches,” he replied with a smile.
“Unfair,” Sirus said as he crossed his arms and took the box from you “It’s your turn.”
“I’m terrible at catching with my mouth,” you warned, but he threw one at your face anyway. It landed on your eye, thankfully you closed it first.
“Shit, I’m sorry,” He said, grabbing your face with his two hands to check if you were ok. Did he not know about personal space? “You OK?” He was so close you could smell his breath, it was minty and fresh, despite having had popcorn already.
“Yeah, I’m good,” you said, shaking him off and picking the jelly bean from your shirt, where it’d fallen after attacking you “Got fast reflexes,” you said before popping it in your mouth, you grimaced.
“What was it?” Regulus asked.
“Lime I think, it was very sour,” you said, turning towards him “Guess you’re the lucky one between the three of us.” Regulus smiled awkwardly as a reply and then the screen turned on.
A lady showed up on the screen “Welcome, witches and wizards, this is the newest rendition of the magical cinema series. Welcome to this incredible adventure in which you will face a terrible creature, the dangers of the sea and the world as told from a muggle perspective. There will be a lot of water, hope you brought your bathing suits.” She disappeared shortly after and then the titles started rolling in.
It was actually a beach movie, funny when you remembered that the beach was just a minute's walk away from where you stood. And it was definitely NOT like an ordinary muggle film, there were splashes of water in your face, things crawling on your seat, smoke, smell and even the shark would get out of the screen and swim all over the room. It was thrilling, to say the least.
When the move was over the three of you were soaked, the boys had their fluffy hair clinging onto their faces as you walked out of the theatre. But they also looked happy, Sirius was thrilled, unsurprisingly, but even Reg seemed at ease, even if he had gone to a “muggle thing”.
“We should go see the beach now,” Sirius said.
“Just hope Larry Vaughn is not the mayor here,” you responded and cracked a laugh from the two brothers.
The three of you then walked towards the beach area, there were lounge chairs with umbrellas on top, some beach beds and a stand where you could ask the house elves to bring you different special drinks. As you were sitting down in one of the chairs you overheard some wizards passing by. And you couldn’t help but to be enthralled by their conversation. Regulus was sitting by the end of the bed, looking wearily at the sea and Sirius was taking off his jacket and laying it on the back of the bed for it to dry with the wind, he was rocking a David Bowie shirt underneath. “Hey (Y/N) do you want anything from the–“
“–Shhhh,” you said as you gestured for him to listen to the conversation as well.
“Yeah, the ziplines were amazing, it’s fantastic the hotel counts with muggle transportation all the way to the parks,” one of the wizards said.
“Do you think we should go again,” asked the other one.
“No, Mom said we’d go to the ruins tomorrow, something about magical vestiges or whatever.”
That’s when you stood up “Hey!” You said with a smile “Sorry, we kinda overheard you talking about the… what did you call them? Zip lines? We were wondering what park you were referring to.” You really could be charming when you wanted to.
“It’s Xplore,” one of the boys replied.
The other grabbed his backpack and handed you a brochure “I took this one from the park, maybe it helps,” he said with a bright smile as well.
“Thank you, you’re a darling,” you said before going back to your beach bed, sitting on the side, next to Sirius, Reg was still sitting on the end of the bed, but he clearly did not like where the conversation was going.
“You even got them to give you a brochure?” Sirius mused.
You shrugged and set it on the centre of the bed, opening it up just to realise it was in Spanish.
“Reg speaks some Italian,” Sirius said motioning towards his brother.
“I’m not translating any muggle propaganda.”
“It’s NOT propaganda,” you argued, “regardless I came prepared,” you said as you took out your wand, waved it and whispered “tradussere.” The letters of the page started changing and soon enough it was all in English.
“I thought you needed to speak the language to be able to do that,” Reg said.
“You do, and I can only manage to make it last a couple of minutes, so we better hurry,” you replied.
XPLORE Jungle adventure park with zip lines, amphibious vehicles, whitewater rafting and underground rivers. Prices start at $1500 MXN Experience a true adventure on your trip to Mexico by flinging through ZIP lines, swimming on underground sacred rivers and riding amphibious vehicles in the Mayan rainforests.
On the brochure, there were also photos with people wearing climbing gear and helmets. People swimming in dark but beautiful cabins, it really looked like an adventure-filled experience.
You and Sirius gave each other a look after reading “WE HAVE TO GO,” you said to each other at the same time.
“No, we don’t HAVE to do anything,” said Reg “In fact, we CAN’T.”
“Come on Reggie, it sounds super fun,” you argued, trying to convince him.
“Mom and Dad would kill us before letting us go,” he reasoned with Sirius “You don’t need to make things worse between you and them.”
“I do, especially if they act like racist bastards,” Sirius bit back defensively.
“Sirius,” Reg said with pain in his eyes, clearly he cared about his brother, but Sirius seemed to be too pissed off to even consider that.
“I…” you thought about it for a second “They don’t have to find out…”
“What?” Reg asked, turning his face to you.
“We just have to pick a day that’ll be very busy for them and go then, one with many activities. Besides I’m sure my father and yours are just so eager to catch up that we won’t see them much this summer…”
“I’m not gonna do it,” Regulus said with conviction “It’s a terrible idea, you shouldn’t do it either,” You were far too excited to notice the fear in Regulus' eyes, had you been more observant, maybe the mess you’d get into later could’ve been avoided.
“Clam down Reggie, it’ll be in and out, they’ll never find out,” Sirius reasoned, “We need to be perfect in picking the day,” he said turning towards you.
Regulus denied with his head and pulled a book out of his bag as you and Sirius continued planning your escapade.
You’d be in charge of the money exchange process since you already had done it before and knew how the entire process worked, Sirius would make fake muggle passports for the two of you, so you could get rid of the parental signs and age requirements they ask for in the park, Regulus, as he’d said before, would stay, but he’d make sure to cover for you in case you parents started looking for the two, he was still against it, but you had convinced to at least do that for you.
After days of careful planning, the opportunity finally presented itself, your parents would have a very busy schedule with some magical presentations happening at the hotel and the three of you would have the day to yourselves.
“So… tomorrow, we have everything?” You asked Sirius.
He nodded “Fake passports, the money, the bus that’ll take us there. We’ll depart at 7, the park opens at 11 because it’s a Tuesday, but we’ll be dropped off at the city and from there, we have to take a taxi or something to get to the park.”
“Perfect.”
“You know, you can still call it off,” said Regulus, peering from his book, “At least consider it tonight.”
The two of you turned towards him, every time the subject came up, Regulus would say something similar “It’ll be ok Reg, just promise you’ll cover for us,” you pleaded.
He took a deep breath but turned his face towards you and nodded unconvinced “Just be very careful, you don’t know how angry our parents can get.”
You took that as an exaggeration, after all, Sirius had played it as such for the longest time. You couldn’t have been more mistaken. You should’ve listened. But the idea of a day full of adventure next to Sirius was just too intoxicating for you to pay attention to the alarm system activating in your head, after all, the minute you’d met Walburga you’d known something was wrong with her.
“We’ll be fine, Reg, stop acting like a chicken,” Sirius said, diverting your attention again.

The Family (Part 1)
Regulus Black AU
Request: Can you write a story where Regulus and the reader have been best friends for years. After Hogwarts, they move to France and get married without telling The Blacks? After being away a few years, they come back and surprise everyone.
Parings: Regulus Black x Reader
___
“You know that my family isn’t friendly…right?”
You looked up from your dressing table. Regulus sat on the bed looking at you with a slightly worried look.
“Like I’m concerned. I can be unfriendly too. Let fire meet fire.”
You chose to ignore the little wince that your “husband” gave you. It was no secret that Regulus was worried about facing his parents after eloping. This was the most “un-Regulus” like thing that he had ever done in his life. Meeting the repercussions of his actions was now beginning to worry him.
It had been nearly three years since Regulus had seen or talked to his family. The two of you had been hiding out in France. After moving back to England, it was time to face the proverbial music.
“Y/n, I really don’t think that you know what you are getting into. My parents aren’t like your parents. Mine are deranged and…chaotic.”
You put your brush down before moving to settle yourself on Regulus’ lap. Reaching out you twirled your fingers around one of the curls that was about to fall into his eyes.
“Regulus, we have been best friends since we were 11. I know all about your family and their…ways. It's going to take a lot more than I am the almighty Walburga Black to scare me off. Granted, I do wish that I could have a mother-in-law to do fun things with but, hey, you get what you get. You, my love, are worth whatever those nutcases have to throw at me.”
You were relieved when Regulus smiled. It wasn’t often that a smile graced his face but when it did, your heart melted.
“Maybe, if I’m l lucky, mother will fall over dead from a heart attack and the rest of the family will just spontaneously combust.”
Regulus commented with a smile. He knew what he was getting into. Regulus knew that his family was about to have a fit when he brought his new “wife” home. He knew that evening’s dinner was bound to be a fiasco. You were the absolute last person that Walburga wanted Regulus to marry. She hated the fact that the two of you were best friends. The literal only reason why she finally shut up about it was the fact that you were a Slytherin and a pure blood.
“If you must be friends with that girl, fine. It isn’t like you are going to marry her one day.”
Regulus had never forgotten that comment from Walburga. He had been 13 at the time and told his mother that you were his friend. He had no intention of stopping being your friend. It didn’t matter how angry it made his mother. Regulus had banked on his “being his mother’s favorite” card to keep her from beating the stuffing out of him after that comment.
To Regulus’ relief, Walburga stomped off muttering to herself about wondering why her sons were so obsessed with the Potter children. She just couldn’t understand what was so fascinating that Regulus and Sirius couldn’t say no to. At the moment, that was enough for Regulus.
Now, however, things were different. Regulus had fallen in love with you. After a completely “innocent” kiss at 15, he was hooked. There would be hope in Regulus ever wanting to stay away. He couldn’t…not even if he tried.
The following years were full of Regulus keeping you away from any member of his family. No matter how many times you told him that you were ready to officially meet them and rip the “bandage” off, Regulus always said no.
“Reggie, I hate to break it to you but no one will be dropping dead of any heart attacks. Besides, your mother should expect something. We are always together. One would think that with as smart as she “claims to be”, she would have figured out that we have been together since 5th year. Like it or not, she will just have to get over it.”
“I hate knowing that I am taking you into that lion’s den.”
Leaning forward, you placed a soft kiss on Regulus’ lips. You hoped that some kind of physical contact would calm down his raging mind.
“Regulus, I want you to hear me. It will take a lot more than your family to scare me off. I knew what I was getting into when I said, I do. I know your parents aren’t like my parents. They will just have to accept that we are in love. If they can’t…then that is on them. That won’t be our problem.”
“But we have two things that will be their problem.”
Regulus commented as his grey eyes flickered to the corner of the room where your twin daughters sat playing. Both girls were not the least bit interested in the conversation that their parents were having. You looked at your daughters sympathetically before turning back to Regulus. He didn’t have to say it for you to know this was the other source of his panic.
“Maybe knowledge that they are suddenly grandparents will take them out.”
You suggested with a smile. Regulus couldn’t help but smile as you got off of his lap.
“I have to keep them safe from mum and dad. I don’t want them pushing their ideals on Matilda and Rose.”
Both girls looked up and gave Regulus matching little smirks before going back to their toys.
“Regulus, I have known you for a long time. I know that you won’t let them hurt the girls.”
Regulus was quiet a moment as he watched Matilda and Rose play. He coudln’t help but wonder why his own father wanted absolutely nothing to do with him until he had gotten older. Regulus wanted nothing more than to be a part of whatever it was his daughters were doing.
“What if being around them makes me act like…him?”
Regulus questioned. You moved to stand beside your husband. Reaching down, you wrapped your hand around his and squeezed gently.
“The fact that you are even worrying about it tells me that won’t happen. If it were your father, he would never even have that thought. He would just be uncaring and believe that children are to be seen and not heard.”
Before Regulus could comment, the doorbell rang.
“That will be your brother.”
Both twins' heads popped up as they stood up to toddle out of the room shrieking Sirius’ name.
You moved to walk out of the bedroom to answer the door but stopped to look back at Regulus.
“I mean it, love, you are nothing like your father and you won’t become him. Now let's get this exciting evening over so we can have something to laugh about later.”
Walking downstairs, you smiled seeing Sirius holding both Matilda and Rose. Both twins were trying to look through his shirt pocket for the lollipops that he always brought them.
“Mine!”
Matilda shrieked before taking the lollipop out of Rose’s hand. This resulted in Rose screaming “mine” right back at her sister. Sirius looked between both toddlers and sat them down. He handed each girl a lollipop before shaking his head.
“You both get one. No need for the yelling.”
“Thank you”
Matilda muttered before going to sit down at the little table in the corner. Rose patted Sirius’ leg and went to join her sister as Sirius started trying to wipe some sticky substance off of his face.
“I don’t want to know what that is.”
He commented as you handed him a wet cloth. Chuckling Sirius cleaned the gooey spot off before giving you a smirk.
“I never thought in a million years that my neat-as-a-pin brother would be open to being a father. I thought he would barf the moment that a kid drooled on him. So…are you two really going to subject yourself to a delightful dinner from hell with Norma and Norman Bates?”
You nodded.
“Its best we get this over with. The quicker we totally rock their words the faster it will be over>”
Sirius winced.
“I don’t think it will be that easy, love. So, how is Regulus handling it?”
“Like I’m about to fall through thin ice on a pond.”
Regulus commented as he walked into the room pulling on his suit jacket. Sirius turned to face his brother and gave him a sympathetic expression.
“Maybe she will have a heart attack? I mean telling her that you married Y/n and that you have kids will be a huge shock. What if she just kills over at the dinner table? Are you just going to leave her or will you call for help? Reg, what if dad kills over too? Wouldn’t that be great?!”
Regulus only wished that he could have Sirius’ level of enthusiasm at the moment.
“I’m not that lucky, Sirius. Look, the twins go to bed at 8. Try not to hype them up on sugar this time. The last time we didn’t get them to sleep until after 11.”
Sirius gave Regulus a cold scowl.
“Look last time, they asked for ice cream. Try saying no to those little faces.”
As if on command both Matilda and Rose gave Regulus their signature “I’m cute” face.
“Love you daddy.”
Matilda muttered. Rose nodded eagerly but didn’t give up a moment with her candy. Regulus shook his head.
“Love you too, princess.”
He turned back to Sirius discreetly giving him the middle finger.
“And you’re teaching them to suck up knowing very well that I can’ say no to them.”
Sirius chuckled to himself before moving to sit on the couch.
“Well, you’ll be okay.”
Glazing down at your watch, you turned to Regulus.
“We better get going if we want to make our appearance as planned.”
Regulus groaned.
“Damn.”
The two of you moved to kiss your daughters goodbye. Sirius gave you both a final look.
“If you need me, I’ll be there in a jiffy.”
“I’ll remember that. You should pray that I don’t kill her.”
Regulus replied before following you out the door.
A moment later, you stood beside Regulus outside of Grimmauld Place. Neither of you moved to knock on the door. After a moment, you turned to look at Regulus. His handsome features were set into a hard scowl.
“Reggie, remember what I said. You aren’t your father and are nothing like your family.”
Regulus nodded. Hearing those words come from your mouth always seemed to make him feel better. Right now, it was especially helpful because he felt as if he was throwing his family into the lion's den.
“We should get this over with.”
Regulus commented before knocking on the door.
A moment later, Kreacher opened the door. The elf’s eyes got huge seeing the one person that he loved most in the world.
“Master Regulus, you finally came home. Kreacher is delighted to see you.”
Kreacher turned his attention to you and frowned. He knew exactly who you were after hearing Walburga fuss about you for many hours. Regulus had followed Kreacher’s gaze and took a breath.
“Kreacher, this is my Y/n. I want you to treat her with respect.”
The elf didn’t look thrilled by the comment. He held back the vile comment that he wanted to make about the Potters being blood traitors. If there was one thing that Kreacher wouldn’t do, it was upset Regulus.
“Yes, Master Regulus. Please follow Kreacher. Dinner has just been served.”
Regulus tightened his hold on your hand as the two of you stepped into the house.
You had never been inside Grimmauld Place before. After stepping in the door it was as dark and gloomy as you expected. Nothing about this place screamed warm and welcoming.
“This makes me love my family all the more.”
You thought as you followed Regulus and Kreacher down the dark and gloomy hallway. At least, with your family, the home was always warm and welcoming. No one had to worry about being hexed over the dinner table.
Your thoughts stopped the moment that you stepped into the dining room. Just as you expected, the room grew silent. Multiple sets of cold eyes were initially upon you. You squeezed Regulus’ hand as Walburga stood up looking furious.
“Regulus, why is that girl here?”
Regulus took a breath. He didn’t expect much of a greeting from his mother.
“Hello, mother.”
He glanced to where his father sat. Orion was watching him with a hawk-like expression while his grandmother and grandfather took sips of their wine. Cygnus and Druella both were giving each other hesitant expressions as if to say “here we go.”
“I asked you a question, Regulus. It's been three years since we have seen you and you come home with this girl.”
Regulus swallowed, suddenly remembering just who the hell he was. If his mother wanted to play hardball then so could he.
“Yes, Mother it has been three years. Furthermore, this girl has a name, and its Y/n. I expect respect for my wife.”
Both Walburga and Orion went pale. Cygnus and Druella’s mouths dropped while Arcturus and Melania tilted their heads.
“Silly of me, but did you say wife?”
Walburga finally choked out.
“Yeah, he said wife. My name is Y/n. Just so you know, Walburga, I match people’s energy. You be nice to me and I’ll be nice to you. If you want to start shit, you better be ready to dance. That goes for all of you lovely people. Now, we are here in goodwill. We aren’t here for this to turn into some muggle soap opera-level crap.”
You watched as Walburga quickly began to stutter. She clearly did not expect that to come out of your mouth. Orion, meanwhile, was looking at you with a look of amazement.
“You wanted to see us. We are here but play your cards carefully. Remember that I’m the heir to this family.”
Regulus added in a calm even tone. Walburga continued to blink before turning to Orion. Orion gave his wife a cold glare before turning back to his son.
“I see that you couldn’t be bothered to tell us about any of this.”
Regulus smirked.
“Sorry, Father but we have been rather busy in France. There is more you should know. We have twin daughters. If you have any interest in seeing them, the lot of you will agree to my terms.”
Walburga sank back in her chair before grabbing Orion’s arm.
“They have children. Oh heaven help me, they have children.”
Orion didn’t say anything immediately as he glanced at his wife. He knew Walburga would kill him later but he had a feeling that she would do exactly as her son asked. In private, Walburga had been a wreck since Regulus moved away. There had been multiple times that she had shed tears over the subject. Of course, Orion would never tell Regulus this.
“Yes, we have children.”
You replied. Melania turned to her grandson with a gentle expression. Regulus had always been her favorite. Now seeing him as a husband and father made her extremely pleased. While she still could see the darling little boy that Regulus was, it was clearly time to see him as the man that he had become.
“You didn’t bring them with you, Regulus.”
Regulus’ cold expression softened as he addressed his grandmother.
“No, grandmother. I didn’t with reason. Our family has a talent for losing our tempers and acting out of places of anger. My daughters don’t need to be exposed to that. Before any of you lay eyes upon them, you’ll listen to what I have to say and agree to my terms.”
Orion leaned back in his chair with a scowl.
“We’re listening.”

marauder!Sirius Black x fem!reader
(A/N 1, im american so i’ll prolly get alot of british slang wrong, or just call stuff by what americans say) ( A/N 2, this is kinda an au where Sirius doesn't move in with James and is stuck with the Black family. I had a lot of trouble figuring out what family to put the reader in that would fit my plot and I just ended up putting you in the nott family. I guess if you really wanna think about it (pls don't think too hard about it), your brother is the father of theo nott?) (A/N 3, check this out if anyone wants an explanation of why i've been gone from tumblr for so long)
Warnings: definitely angsty but with some sprinkles of fluff, lots of mentions of abuse (nothing graphic is shown, it's just described to have happened a lot in the past), this is an arranged marriage trope but not enemies to lovers trope, lots of misogyny (lately i've been feeling angry at the world and it's views of women so here is me trying to comfort myself. Sirius black is a woman lover fr). let me know if there is anything else i need to tag cuz this is my most serious fic yet

(5.6k words)
Sirius Black. A name that's known by the majority of the Hogwarts population. And a face that is known (maybe a little too personally) by many wizards and witches at Hogwarts. But not to you.
You've only ever heard about the notorious Sirius black and the gang of hooligans called the Marauders. You've never got to meet any of them personally. You occasionally would see some of them around, but never Sirius. As a Slytherin, you often ran into his brother, Regulus, but you've never really talked to him either, only ever exchanging pleasantries.
It was actually kind of surprising that you've never talked to the Blacks before. You both came from pure blood, supremacist families and both you and Sirius were known to be a bit rebellious against your families (or just rebellious in general).
But none of that matters, when your parents force you to come home for the holidays and basically shatter your resolve.
At Hogwarts, away from the prying eyes of your family, you were most like yourself. Rebellious, outgoing, funny, and even kind. But under the roof of your family's expensive manor, you were nothing more than a quiet, obedient little girl, who's value was determined by whichever man was in charge of her. The perfect, pureblood daughter.
Just as your mother was and is, you are basically a slave to your own blood, specifically your brother and father. And as soon as you're married (arranged to a pure blood. no doubt, without your consent) you'll have to be an obedient little wife for your husband.
The perfect, doting, obedient, docile, pureblood wife. It was all a load of rubbish, you thought, but you would keep the facade up in order to keep the abuse at bay. You learned pretty early on that speaking up for yourself and speaking out of turn was not going to be tolerated.
You were silently eating dinner with your family. Your father and brother were quietly speaking about matters that even if you and your mother cared, neither of you would be allowed an opinion on.
“Honey, we’ll be having important guests for tomorrow's dinner. So make sure you look your absolute best,” your mother spoke to you. She gave you a sympathetic smile knowing the “show” you both would have to put on in front of guests.
“Okay. Am I allowed to know who these guests are?” you swallowed down your food. You were filled with nerves, thinking about what kind of important guests you were going to have.
Your mother bent down closer to your ear, “I’m not supposed to be telling you this-” she shot a quick look to your father to make sure he wasn’t listening, “but it’s the Black family. I’m not sure why they are coming. All I know is that it’s important business with one of their sons.”
You put your fork down on your plate, placing your hands down on your lap in front of you. You let your thoughts wander and only grew more worried. What kind of important business did one of the Black brothers have with your family? To help a little with your nerves, your mother placed a comforting hand on yours before going back to her meal.
The rest of your night was uneventful after that, until you went to bed. You stayed awake for longer than you should have, your mind way too loud to allow you to sleep. You ran through a list in your mind about the millions of different “important business” that the Black family could have with yours. But none of it made sense why they would eat dinner with us. Usually important business was settled in your father’s study, as it was improper for the ladies to be present.
Eventually, you were able to fall asleep and then the next day would start. You woke up late, which was extremely unappreciated by your brother, who was expecting his morning coffee like usual. You were promptly punished, not only by being woken up by him screaming at you, but also with a beating.
You spent the rest of the day trying to find an appropriate outfit for the dinner that would cover the red marks and newly forming bruises on your arms. Your mother lessened the pain of the marks a little during the day but there wasn’t much else that you could do.
Sometimes when you both sat and drank tea, you would often dream together about running away from all of this. The blood supremacy, controlling men, and just downright evil families. But those thoughts and dreams were quickly quelled when the sound of the men's voices could be heard, calling for the maids- I mean women.
Both you and your mom knew, these were only dreams. It was impossible for purebloods to leave the life that they were born into.
You and your mother waited in the foyer, waiting for the guests to arrive. Your dress was rubbing against the lashes on your skin, making you scratch your arms in irritation but soon stopped when your mothers hand landed on yours.
“You’ll only make it hurt worse. Plus, you know you can show any discomfort in front of the guests,” she said softly. She was trying her best to sound comforting but it only served to remind you of the show you both are forced to put on and the lives you’re stuck living.
A knock was heard and muscle memory forced wide, fake smiles onto both of your faces. Your mother opened the door and welcomed the Black family, “Good evening Mr. and Mrs. Black. I hope you had safe travels here.”
As soon as they crossed the threshold, you were in front of them offering to take their coats. They handed them to you as Mrs. Black spoke, “Thank you for having us, Mrs. Nott.”
“My daughter will show you to the dining room while I finish up making dinner,” your mother informed before quickly making her way towards the kitchen.
After you finished hanging up Mr. and Mrs. Black’s coats, you finally had the chance to look at the two Black brothers. Being in his house, you immediately recognized Regulus, who gave you a tight smile. You then looked over to who you assumed was Sirius.
He certainly was as attractive as the girls at Hogwarts always seemed to make him seem. But he wouldn’t make eye contact with you. He was looking toward the ground, still keeping his posture ramrod straight. He had the same look and body language as someone who had just been beaten for disobedience. A look you were familiar with.
Before anyone could get angry with you, you spoke up, respectfully, “If you would follow me, please.”
With your head down, you brought the family to the dining room. Your father and brother both stood up to shake hands with the Blacks. You stood behind your seat, waiting for the men to sit down first. Your father and Mr. Black sat down and engaged in conversation. You watched Regulus take the chair next to his father and looked to see where Sirius was. You were surprised to find him right next to you.
You backed up, unsure why he was standing there. Of course, you would give up your seat if he asked you to. But all he did was pull the chair out and motion for you to sit down. You sat down and thanked him as he pushed the chair in, “Thank you, young master Black.”
In the corner of your eye, you saw your father give a nod at your use of the title. Salazar, you sounded like a damned house elf. But that was the proper way you were to address him.
Sirius scrunched his nose at the title but gave you an understanding smile, “You’re welcome.”
He surprised you once more by taking the seat directly next to yours. You kept your mouth shut, knowing it was best to keep your curious thoughts to yourself, but you did shoot him a kind smile.
Dinner started without a hitch, conversation mostly being between Mr. Black and your father, your mother and Mrs. Black conversing a little bit with each other too. You, your brother, and both Black brothers mostly stayed silent and ate the meal.
Throughout the entire dinner, when nobody was looking, you had been rubbing at your irritated arm in discomfort. You don’t know how long Sirius had noticed but he grabbed your hand under the table just as you were going to bring it back up again. He continued to eat his meal with his other hand, looking like he wasn’t holding your hand under the table at the moment.
At your confused glance, he leaned closer to your ear, whispering, “I know what you’re doing. It’s just going to make it hurt more, the more you keep messing with it. Just squeeze my hand instead.”
He went back to eating, glancing around to find that no one noticed him whispering to you. You squeezed his hand a bit hard as you went back to eating too. Instead of wincing or doing anything to show discomfort, all he did was rub his thumb soothingly on yours.
The butterflies Sirius stirred up in you was enough to distract you from your irritating arm for the rest of the dinner.
“Now,” your father started, rubbing his napkin on his mouth and setting it down on the table, (the universal sign for “stop eating and listen to me”). “Mr. Black and I have recently come to an agreement.”
Sirius squeezed your hand in comfort as his father spoke up, “Seeing as Ms. Nott is the same age as my Sirius, we have arranged for the two of you to be married. It will be after the both of you graduate from Hogwarts.”
Those words echoed in your head as you looked up to the two fathers in shock. Your silverware clattered as it fell from your hand onto your plate. You must have been breaking the bones in Sirius’ hand, holding it as tight as you were.
Despite the fact that you knew it was a bad idea, your adrenaline forced you to speak up, “You can’t do that, father. You can’t just force me to marry someone that I just met.”
The tears in your eyes didn’t fall, years of “training” keeping them from falling.
Your brother gave you a harsh glare at your disrespect. Suddenly your father stood up, slamming his hands on the table. Staring straight at you, his commanding voice not loud but still thundering all the same, “I can, and I will. Do not forget your place in this family and this world. You will do as I say until you are married. Then you will be your husband’s to command.”
In a haste, you let go of Sirius’ hand, placing your hands on the table to stand up. Sirius, thinking quickly, kept you from getting up by grabbing your legs under the table. That didn’t stop your mouth from speaking harshly, “I am nobody’s to command or control.”
Before you could say anything more, your father reached across the table and slapped you across the face. You held your cheek in shock. He’s hit you before but never in front of guests. The entire table sat in shocked silence.
You looked down at your lap, willing your tears not to fall. You noticed Sirius’ hands clenched in his lap, he looked like he was shaking in anger, but his face had a practiced neutral expression. Regulus’ eyes were wide as he looked at you but had no other reaction at the scene that just transpired. The both of them knew not to speak up.
Your brother had a satisfied smirk on his face. You could just hear the thoughts in his head right now. Thank Salazar, someone put her in her place, his face screamed.
Your father sat down and looked towards Mr. Black, “I’m sorry for my daughter’s behavior. I hope you can forgive me for her impudence.”
Mr. Black simply waved his hand in dismissal, “It’s alright. I understand how women are.”
Picking up his whiskey glass, your father sighed, “It’s a shame we can’t put off the marriage to fix her. Maybe your son will be able to crack her.”
Mr. Black took a swig of his whiskey too, “We can only hope. If not, I can think of a curse that surely helped to fix up my Sirius.”
Sirius tensed up next to you. Your father had never used the Cruciatus Curse on you, but it was clear what Mr. Black was referring to and your father seemed to quite enjoy the idea. The two men simply laughed as if that curse wasn’t named an Unforgivable Curse. They laughed, as if your pain was nothing more than entertainment to them.
The dinner went back to normal for the two men and your brother, not noticing the tension felt between the rest of the group. This time, you grabbed Sirius’ hand under the table and rubbed it soothingly. He let out a shaky breath and squeezed your hand.
Losing your appetite, you spent the rest of the meal sitting in silence, holding hands with Sirius. Your thoughts ran completely wild. You were going to be married to him, for the rest of your life, and you had only spoken once. You didn’t even speak. He whispered to you and you listened. Thinking more about it, there are worse boys that you could have been forced to marry.
At Hogwarts, Sirius was known for being rebellious and against his family's traits and values. Salazar, the boy was sorted into Gryffindor, the opposite of his entire family. But what if that was just in the public eye. You didn’t know anything about Sirius except for what you’ve heard from others. For all you knew, the moment you and he were alone, he would revert back to his family’s pureblood values and abuse you just as most pureblood husbands did to their wives.
No, you quickly thought, stop it. You tried to think about the entire situation with a rational head. Throughout the entire dinner, he did nothing harsh towards you. He offered comfort when your arm was bothering you. He kept you from standing when you argued with your father (who knows how much worse the situation could have escalated if you actually, physically stood up to him). He did his best to offer you comfort without your families knowing it.
He’s not an abuser, you rationalized with yourself. You felt the way he tensed up at the mention of the Cruciatus Curse. He would not be like your father or your brother.
After dinner, you were sent straight up to your room. Before you were separated, Sirius softly spoke to you, “Don’t worry, darling.”
His smile reassured you by a fraction, as you got ready for bed. Maybe all of it won’t be so bad.
You didn’t see Sirius, or his family, at all the rest of the holidays. The next time you did see him was on the train back to Hogwarts. You were simply looking for an empty carriage to settle in, when you noticed Sirius coming towards you.
He grabbed your suitcase and brought it to what you presumed was the carriage he was going to be in. You simply followed him, shrinking under the glare that some of his fangirls were throwing your way.
Once the door was shut and you were alone, he finally spoke up, “So, how are you?”
You sat in the seat opposite of him. You were unsure how to proceed, so you took the safe option and responded, “I’m fine, master Black.”
He opened his mouth in shock, before quickly wiping the look from his face, he basically pleaded, “Please don’t call me that.”
“But-” you went to protest, but he cut you off.
“At least, don’t call me that when we aren’t near our families,” he dismissed what you were going to say. All you could do was stare at him. It really did seem he wasn’t like his family.
Growing embarrassed under your stare, he shyly spoke back up, “I hope you know that you can act like you normally do when you’re around me.”
You looked away from him, face flushing, “This is how I normally act.”
He leveled you with a look, “We both know that’s not true. I don’t know you well but I’m sure you have a number of choice words to call me.”
Seeing the amused smirk on his face, your facade broke. You slightly smirked right back at him, “I don’t have any words to call you… Our fathers on the other hand…”
Sirius’ smirk turned into an almost awestruck smile. Before he could say anything back at you, a gaggle of boys had burst into the carriage.
“Pads, you’ll never guess who sent me a letter during break,” James Potter excitedly said. He went to sit across from his friend only to just now notice you. You gave him a sweet smile.
“Who’s this?” James asked, sitting next to Sirius and throwing his arm around him.
Peter Pettigrew and Remus Lupin followed James into the carriage, taking their seats. Everyone gave you curious but welcoming looks.
Sirius gave you a look, which you nodded to.
“Put up a silencing charm. I’ve got a story to tell you,” Sirius replied, causing the boys to perk up.
The next hour or so was spent with Sirius explaining your arranged marriage to his group of friends. You were relatively silent, not yet comfortable talking to his friends. He left out the parts where you were abused and berated but didn’t spare the details of his own abuse. It seemed he was comfortable sharing what he goes through to his friends. And evidently you too, since you were there listening too.
This was how you found out that he knew about the betrothal before you did. Apparently, he found out just moments before going to the dinner. He tried to refuse his father (the same way you had, you noticed) and received a beating for his insubordination. That would explain the look he had when you first saw him.
You cringed a little, hearing that he was hit but he gave you a reassuring smile. His friends were also really kind and sympathetic to the entire situation. No wonder he seemed comfortable sharing his familial trauma with them, they were extremely supportive.
“Can they really do that?” James questioned, from next to Sirius.
You sighed and crossed your arms, “Unfortunately, yes. There isn’t anything that we can do to avoid it.”
Remus looked up thoughtfully, “Is it possible for you guys to run away from your families?”
You thought about it, “Hypothetically, we could run away from our families and the blood supremacy world, but it would be extremely difficult.”
Sirius spoke up, “Trust me, I’ve debated it my entire life. If we ran away from our families, no doubt we would be financially cut off from them.”
You added, “Not only would we have to somehow have enough money for a place to live, but we would also need to find a job, to keep the place to live. And trust me, families like ours have a lot of power in the wizard world. One word from them, and no one would want or be able to hire us.”
Peter muttered, “That’s horrible.”
Sirius sighed and slouched in his seat, “You’re telling me.”
“Thinking about it, Sirius, you need to put your womanizing ways away. A married man shouldn’t be parading around with any woman that gives him attention,” you added with a teasing smirk.
“You make me sound like a cheap whore,” Sirius replied with a pout.
“You’re not?” James was quick to rebuttal, causing you to laugh at the offended face Sirius gave the both of you. It didn’t take long for the entire group of you to dissolve into laughs and giggles.
Sirius smiled at you, teasingly, “Well how about you? I’m sure your long line of lovesick fools will end up sobbing at the news.”
You glared playfully at him, “I don’t know any lovesick fools. I actually swore off dating a long time ago so this doesn’t affect my love life at all.”
Remus looked at you in bewilderment, “Went from swearing off dating straight to marriage.”
“Quite the jump,” you simply offered in reply. “At least I’m stuck with Sirius and not some blood supremacist twat like my brother.”
“That is true,” Remus reasoned. “You could have been forced with someone who actually believes the rubbish their parents feed them.”
You felt comforted by Remus' words, confirming that Sirius wasn’t like both of your families.
The rest of the train ride was spent getting to know each other. It wasn’t hard to become friends with Sirius and his buddies. The longer you spent with them, the more comfortable you became with the idea of becoming Sirius’ wife. Don’t get me wrong. You still didn’t want to be forced to marry someone that you didn’t know or love, but you were comfortable knowing that he felt the exact same way.
Who knows? Maybe you could fall in love with Sirius the same way a plethora of other girls had.
The rest of your seventh year at Hogwarts went alright. It didn’t take long for rumors to spread that you and Sirius were to be married but for the most part, the gossip didn’t bother either of you that much. It’s not like the rumors were false, so what was the point in denying anything.
The only downside was the threats that a multitude of Sirius fangirls made in your direction. Nothing too serious has happened to you yet, but you knew soon enough that it would be too much for the wrong girl. Turns out, that time would come soon enough.
You were eating breakfast in the Great Hall, Regulus sitting across from you. Since he was to be your brother-in-law, the both of you became friends. You would also find out that he wasn’t like his parents either. He just wasn’t as outward of this fact as Sirius was. Watching what Sirius has put up with, he knew that he wasn’t brave enough to rebel and deal with the consequences.
Earlier in the week, a parcel came by owl for you. In it was a Black family heirloom, a wedding ring. You were told that you had to wear it from now on, even though you guys were still only engaged and not married. Of course, you didn’t argue, though.
You sat staring at the ring. On one hand, you hate what it symbolized. It was your own sick image of slave shackles that tied you down. On the other hand, “It really is quite pretty. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought Sirius picked it out just for me.”
Regulus looked up at you as you spoke. He was confused for a moment until he noticed you glancing at the ring on your ring finger. He swallowed his toast and took a sip of his black coffee, “Well… I mean, it is charmed.”
You gave him a confused look, which only made him look back at you even more confused. His eyebrows raised, “You don’t know?”
“Know what?” you questioned. You looked at the ring and tried to think of what kind of charm it could have been.
Regulus smirked back at you, “Well, Mrs. Black-” you glared at him, only making him smile harder at you, “-When the ring was first made for our grandmother's grandmother, or some other old bat, it was put under some kind of spell.
“It was always meant to be an heirloom and it was charmed to always look the way that the husband, the male with Black blood, wanted it to look. Hypothetically, it was supposed to be a symbol of great love because the husband should know what kind of ring their wife would like to wear. But with our family being the kind of family it is, it was mostly only ever worn as a symbol of possession.
“Rarely, did the husbands care enough about their wives to know what kind of ring they would like to wear,” Regulus finished his story. He was giving you an unreadable smile.
You stared back at him, your expression almost as unreadable as his, scoffing at him, “Well most jewelry is going to be pretty.”
“Yeah, but doesn’t that look like the perfect ring for you,” he smoothly replied.
You simply ignored him, finishing your breakfast. You did your best to ignore the fluttering feeling in your chest at the thought that Sirius knew what your perfect ring would look like.
The ring on your finger only served as a reminder to all the girls at Hogwarts that you were to be Sirius’ wife, a fact that was not very well received by the female population. Before you had the ring, the most that would be thrown your way was dirty looks and glares, something you could easily handle. But as more and more people noticed the ring on your finger over the next week, the more serious it became.
You started to receive so much hate mail, that you started to only ever open up letters if they had the official Nott or Black seal. Most of the letters only said foul things to you. Not many people were aware of the arranged part of the marriage, mostly only pureblood Slytherins and Black’s friends knew about that, so a lot of the letters consisted of them berating you and wondering how you got the notorious Sirius Black to fall in love with you (A love potion being the most common guess. Because why would the perfect Sirius Black want to be with a nobody girl like you).
People really are dense these days. How could people possibly jump to any sort of conclusions when no one has ever seen you guys kiss… or even hold hands for that matter. The both of you were friends by now, of course. But that’s it. You guys didn’t just magically fall in love now that you are betrothed.
Well… one of you wasn’t in love. Over the course of getting to know Sirius more for the past few months, feelings did start to stir within you. But you always tried to squash them down as soon as you felt them. Which only made you hurt more.
You were going to get married… without your consent… to a guy that you’ve started to truly care for… despite the fact that he could never care for you the same way. It was all kind of sad, when you really thought about it.
You thought about how you were probably, inadvertently, just a symbol of his slavery to his family and their beliefs. Just as he was inadvertently a symbol of your slavery to your family and their beliefs.
But you were able to look past that. So maybe he would be able to look past it too and see the silver-lining to this whole thing.
Breaking out of your thoughts, you muttered a quicked Incendio at the pile of hate mail in front of you, burning it to ash. Slipping your wand back into your robes, you continued to eat your dinner in relative peace.
If only it could’ve stayed in peace. Two girls, a Ravenclaw and a Hufflepuff that you didn’t even recognize, sat down on both of your sides. Your confusion was apparent, only widening the smirk on the two girls' faces.
Understanding what was going on, you rolled your eyes, “Do you guys need something?”
“What’s your secret?” the Ravenclaw girl inquired.
You simply continued to eat your food, unaffected by their intimidation. Dryly, you responded, “Whatever could you mean?”
The girls looked at you in disgust, before the Hufflepuff spoke up, “We want to know how you got someone as amazing as Sirius Black to fall for you. I can’t think of anything good about you.”
With another roll of your eyes (if you had a galleon for everytime you rolled your eyes because of these kinds of girls, you would be rich) you cooly replied, “Have you tried, having a personality? I’ve heard it does wonders in making people like you.”
Both girls huffed at your attitude before standing up. The Ravenclaw haughtily informed you, “You better watch your back, Nott. Wouldn’t want anyone to damage Sirius’ goods.”
Using her wand, the Hufflepuff spilled sticky juice all over you, leaving you floundering in shock. You sat for a second seething in anger, only growing more furious as the gross liquid seeped more into your clothes.
By now, most of the great hall was already watching what had happened but at the glare you threw at everyone, people were quick to go back to minding their business.
You got up quickly, making your way out of the Great Hall. You heard footsteps behind you and someone calling your name but you were too blind with rage to bother turning around to find out what they wanted. You had had enough of the girls in this school looking down at you for something that wasn’t any of their business.
You were almost to the girls washroom, when Sirius grabbed ahold of your arm. You quickly whipped around, seething, “What the hell do you want, Black?”
He faltered, unsure how to handle what was happening, “I saw what happened. Are you okay?”
You glared harshly at him, “Do I look okay to you?”
Gobsmacked, he hesitantly replied, “Well, what can I do?”
“Oh gee, Black,” you spit at him. “Maybe you could fix your fanclub who seems to think that I’m Satan incarnate herself.”
Your anger in the moment kept you from thinking rationally, you mocked, “Oh perfect Sirius Black. He’s so hot and amazing. How could a slag like you end up with a man like him?”
Sirius stood, shocked at your outburst but kept silent and let you continue to tear at him, “I’ve heard it all, Black. Your little group of fangirls are so deep into their delusions that they can’t even see that we aren’t in love. The only thing that they are capable of seeing is that I’ll be your wife, consensual or not.
“Those girls don’t even realize the pain it brings me that I’m forced to do this. Those girls don’t see the pain my family has put me in, time and time again. Those girls don’t see the pain they cause me with their vitriolic jealousy,” You finished your rant off, poking at his chest with each sentence. Breathing deeply after explaining how this all made you feel, you watched as he processed everything you said.
He seemed unsure of how to continue, until anger and what looked like insecurity started to cover his face. He moved your hand away (very lightly, you noticed) and started to step towards you as he raised his voice back at you, “Well what do you expect me to do about literally anything about this situation. I’m sorry that having to marry me is the worst thing that ever happened to you.”
“Sirius,” you sighed, regretfully.
But he was quick to continue before you could, “No, you got to tear me out, so now it’s my turn. Trust me, this hurts me too. I know how horrible our families and their rubbish traditions are. You are just as familiar with the abuse as I am, meaning that you know just as well as I do, that there isn’t anything that either of us can do against this.”
He took a step back and a deep, calming breath. He looked at you with an expression that was unreadable, “I wish there was something, anything, that I could do to help us feel less trapped but there’s nothing to do.”
You took a step closer to him, “Nothing about you, is the worst thing to ever happen to me. Really, if anything, you’re the best thing to happen to me. It’s because of you, that I feel less alone.”
At your admission, Sirius let out a breath of relief, as if you just lifted the world off of his shoulders. Was he really that worried about being a burden to you? You spoke up again, “I’m sorry for yelling at you. None of this is your fault and I shouldn’t have let my anger out on you.”
Sirius sighed, muttering the scourgify charm. The sticky juice was instantly cleaned off you and you already felt a little bit better.
Sirius grabbed your hand, holding it in both of his, “It’s alright. I understand what you’re going through. But we can get through this together.”
“You’re right,” you responded with a soft cry. You fell into his chest and softly cried out your frustrations. Sirius stood there, soothing you as best as he could, unwilling to let you out of his embrace.
“How about tonight, you meet me in the astronomy tower? We can do whatever, it doesn’t matter what. We can just hang out and forget about our families for once,” Sirius offered. He still had his arms around you in comfort.
Once your sniffles subsided, you hugged him just a little bit tighter, “That sounds amazing, Sirius.”
(A/N, I was thinking of doing a part 2 if you guys are interested. I was thinking it would be after the marriage but you guys still dance around the feelings you have for eachother. maybe you guys find a way to run away together too. i dont really know, yall let me know what you think)

This is a story about a girl named Lucky
Her whole life, she knew. She knew her adult life was planned out for her, laid down like bricks. Every detail inscribed down to when she would have children and how many. It was something accepted, something she honestly was somewhat excited for.
An arranged marriage was awaiting her, the only problem was to who. That was still a question. It was the same thing that had happened to her parents, all she wished for was it would become the same marriage. Her father was not the best man, he was greedy and always searching for more fortune. But his love for her mother was real.
The marriage had started off very professional but over the time the couple grew to love each other and that blossomed into a real partnership, as if they had been soulmates the whole time. She wanted even just a sliver of that feeling between her and her predetermined husband.
Many bachelors have come along in an endeavor to just have one date with her. She had rejected all of them, mostly because she did not want to become attached just to leave them for a marriage between families. Her schooling years were lonely for that fact, but she had her best friend to lean against. Regulus Black, a boy a few months older than her. The pair had been close ever since their first year. The sorting had placed her in Slytherin and she sat next to him at the table.
Over the years they had spend many hours together, even had sleepovers during Holidays. Everything about their relationship was the definition of platonic. Going to each other about relationship issues (mostly on Reggie's side) and homework (also mostly on his part). Their families encouraged the companionship hardcore, both being from respected pure-blood families. Neither one every being jealous of the other. Strictly best friends, childhood best friends.
In addition to the relations between the young students, came spending time with his older brother. Her and Sirius never had a falling out, rarely ever spoke to each other actually. But the rare occasion they did, it was not unpleasant but she could tell he would have rather been any where else. It would be a lie to say she did not find him attractive. Sirius Black was a very attractive man, just always cold towards her. Always coming off slightly rude with rushed conversation, looking anywhere but at her. Her heart pang with hurt each time, but she would push it down and think about her mystery husband.
What would he be like? Would he be cruel and unkind towards her, resentful even? Or would he cherish her like a delicate flower and look at her like a queen? These questions always flooded her mind. He could be freshly out of school or older than her own father.
"Do you think he's our age Reggie?" she floated into the air, staring at the ceiling from her friends bed.
Regulus was deep in thought, looking down at the question he had just answered. Muttering a "not sure" to her, before asking for a check on the answer.
"No, it's mandrake." She responded flopping back on the bed as he went back to hunching over his desk.
"Why do you even need this class? It has nothing to do with your future?" She continued to question him. And he of course, did not have an answer for her.
The teenagers had finished their last year at Hogwarts the year prior, both deciding to further their education. Regulus was attempting to enter the ministry for a job that she could not ever remember. She had started her training in becoming a healer, caring for people had always come naturally for her so why not make a career out of it.
Their parents had formed a bond with each other because of the two kids. The families were having a small dinner together at the Black residence. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing exciting, plus the best friends got to see each other. They enjoyed each other's company. So much so that many rumors went around school that they had coupled off, which was far from the truth. She had seen this boy with vomit all over his body from partying the night before, cleaned him up too. If any romantic feelings were harbored, well they just were not on either part. They told each other everything, down to the last, little detail.
There was a knock on the door, waiting for Regulus to allow them to come in. Kreacher popped his head into the room, telling them that supper was ready to be served and they were requested to the dining room. They walked down together, laughing at stupidly fond memories of other Slytherins and mishaps that happened at school.
When they make it to the room, their parents are waiting. Father's had the head of the table, mothers chatting across from each other. Regulus sat next her at the table, in the spots the usually occupy, basically giggling to each other. Talking lowly to not be shushed and told to stop fooling around. The group had been waiting some time, food should be out any time now. The doors of the grand room open and close loudly when someone steps through them.
Sirius Black. It was rare he joined them in supper. His leather jacket wrapped around his body as a perfect fit, complimenting his body. She noticed his hair was almost to his shoulders with a slight curl. Nothing really compared to the short, curly hair his brother sported. He looked majestic almost with the way his hair shook as he walked to the chair right in front of her. Boots thumping against the ground each step he took. Her heartbeat seemed like it was mimicking the sounds as he moved closer.
She could also see the slight smudge of red lipstick on the collar of the jacket and the faintest smell of floral perfume. She looked down at her lap, she knew that scent. Nadia Antonov. A gorgeous woman that was the same age as Sirius. She had moved just before Hogwarts from Russia, her accent still held prevalent in her English to this day. She was tall, slim, and pale. She had beautiful dark hair and piercing eyes, breath-taking. She had also been an on and off again girlfriend of Sirius's. One of the two girlfriends she had known he had. She looked down at her plate when he sat down across her, feeling his eyes on her. He was never outright mean to her but she could feel the judgement radiating off him every time they were near each other.
"Glad you decided to join us tonight son." His father spoke uninterested.
"You forced me." Sirius spoke flat.
"Might as well get to it then. Sirius, you and Y/N are getting married soon. Congratulations." His mother spoke quick, clapping her hands together excitedly.
Her eyes widened, looking up from her lap. Immediately at Regulus, who wore an apologetic smile. She was marrying Sirius Black of all people. She transferred her gaze to her parents, the smiles on their face were radiant. Something she could not feel for the person directly across from her. She could practically feel the anger radiating for him.
"Her? HER! Of all people, you give me her?" His voice was somewhat calm, but spit venom.
She refused to look at him, instead opted to pick at the fabric of her skirt near her knee. His words stung enough, she did not need to see the look of disgust he would be wearing as well. The feeling weighted heavy on her chest, her soon-to-be husband's disgust towards her. All types of insecurities filled her, bursting at the seems.
She flinched at the sound of his fists hitting the supper table, eyes squeezing shut tightly to drown out the screaming match between Sirius and his mother. Only picking up bits about how rude he was being and that it wouldn't matter in the end because their decision was final. She tried to reach for Regulus's hand, seeking comfort from him. But he refused, pulling his hand away and sitting back in his seat in a huff of anger.
Sirius began to storm out of the room.
"Weddings in December. Be ready." That was all his father spoke the entire time before moving on to a discussion with her father.
The entire dinner was held in silence only suffocating the two friends, the adults continued as if nothing had happened just prior until they were excused from the table. She followed her friend back up to his bedroom, his steps quick and long. She could barely keep up with him, his irritating sighing doing nothing to help her own feelings. He only turned towards her when they reached the archway into his bedroom.
"You were the one thing I had that he did not. You were my friend. Now you don't even have a choice. He still gets you, he still gets to steal from me. He has taken anything I have ever gotten, you were something he could not have. You were just supposed to be my annoying best fucking friend." Regulus ranted, blocking the entrance to the room.
"Reggie, I can still be your friend." She was afraid her voice would betray her, it did.
"I..." he huffed "I'm not sure I want something of his."
"Oh."
She nodded in understanding. She knew his feelings towards his brother, very particular about certain things. She was an understanding person, she knew his emotions were high and how well he could communicate them. He just needed time to adjust, they all needed time. But time was against them, December was only a month away. This wedding was going to happen no matter who protested and was going to happen when it was said to. There was no changing anyone's mind. She smiled sadly at her friend before asking him to move so she could collect her things.
"I think it's best if I leave now. I'll see you soon Reg." She spoke quietly with a broken voice. Her attempts to hold back on crying were almost deceiving her.
"No. You don't have to leave.." She cut him off.
"It's okay Reggie, really. It's a big change, everyone needs some time to process it."
With that she walked out of his room, a questionable feeling in her chest. She knew this marriage hurt her friend, after Sirius's outburst it hurt her too. But there was no time for pity, she just had to push through it. She walked to her mother. Both her and Walburga were chatting in a living space. No doubt about the wedding based on the swatches laid along the table in front of them.
"Hello mother, Mrs. Black. Thank you for the wonderful evening. But I must be off, I have an important exam coming up. I look forward to the next time I see you." She wore her best smile, one that gave the facade of happiness.
"As well" Walburga addressed the girl
before moving back to her mother, holding up another poring of colors and went deep into discussion once again.
Early morning, she wakes up
It's time for makeup, perfect smile
That announcement had been over a month ago. Today was the day of the wedding. It was a month built in isolation, she had not seen Sirius since, or really even Regulus. If it had not been for her healer classmates, she would have not spoken to anyone the entire time. Her world has been a quiet chaos, overwhelming her with no sign of stopping for a long time. The lonely feeling lodging itself deep into her chest, stuffing up her throat without a centimeter of air to flow through.
Her mother had her woken up early, barely past dawn. The wedding was not for hours, but she started prepping the event. She went into the bathroom to an already filled tub, steam rolling of the porcelain tub. The bathroom was honestly the only place she had recently for peace. Stripping out of her pajamas, she dipped into the scorching water, letting the water take over her body. The heat felt amazing against her stresses body.
She wordlessly flicked on the radio she had on the counter. With closed eyes, she relaxed into the water with an earful of "Try A Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding. It had been a favorite of her song and even musician since she was a little girl, dreaming about her very own wedding that was only hours away now. She was not really dreading the wedding per se, everything was just extremely stressful. Soaking in the water was a must have for today. She hummed along to the beat, running water along her arms with a soaped cloth.
She scrubbed her head, trying to cleanse the self doubt away. She did not want today to be miserable, but she feared that was out of her grasp. Dunking herself, water rushed filling her ears. Making her feel as physically heavy as she had been emotionally. Coming up only for a gasp of air before quickly submerging again. It had finally come time to step from the safety of her tub, only when her mother knocked relentlessly letting her know her time was running out.
The entire day was spent pampering, trying to get everything perfect to the finest detail. She would be officially wed in four hours, the finishing touches were placed on her face. Staring back in the mirror, it felt like someone else in her shoes. Not that it was a bad thing, she felt confident and beautiful, especially once her hair was pulled and pinned in a way that looked ethereal. This was the girl her younger self always pictured would be standing at the alter, dolled up in a white dress.
Stepping into the dress felt unreal, especially once it was completely zipped up on her body. The long, solid sleeves clung to her arms before cutting off at the wrists. The collar sitting lower on her chest, just enough for her collarbones to be on display. The neckline V'd towards the center of the chest, hugging at the waist before flowing outwards as the fabric reached the floor. The dress was fitted perfectly and made her feel like a real princess, like a queen.
The "couple" were to be wed in Black manor, which sort of stresses her out. The last time she had entered that place, nothing good came of it. But she was optimistic about today. Ready for it to bring new opportunities and chances. She arrived a few hours before with her mother, again touching up her makeup and hair before slipping on her white heels and giving herself a once over again in the mirror. 'Ready as I'll every be' she thought, wiping her sweaty hands down the side of her dress. She sat at the vanity waiting for the time to come.
She really had no say in anything about the wedding. Her only suggestion was to include the gold color, not because she wanted it to look or be expensive. The color relaxed her, the shininess gave a weird comfort. 'The color of wisdom, though many only see the greed that follows gold around." She could not remember who told her that, but it stuck. All she hoped was that it was included in some aspects, give her some control over this situation, over her life.
It felt like years, waiting in a desolate room by herself. Her mind racing, constantly going over the date. December 16, 1980. December 16, 1980. She was only eighteen, her husband twenty-one. Everything felt so quick, so rushed. Her chest felt it was caving in on itself, her dress was restricting airflow to her lungs. Drowning, that's what it felt like. She was drowning, suffocating from the pressure of her life. Hysteric is almost how she felt, pacing back and forth in the cold room. She's been wallowing in stress and the threat of tears for hours now. The pressure behind her eyes and between her temples screamed against them. They were centimeters away from falling when a light knock filled the silent space.
She moved slowly towards the door, it should not have been time yet. She slowly opened the door, her body hidden and only an eye peeking through.
"Hi!" A brightly, loving smile filled her vision, along with the bright red hair, "do you mind if I come in?"
She did not speak, but let the woman in. It was Lily Evans, or Potter now. Her and James had gotten married the summer before, she had heard about it through the papers and Regulus.
"I know how stressful today can be, and it's never fun to be completely isolated!" Lily took a seat on the ottoman at the end of the bed, "are you crying blood?"
Lily jumped up from her seat trying to tend to the girl.
"No." her voice small "Well yes, but this happens."
She waved Lily off, grabbing a white cloth and dabbed away the pink tinted tears she had not realized shedded. Although the company was refreshing, she and Lily had never been friends. She looked up to Lily academically during school and admired her for her stubborn and self-assured attitude she always wore. As if reading her mind.
"Marrying into this family is a change. I mean I married James, but Sirius is basically his brother. He's a good man, stupid, but good. Everything will fall into place. Hopefully his head levels off soon." She let out a little laugh, easing the tense mood that held the air originally. "Besides, you look gorgeous. Anyone could see that!"
She and Lily spent the next several minutes chatting like they were old friends. Lily welcomed a warm light, and a comforting presences in the dark manor they were currently occupying. She helped apply finishing touches physically and mentally, trying to help the girl feel as beautiful as she looked. Even quickly removing a light pink stain from the chest of the dress with her permission.
"So, I'll see you at the after party at James and I's house? Harry is with my parents for the weekend, I could not be more excited for this party!" Lily cooed at the thought of a normal weekend.
"What?" She was confused, what party.
"Sirius put it together. Oh I'll see you later." Lily left as her mother barged into the room, ready to usher her daughter to the alter where her husband was waiting.
She took the time the think about what Lily had said. Sirius had put an after party together? Maybe it was a surprise for after the wedding, a peace offering between the soon to be wed. She could not dwell on the thoughts for too long. A bouquet was stuffed into her hands as her father inter locked their arms. Her mother masked her face with the sheer vail, clapping her hands together before rushing back into the room that held the Black family, Her own family, and Sirius's friends.
The organ vibrates the floor as a wedding tune began to play, signaling the entrance of the bride. As the doors opened, the rows of people stood and faced them. Her heartbeat was in her throat, all the eyes on her was overwhelming, she noticed one set was on anything but her. Sirius could not bring himself to even glance in her direction. A stabbing sensation filled her heart and lungs, he could at least acknowledge she was suffering as well as he was in the arrangement.
Towards the end of the rows, she spotted Lily, who wore a bright smile and gave her the thumbs up in encouragement. She took a deep breath and continued with her fathers pace before reaching the alter. Sirius looked unimpressed and bored with the whole function. Maybe that was why she felt so guilty for finding him incredible attractive in this moment.
Sirius was wearing a black suit, crisp and tailored to his toned body. A sleek, black tie laid over the black vest that's as snug to his torso. The black overcoat fell off his shoulders, a white undershirt contrasting the dark colors. His hair was slicked back on the sides, the ends curled in an orderly fashion. A sight she had never seen, usually he had unkempt curls framing his face. He looked pale, with a slight shadow of facial hair peeking through the undertones of his clear skin. He was breathtaking to say the least, but his eyes bothered her. They almost held disgust or distaste, an uncomfortable feeling filled her chest. She knew she was not the pick of the litter but marrying her could not have been that bad.
He reluctantly moved the vail behind her head. Peering down at her for a second before moving his eyes away from her quickly. The officiant had begun, his deep voice spooking her more than bringing comfort. Truthfully, his gravely voice upset her. It was scary, she was already terrified by the scene unfolding in front of her. She zoned out, not listening to a word said until a knife was held in front of her face. Sirius took it hastily, and sliced a small cut into his hand. Reluctantly, she did the same. Wincing at the sharp blade against the palm of her hand, almost crying because of the painful cut. She did not handle pain very well.
The officiant spoke a few more words as blood oozed from both their hands. He ushered the pair to connect their right hands together, the ones that had been cut. He placed the respective rings onto their left ring fingers, a weird, tingly sensation spread through their veins with the mingling of their blood being the source. The Black family wanted them to be tied to each other by blood, thus having their interlocked fingers start to burn as the union became almost painful.
They were finally allowed to release each other, the officiant casting a spell to heal and clean their hands.
"I, now pronounce you as Mr. and Mrs. Sirius Black."
Both their respective families clapped formally. But Sirius's friends whooped and hollered at the union. As the newly weds walked passed them on the way out, James gave a loud wolf whistle, causing Lily to smack him in the chest.
The couple walked completely out of the house into an awaiting carriage. The ride was silent, she had no idea where they were even heading. Sirius had still not spoken to her, and she was unsure when or if he ever would. It shows that he was still extremely upset about the arrangement. The carriage stopped after about thirty minutes of flying, outside of a townhouse. The magical house appeared completely wedged between the other muggle houses. Sirius silently entered the home, as if he knew his way around it already. He silently went up the stairs, she stayed in the entrance basking in the place.
Sirius ran down the steps with hefty stomps, grumbling as he did so.
"Welcome home. I'm going out, so don't wait up for me. Your room is on the left." His words were fast as he pushed past and out the door. It clicked shut with a loud clash, causing her to squeeze her eyes shut and tense.
Instead of dwelling on the boy, she moved up the stairs to find the room he was talking about. It was decorated the exact same as her room back at her parents house. It was the first thing this entire day, or even this month to bring her any comfort. She flopped down on her bed, still in her full wedding attire. The events of today settled in. She was finally married, to a young and handsome man. Whom had just left her alone for the night, the night of her wedding. Tears started pouring out of her eyes now as loud sobs wracked the whole house. He was going to a party he planned for their wedding and did not even tell her about it. Lily told her, Lily said she would see her later. Now she wondered what Sirius was going to tell all of them.
Mascara and eyeliner ran down her cheeks, her face became streaky as she sunk into the bed. She was alone on her wedding night, the most joyous day of her life. Well what was supposed to be joyous.
She changed into an old, battered long sleeve night shirt and fluffy pajama pants, before she charmed her hair to just lay in a ratted bun instead of pinned together like before. She did not even bother washing her face, leaving the remanence of her pain on her face. It would leave another painful reminder in the morning but she did not care at the moment. Her body and mind was extremely fatigued from the events of the day.
She silently crept down the stairs, exploring only slightly while trying to locate the kitchen. She knew if this was Sirius's home there would be alcohol somewhere. She hit the jackpot after opening one cabinet in the kitchen. She grabbed a bottle of fire whiskey, forgoing a glass, she popped the seal off and gave it a big chug.
Once she was back in her room, she turned her record player on that had been moved into her room. Playing her favorite record, she once again today sang along to "Try A Little Tenderness", while crying into a bottle of whiskey that was soothing her soul slightly after every chug. Soon the bottle was empty and so were her tears, she just laid on her bed and listened to the song on repeat.
Isn't she lovely, this Hollywood girl
And they say
She's so lucky
It was March, spring smells started filling the air slowly. She and Sirius had been married for around four months now, four long, lonely, and cold months. They never spent anytime together, other than the slight PDA at family gatherings and galas. The bare minimum of an arm around the other for a few seconds of the night. His mother had been shoving the ideas of an heir, the pressure of continuing their pure-blood legacy with another Black to join the bunch. This would not have been such a bad idea, but their marriage was not consummated yet. She was not really sure if it ever will be.
She sat at a table, body clad with a darling dress. It was a baby blue, long sleeved dress. Flowing down passed her feet, a low slit running up the side. A drastic contrast to the dark colors of the people around her. Champagne buzzed through her system, making her brain a little fuzzy and her cheeks a tint of red. Her husband was no where to be found at the moment, she had just escaped his mother with more pressuring of a child.
She had recently been thinking of children. The house is very lonely, mostly just occupying her and a sweet, little elf named Peekey. She enjoyed their shared moments in the solitude of the dead home. Sirius was always away for work, or out on the weekends with Remus. Nothing was really confining her to the home, but with no friends outside of Healing School, she spent many cold nights alone in her bed.
"Your mother is such a... pest!" She whispered out to Regulus. Looking around to make sure no one was listening.
One thing had come from attending all of these gatherings. Her friendship with Regulus has rekindled, after hours filled with tears and sobs from both ends. Now they often spent most of the evenings at parties with each other. Regulus was much more intoxicated then she was. She did not mind though, the feeling of taking care of someone and them depending on her, filled her heart with happiness.
"Woah there, no need for name calling." Regulus snorted with rolled eyes. "Honestly, pest is too nice of a word."
"I'm serious Reggie. She keeps bombarding me with questions of a child! Sirius and I have not even..." Regulus cut his friend off.
"I do not need to hear about the sex life of my brother."
She huffed, stressed from the nights antics already. "I was going to say kissed."
She sipped more on her glass of champagne, scanning the room for any familiar faces. Only ones she did not really feel like conversing with in the moment. Polishing off her glass, she watched Regulus down another shot before stomping away towards the bathroom. While he was away, she refilled her glass and swirled it around. Many people gawked at her, mostly younger women with a few exceptions to older ones. In awe of the woman who married THE Sirius Black. They would constantly ask questions about what marriage was like to such a dreamy man. Call it what you want, but she wanted some fun with her life. She would make up wild stories of adventures and dates they had been on. Not wanting to crush their dreams of a doting husband, they would all fawn over sweet stories she would make up on the spot. Giggling slightly to herself when they would comment on how loving he seemed. Some even asked for dirty details, which she would flat out avoid talking about. Not only did she not know anything about Sirius sexually, she had no experience herself to fabricate a believable story. The questions were also extremely personal and uncomfortable for her.
"Oh dear, why don't you go find your husband. Call it an early night, you know. Heirs do not just make themselves." Walberga placed a gloved hand on her shoulder, ushering her to find Sirius with more comments on children.
She did not look very hard for Sirius, he was probably already gone. She was stationed near the restrooms, searching for her drunk friend. She spotted him across the room at the refreshment table once more. She quickly gathered him up, pulling the alcoholic beverage out of his hands and onto the table.
"Okay Reg, time to go home."
The journeys home with drunk Regulus are always a fun trip. They stopped around three times on the ride home for him to throw up outside of the carriage. Upon returning to her shared home, he spewed about twice, once on her shoes. She cleaned him up, tipping a glass of water into his mouth. She changed him into one of the spare sets of clothes he kept in her room, an agreement they made after Regulus had woken up in a puke-drenched shirt.
She laid him in her bed and walked to the connected bathroom to ready herself for bed. Her body felt the relief as the dress slipped off her body, she hung it up on the closet door. Switching into way less formal and more ratty sleeping clothes. Her hair pulled back messily, and her face cleansed of make up. They had at least three more events to make an appearance at within the next two weeks. Events she was dreading because his mother would be there.
Regulus was sprawled out on her bed, looking as if he was in a deep sleep. As she laid herself under the covers, he rolled towards her.
"You know, I'm a Black." He stated.
She giggled at his statement, "I do know that Reggie."
He laughed a bit groggy, rolling onto his other side.
"I just mean, I can give an heir and no one would question the paternity." He mumbled.
"What!?" She sort of yelled at her friend. The only response was loud snores from her drunk friend. Drunk, he was drunk. That's what she kept reminding herself as she tried to fall asleep.
The next morning, she decided to just forget what Regulus had proposed. He was beyond drunk and just processing the things she had said hours before.
Regulus woke up at some point in the afternoon, gladly accepting the potions she had to cure his hangover. Already having some food and water prepared for him, doting on people was a way she showed love. The thought of having someone to care for kept her heart beating.
"You know, I meant what I said last night."
"What?" The color draining from her face.
"I know mother can be... overbearing. Sirius does not seem like he would help you in this situation. I'm his brother and your best friend. Let me do this to make up for my actions when the marriage was announced." He held her hand, sitting up on her bed with the covers bunched around his clothed body.
"I don't know Reg, I still don't think I could do that to Sirius." She frowned with a sigh, truthfully she thinks that kids would make her life happier.
"Think about it as a friend helping a friend? Just think about it and the offer will stand. But for now, I gotta go. Work calls me in a few hours unfortunately."
Regulus left giving her one last "think about it" before heading to his home. The hours of the day dragged on slowly. She was not sure that Sirius would be home, but decided on making supper for them anyway. Which lead to another cold, and lonely night shared with her house elf.
She is so lucky, but why does she cry?
If there is nothing missing in her life
Why do tears come at night?
There was a birthday party at the Potter's today. For little Harry, his first birthday. Sirius had actually told her about this party and asked if she wanted to go. Granted he asked about two days ago, but nonetheless. This was the first event with his friends that he had asked her to tag along with in the seven months they had been married.
"Oh finally! I have been trying to get you to come over for months now!" Lily exclaimed towards the girl as she entered, taking the present for her son out of the girls hands and gave her a swift hug. "I tell Sirius to bring you every time he comes over, I was starting to think you don't like us."
This caught her off guard. She didn't even know Lily well enough to really dislike her, but the fact that she wanted her to come over and Sirius never told her.
"I'm sorry Lily, I've been having some... health issues recently."
"Are you-" She cut Lily off quickly.
"Oh no, not that. School and health issues. I'm always drained or doing some tests, but I finally had a free weekend and couldn't be happier to be here."
Although, there was a ping of sadness for her conversation with Lily. Plus, watching Harry all night did not help with the yearn for a child of her own. She never could find a time to bring it up to Sirius.
And again, she went home alone that night. Sirius jetting off to the bar with Remus, or at least that was what Remus told her they were doing. But she did not really care in the moment. She had a good day, left the house, spent time with old acquaintances from school, and got to see cute babies all day. Nothing could put her in a down mood.
It was around, roughly 9 p.m. when the doorbell rang. She was little surprised by that, normally Regulus called ahead and just walked in. Remus would walk in especially if he was with Sirius. She made her way down from her room, in only a tank top and shorts due to the temperature rising outside.
"Hello?" She answered the door a bit drowsy considering she was almost asleep a minute prior.
"Oh 'ello, little von. Is Sirius 'ome?" It was Nadia.
Nadia, Sirius's girlfriend before the arraignment was made. She looked as beautiful as ever standing in front of her in all her tall glory. It just did not make sense to her why she would be at her home.
"Oh, um no sorry. He isn't home right now." Her voice timid, like she was afraid to answer the woman in front of her.
"Shame. Wanted to tell 'em I had great time with 'em the other day. That I can not wait for next time. You tell 'em day for me?" Her smile looked devilish, like she was smirking in a triumphant victory.
The wind seemed knocked from her lungs and ears clogged.
"Sure, I'll let him know. You have nice night and be safe." She spoke before closing the door as the beautiful woman sauntered down the stairs to the house.
She felt like tears were going to explode out of her eyes, she did not understand why it hurt so much. She felt so dumb, of course he was cheating on her. She also felt stupid for being upset, Sirius treated her considerable good for what some arranged marriages have been, the relatives she's seen. He is not abusive, just they do not communicate. He can be cold towards her when they speak, the little they do speak, but he has never been extremely cruel towards her.
She feels betrayed in a way, she put her happiness aside to stay loyal to a man who could careless about her in general. Without thinking she picked up the landline in the kitchen and dialed Regulus's number.
"I've changed my mind Reggie. I want a baby. Meet at my house Friday night." She did not even wait for him to respond before placing the phone back down.
Her school had just let out for the year, her week was so barren that she decided she would not waste a single night sober. Starting tonight, she took a cheap bottle of wine up to her bedroom, listening to music, and sipping on the bottle. She thought about her life once more. What had she done to deserve this? She was always good, always listening and obeying. She did not reject the idea of marrying someone her parents paired her to, even when it meant losing a friend. Now her husband is cold and unfaithful. She could handle him being cold and resenting towards her, but the fact that he would seek comfort in someone else. It just hurt, was she not pretty enough for him? Not his type? Was he repulsed by the idea of her so much that he spent every weekend and day he could away from her and their shared home. She was not even invited to her own weddings after party because her husband arranged it without telling her.
She feels silly, she's living a comfortable life that anyone would be happy to have. Technically she is married to The Sirius Black, any girl would swoon at those thoughts. Her home is a decent size, enough for her to have her own space. She had doting elves that are just too cute, lavish parties that require gorgeous dresses and expensive jewelry to attend. Riches from an old, wealthy family, though she does not dive into their funds and uses her own money. Except when her mother in law gives her money for dresses. She was about to start her own healing career. Her life was like a dream come true to others, making her feel selfish for wanting more. Pathetic for crying and drinking over what is considered minor in their marriage.
This went on more about two more days, drinking until she passed out, throwing up on her sheets, sobering up enough to change them and lounge around for the rest of the day, barricading in her room. She took two days off of drinking, her stash was running low and she needed to run to the store. But she felt no motivation to leave her bed.
Thursdays were days Sirius did not work, so he normally went out on Wednesdays. She assumed he had been gone for hours now, she was half a bottle of whiskey deep, and now out of alcohol. But she was not done for tonight, not even close. With the day approaching for Regulus to show up, the more nervous she got, the more nervous she was the more scared she became. Life moved so fast for her, she was not even twenty yet. But this how life goes for the woman in her family and many others. The fact that she was yet to conceive a child was alarming to her parents and Sirius's, although they did not know they had not even tried.
Not her best moment, but decided she would go to the store in this moment for more alcohol. The air was bit colder than she thought, hugging herself she stumbles down the paved side walk, clutching money in one of her hands. Singing quietly to herself, a strong breeze almost knocked her over. She stumbled almost to the ground, laughing at the fact before steadying herself and continuing towards the store.
She bumped shoulders with a tall, lanky man.
"Oops! Sorry Sir." She giggled before walking forward.
The man gently grabbed her arm, pulling her towards him and around to face him.
"What are you doing out this late?" He asked, almost sounding concerned.
"Oh hi Remus! Jus- gettin' more of me whiskeyyyy, I ran out." She pouted at the end of her sentence.
"You really shouldn't be out at night, especially drunk and alone. Where are your shoes?" She looked down at her bare feet, toes stiffly wiggling in the cold.
"Oh!" she giggled "must've forgotten them? I jus-really got out of me bed." Her accent coming through a little thicker.
"Okay, you barely have clothes, let's get you home. Where is Sirius?" Remus questioned, leaning forward to help the girl lean against him. Taking the cash from her hand when she complained about it cramping.
"Ion knowww... thought he was with youuu!!" She poked his belly slightly before focusing back on her stepping.
"You know, hodoubenekakskndbrehisyxh."
"What did you say?" Remus laughed at her incoherent speech a little bit.
"I have no idea." She hiccuped and held tighter around his waist when she felt she was about to fall.
"You are pretty entertaining little one, you should come out with us some time."
"Sirius never invites me, didn't even 'vite me to me own wedding party." She grumbled.
Remus grimaced, eyebrows furrowed, "he did not invite you?"
"Nope, Lily told me. But why go somewhere I am unwanted you know.
"We want you there. You are our friends wife, we want to be your friend too." Remus reasoned with her.
"Maybe. But some people do not. That's okay though, it doesn't matter." Her body shutters as the urge to cry flows up into her eyes. She's unable to control the tears that flow down.
Remus stops when he hears her sobbing. "Hey it's okay, there is no need to- is that blood? Why are your tears red? Are you crying blood? Oh shit!! What do I..."
Remus started to freak out, but she calmed him down in a second.
"It's a medical 'dition. I 'cry blood' sometimes. I fine, promise." She smiled at him as he wiped her eyes, but another wave of tears washes over her. "I think Sirius is cheating on me."
Remus stiffened, "why do you think that?"
"Nadia came over the other day. Said so, with her too. Are we almost home, I'm tired."
Remus picked her up and carried her the block back to her home, he had been heading this way originally. But him and Sirius had some matter to discuss currently. When he reached the home someone was outside, in front of the door.
Regulus had also shown up wanted to speak to Sirius. Remus set her down in Regulus grasp, she giggled to her friend, telling him stupid jokes and how much she loved him as her best friend. The door was locked and she did not have her keys on her. Remus started banging on the door, waiting for Sirius to open up.
The sight behind the door on Sirius's end was honestly hilarious. His best friend looking slightly irritated, his brother worried and almost nervous, and his wife smiling and drunk beyond recollection.
"We need to talk." Remus said flat.
The group moved inside.
"I need to talk with you too brother, but I'm going to take care of her first." Regulus walked her up the stairs and out of the vision of the other boys.
"So what is it you need to talk about Rem." Sirius asked relaxed, lounging on the couch, assuming Remus would follow.
"Are you serious?" Remus stood in front of him.
"Yes?" Sirius looked confused.
"No you fucking idiot. I found YOUR wife drunk and alone, almost into the middle of the town. Barely clothed, no shoes, and a wad of cash in her hands." Remus tried to keep his voice steady, tossing the cash into Sirius's chest.
"Oh. I had no idea she was gone." Sirius felt uncomfortable under his friends gaze.
"She told me how you don't invite her out with us on the weekends, and I know Lily practically begs you. Did you really not invite her to the party after your-HER wedding." Remus's voice was fluctuating between anger and disappointment.
Sirius closed his eyes. He felt horrible about how he had been treating her, how cold he had been. How stand-offish, but truthfully he just did not know how to process and handle his emotions.
"Merlin Sirius! Do you know anything about your wife?" Remus exclaimed, gripping his hair in irritation.
"Not really." He sighed, holding his face in his hands.
"She cries blood."
"She- what? She was bleeding? Was she okay?" Sirius perked up at the mention of blood.
"No! She cries blood apparently, her tears have a red tint in them." Remus softened his voice looking at his shocked friend.
Sirius knew he fucked up, he knew that three months into their marriage, he knew that the hours after their officiated ceremony. He felt bad, horrible, but he did not know how to fix it.
"She thinks you are cheating on her." Remus spoke, his voice becoming strict.
"What? I'm not cheating on her." Sirius looked confused. He had been faithful to her, although he was cold, he would never cheat on someone. "You know I would never, not after... not after her."
"I know that. But does she. I guess Nadia came over the other, told her to tell you what a great time she had and you should see each other again. Sirius have you two even... consummated the marriage?" Sirius shook his head, causing a groan to slip from Remus's mouth, "I know you wouldn't but please tell me you didn't." Remus was extremely serious. Although he was not her friend, he knew how sweet and kind she normally was. She was different from all the girls Sirius had been with previously.
"No! I haven't really even seen Nadia for three months. I haven't slept with her since before our wedding. She keeps trying to coerce me, but I refuse her. I swear it Rem." Sirius pleaded.
"Yeah, that's something you need to tell her tomorrow." Regulus walked down the stairs towards the pair of boys. "She called me the other night, drunk as all get out. She really thinks you are cheating. It crushing her more than the fact that you don't talk to her."
"I don't know what to do!" Sirius dug the heels of his palms into his eyes, trying to relive some of the pressure "I don't know how to talk to her! I've never not known how to talk to a girl before her."
"Well big brother, you have until Friday. I'm supposed to come over while you are gone and give your wife a baby." Regulus said nonchalantly.
"What!?" Remus and Sirius shouted at the same time.
"You don't touch my wife!" Sirius exclaimed pointing an accusatory finger at his younger brother.
Regulus held his hands up in defense. "I'm not doing it because I want to steal your wife from you. She's my best friend, never been nothing more. But mother is pressuring her about when the next heir is born. Since you haven't noticed it at every single family events, too busy doing whatever. I offered it in a drunk stupor and she declined. But one night she called me crying saying she wanted a baby and wanted it to be Friday while you were out with your friends."
Honestly this knowledge crushes Sirius. He felt so guilt ridden for how this whole situation had ended, especially since most of it is his fault.
"You are so lucky! I am such a good brother. I didn't have to tell you about this, I could have just given her what she wants. What would satisfy everyone involved, but I knew her hesitance in betraying you. Even when she believes you are betraying her, she shook up stairs because she was scared the time had come. I had to reassure her and wipe away her tears that she was safe. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY TEARS YOU HAVE CAUSED HER! Huh? How many crying phone calls and times I've had to come over to make sure she was okay after so many lonely nights. She always wore a smile towards me, always said nice things about you to me. People have told her since your wedding that she's lucky, so lucky to have had you as her husband. But brother, I believe it is you who are lucky to have her as your wife." Regulus stopped his rant, continuing to pace across the room, as he had done during the whole one-sided argument.
There was an uncomfortable silence between the three men in the parlor. All sorts of emotions clouding judgments and rational thinking. Sirius had silently decided what he had to do, what he needed to do.
"Regulus. Do not come back to my house, at least not on Friday. Remus, I'm canceling this weekend. Now if you would please leave my home." Sirius spoke in a monotone voice, a voice that made Remus uneasy having barely heard this tone before.
Silently, he watched Sirius descend up the stairs and out of sight around a corner before exiting the home.
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night?
Her nerves were at an all time high, today was the day that Regulus was supposed to come over. She was having extreme second thoughts, she still was not sure she could betray Sirius to this level. A child with his own brother, it just felt morally inappropriate and embarrassing.
Even though he offered first, she felt she was using Regulus in a poorly planned game of chess. Like he was a pawn in a little game, but she was a pawn in another game much higher above herself. She had spent that couple days isolated in her room. No attempts to contact Regulus and in return he had not tried to contact her either. The time for him to arrive was vastly approaching, butterflied filled her stomach at the thought.
She wrapped her arms around her torso, covering up the silk nightgown she had on with a matching silk robe. Her body felt cold and numb, like an out of body experience. She felt this would be another night of crying alone, no comfort and none expected to be given.
Her ears perked up at the hefty knock on the door. Bile raised in her throat. Merlin, she needed this baby so her in laws would back off for a bit. But she could not do it. Her heart clenched at the fear of the child she may never have. She just could not go through with this plan, not if it could potentially hurt Sirius.
She made her way to the door, hands shaking and legs wobbly.
"I can't do it Reggie! I'm sorry." She sobbed into her hands, not really sure why she's crying.
"Can we talk?" Her head snapped upwards at the voice. Sirius. She looked like a deer caught in headlights, her heart racing like light speed.
"Uh, Sure." she wiped her eyes quickly, confused when Sirius took one of her hands in his and walked her to sit down next to him on her bed. He seemed just as jittery, just as nervous as she was currently. They looked like messes and it was the truest sight of this couple.
"I know what you and my brother had planned." He said simply.
She stammered, lip quivering. "I'm sorry Sirius! I'm so sorry. I understand if you would like me to leave." Her head hung low, shame flooded her system.
"Darling, look at me." He spoke softly, nudging her cheek with his thumb. Looking into her sad and puffy eyes, offering a small smile to her. "I am not upset about the arrangement. I am upset because of how awful I have been towards you."
There was silence between the pair, very awkward and suffocating.
"I have not cheated on you. I know Nadia says otherwise. But I have not been with her since about two weeks before our wedding. It just did not feel right." Sirius confessed to his wife.
Her tears built up again, spilling over without a second thought. "I was going to be the one who cheated?"
She pulled her hands out of his, feeling disgusted by her own skin. Deeming it not worthy to be held against his skin, though he was not perfect.
"Sweetheart, it's okay! Regulus told me the other day. I am not mad, I promise. I understand the pressure you are under with mother. Which is why I am here, well one of the reasons." He grabbed her hands once more, having her look directly into his eyes.
"I think you and I should have a baby. I want to be a good husband to you, I just... I don't know how to be good to you. You confuse me and make me feel weird things, things I do not really understand. I've wasted so much time on being scared, I ignored your pain and sorrow, my little dove." Sirius stammered, his own eyes seeming to tear up.
"Sirius, it's okay-" he cut her off.
"No! It's not. I have so much to make up, I don't even know how to start. But let me show you love the best way I know how! Let me give you a baby and we can work from that point on, please?" Sirius slid off the bed and kneeled in front of her sitting body, pulling her hands up his lips for slow and sensual kisses. "I promise, if you help me, I will become the most emotional and loving husband. I have a lot to make up and I want to start working on that. I want you to feel the same way about me, that I have felt since my fourth year at school."
She gasped in shock. "You liked me in school?"
"Well, I didn't know then. But thinking about it and the teasing the boys gave me at times. I definitely did have a tiny crush on you." His face blushed red, embarrassed over such a tiny secret.
"Okay. We can have a baby, but please tell me our love won't only be physical?" She sounded sad, such a tone that broke his heart.
"Please teach me how to properly love you? How to handle my emotions, help me not become my father." He leaned close to her, engulfing her in a tight embrace. Rolling onto the bed, his face buried into her neck as small sobs escape his lips.
They laid together sideways on the bed for a little while, holding each other as if the other was going to fade away from their grasps. Sirius was holding her tighter than she was him, his face still buried into her neck. Inhaling her sweet scent that drove him mad, caressing her cheek with the hand that laid adorn on her face. Finally showing signs of tenderness that she had been craving for months at this point. While he caressed her face, her hand was scratching along the base of his skull. Twirling the ends of his hair before running lightly over the sensitive skin, causing a shiver to run down his spine.
His sobs quieted down, not even sniffling traced his mouth. His eyes still heavy and red with evidence of crying, slowly he started peppering light kisses along her neck. Her hand stopped playing with his hair, surprised by how loving Sirius was being.
"Why'd-ya stop?" He whined out, his words slurred as if he were drunk from her touch.
"I have a confession Sirius." She sat up and moved towards her pillows at the headboard of her bed. "I've never done this before."
Sirius noticed the pink tinge on her cheeks, finding her shyness adorable. But he understood her nervousness as he intently listened to the words she spoke.
"I-I just don't... I don't want it to be bad for you." She huffed, her hands falling in her crossed lap as her head hung low.
"I can promise, it won't be bad for me." He chuckled lightly trying to lighten the mood before following her up the bed and sitting next to her. "We can take it slow, or we don't even have to do that tonight love."
"But, I want to. Do you want to y'know with me." Her face was bright red, voice lacking confidence at her own statement.
"Of course I do! You are my wife after all. We can go slow, I'll be gentle. Lay down for me darling?" Sirius spoke with comforting enthusiasm.
She did as he told her, scooting down slightly to lay on her back comfortably. Her heart raced wildly as Sirius watched her move. They were not even touching, yet the whole scene felt so intimate to her. It did not help that this was her first time and knowing Sirius was experienced did little to bring her comfort.
"Have you ever kissed anyone?" She shook her head at him, feeling embarrassment burning again. "It's okay sweetheart, I don't mind teaching you."
Sirius crawled over her, hovering on all fours over her slightly rigid body. He ducked his head down to slowly press his lips against hers, a little more than a peck. He gently moved her arms to wrap around his neck, nudging one of her hands back into his hair causing her to giggle against his lips. Sirius turned his head sideways, deepening the kiss by putting more assertion into it. They kissed each others lips until she started gaining confidence in herself.
Sirius broke the kiss, pulling back completely to sit on his heels. Her legs were trapped underneath his body. She whined a little as he pulled away, her body raising to follow his lips earning a chuckle from him. "Have patience little one."
He rolled the black, tight-fitted shirt off of his broad chest, muscles flexing slightly as he tossed it aside onto the floor. She studied his naked chest. Acknowledging his toned build from years in quidditch, his smooth, pale skin, so warm and welcoming. Breath hitching at the trail of dark hair that disappeared under his belt. Sirius shifted his body, pulling her smooth legs to frame around his hips. Her short nightgown bunching around her hips, flashing a slight glimpse of her panties.
He leaned towards her lips again, the kiss stronger than the other ones previously. On instinct, she wrapped her arms around his neck once more. One hand combing through his locks that she noticed he seemed to throughly enjoy. His chest pressed against her, the silk of the nightgown raised bumps against his skin. Sirius's tongue timidly licked across her closed lips, wanting gain access to the inside of her mouth. She parted her lips slightly, the tips of their tongues touching ever so slightly.
He slipped his tongue further into her mouth, exploring the taste of her. Her body became stiff once more, unsure of what to do with her own tongue as his invaded her mouth. She quite liked the taste of him, but became flustered in the thoughts of how she should move her mouth against his skilled tongue. He pulled his mouth away from hers, a string of saliva following before snapping against his lower lip.
"Just relax and follow my lead." Sirius's spoke lovingly, petting the hair along her forehead to try and soothe her nerves.
Their tongues meet once again, he licked delicately at her tongue. She followed the motions he was doing with uneasy fervor. She liked the feeling of the soft muscle against her own, creating an intoxicating feeling of euphoria and pleasure. Sirius drug one of his fingers down her face, tracing the outline of her features as her reaches her neck. Slow touches cascade further down until it softly caressed over her nipple, his large hands engulfing most of her breast. "Is this okay?" He asked pulling away once more. She mumbled a 'yes' as she closed her eyes, basking in the feeling of his hands in her body in such a sensual way.
His hand needed at the tender flesh, his thumb circling around her hardening bud with a feather-like touch. Sirius moved his face back into the side of her neck, showering slow kisses in many places. He sucked slightly on her sweet skin and with the right amount of pressure on her breast, pulled an unexpected moan from her throat. Not only surprising herself but Sirius as well. He bucked his hips forward into her, almost moaning at the noise of her himself.
"Can I take this off?" His fingers moved from her breast to the end of her nightgown, toying with the hem between his fingers waiting for her permission.
She agreed and sat up slightly so he could pull the dress off completely. This left her bare breast and only panties covering her body. Sirius looked mesmerized by the sight of uncharted skin between them.
"I know it's not much to offer." She stated, noticing his staring.
"Let me show you something." Sirius moved off of her, popping the button of his dark jeans open and practically ripping them off his legs. Leaving both of them in only underwear. He took her hand and lead it down the happy trail of dark hair. "This! This is what you do to me, you little minx. You are so beautiful!" He whined out as he helped her palm him through his thin, black boxers.
Sirius pulled her hands away from him, leaning forward once more. He kissed around her chest, along the fat of her breasts and up the valley between them. He repeated the action with his tongue dragging around them as well. He enclosed one of her nipples into his warm mouth, sucking against it like it was his life's mission. The noises he was pulling from her made him feel like a god. The fact that she was enjoying his company and he could give her pleasure had his ears, as well as other parts, rushing with blood.
He caressed a hand along her naval, rubbing soothing circles into her hips as they slightly rocked into his body. He played with the lace decor of her panties, rubbing over the growing wet patch. Her breathing became heavy, a surge of desire rushing through her bloodstream as his fingers ghosted over the aching areas.
"You can- you can touch me there, underneath them if you would like to." She murmured, eyes shut and focusing on the pleasurable feeling he was giving.
"Do you want me to?" He smiled at her through hooded eyes, her face contorting in turmoil.
"Yeah, please Sirius."
"How could I say no to such a pretty little thing."
Her cheeks tinted red from his comment as he hooked the sides of her panties with his fingers and slide them down her legs at a teasing speed. His thumb teased between the folds, finding her slightly engorged clit. Rubbing half-circles over it, he noticed her tense at the motions, legs trying to clamp shut. He dipped his thumb lower to reveal the seeping wetness and exposing it to his skin before dragging it back up to her clit. This time pressing harder as he circled it fully, watching the pleasure on her face the entire time.
Ears perking and cock twitching as the quiet, breathy moans of his name she let out. He switched hands, letting one continue to rub her aching clit as the other hand moved lower towards her entrance. Easily slipping a single finger in, catching her by surprise. He worked it in and out while simultaneously stroking her clit. Once her moans start to become more frequent, he added another finger into the mix.
"How's this? Feel good?" Sirius whispered into her ear, voice husky and full of lust.
"Mmhmm!" She mumbled out her answer quick, eyes shutting to focus on the pleasure and new sensation.
Her body continued to quiver against his, and judging by the way she was clenching around his fingers. He knew she was close. He applied more pressure with his thumb, her moans became more consistent with his strokes. Her moan cut off suddenly, her mouth forming an 'o' shape as her body shuttered against his.
Sirius could tell she was cumming before she even knew what was happening. "That's it, what a good girl." She clenched harder around him as her breath started to even out slightly.
He pulled his fingers out of her, maintaining eye contact as he sensually pushed his fingers past his own lips. Sucking softly on them as a groan lifted from his chest. Blood rushing more south by the taste of her. The tange catching his arousal off guard for a second. "Are you ready darling? We can take it slow, we don't have to tonight."
"I want to! I-I want you Sirius. I need you." She babbled as she watched his fingers fall slowly from his mouth.
The air became thick with need as Sirius moved away from her to undress himself fully. His breathing became heavy as he slowly pulled his boxers off, teasing himself from the rushed and frantic pleasure he normally endured during hook-ups from the past. She peered at him from between her legs. He was about to be her first everything, the first cock she would have ever seen. It looked perfect to her, even having never seen another before.
He was a medium sized girth. The length looked like a comfortable size, sure there would be a stretch with it being her first time. But he looked to be a comfortable fit, not looking too scary with a slight curve upward. Sirius crawled over her, his hands holding himself up with her head in between his hands. He looked intently down at her. Lust still prevalent but a look of longing and love also filled his senses. He leaned down and collected her lips into a deep kiss full of passion.
"Are you ready?" He kissed along her neck waiting for her to respond to him. She told him that she was ready, he reached between them and ran his cock between her, caressing her clit with the tip a few times.
He caught her entrance for a second and pushed forward slightly, engulfing most of the tip inside. She squealed quietly with the pressure sensation, pulling his shoulders down towards her. Sirius began pushing in further, taking his time and making sure she was relaxed as he pushed more in. About halfway down, she clamped up and began for hyperventilate. He looked up at her face, noticing her eyes screwed shut, he tried to pull out but she told him that she was okay and he could continue.
The pressure was not necessarily painful, the remanence of her first orgasm still fresh within her body helped her relax. He started stretching her more and more the further he pushed until he bottomed out completely inside of her. He kissed around her face as she squealed once more because of the full feeling that held within her blissed stomach. He rested against her body, chests pressed firmly against each other as he cradled her head in his hands. Her arms around his neck as the slight pain dissolved.
"Sirius?" She whispered in his ear.
"Yes love?"
"You can move now."
Sirius kissed her lips once more and trailed more down to her neck as he slowly pulled his hips back from her body. Tentatively, he rocked forward into her, moaning at the warm, suction she was giving him. He was not sure what it was, probably emotions, but sex for him had never felt this good. Each gentle stroke he made into her, sent shocks of pleasure to each finger tip of his. His face fell into her neck, muffling every little or loud noise he made against her. The vibrations of the noises sent a sense of pride through her body.
Still sensitive from the previous orgasm, she felt amazing and comfortable. The happy trail that lead to wide patch of trimmed black hair rubbed against her clit. A tingling sensation filling her chest each time he pushed forward. Her own hips starting to rock into his calm strokes.
"I-I've never - oh merlin-" the feeling of her clench around him as his thumb softly circled her clit once more cut his words off. "Never had sex... this slow.. I- never thought it to—be this...glorious. Baby you feel so good." He moaned loudly each time she clamped onto him.
"Feel so full Sirius. Feel so wonderful." Her hand pulled at the nape of his neck, catching his hair between her fingers. Legs locked around his hips as she felt herself nearing another end. The emotions running rampant through her body heightened every sense. The pleasure in her lower belly felt intense, causing tears to start to flow from her eyes. Another tight circle of his thumb had her coming undone around him. Moaning directly into his ear as she held him tighter to her body. Trying to seek every inch of him into her grasps.
The noises, the actions, everything about the whole interaction had Sirius convulsing. He was about to cum, almost embarrassing quick for himself. The feeling of her cumming worsened his control as he felt himself topple over the edge. Almost instantly spilling into her.
"I love you." Sirius held onto her tightly as she felt warmth fill up her womb. Her heart and body tightened as he listened to his words. Basking in the golden feeling she was currently experiencing. As Sirius weakly rocked through their orgasms she whispered back to him that she also loved him. Both of them feeling a copious amount of love and joyfulness.
The pair stayed like that for a little bit. Tears filled her eyes earlier were pooled down her cheeks but no more were spilling. Sirius was seated inside her still, not moving even and inch off of her. She noticed his shoulders start to shutter as well as the muffled sniffles against her shoulder.
"Sirius? Honey, what's wrong?" She stroked his head, running her fingers through his tangled, sweaty hair.
"It's nothing." He tried to mumble off but she persisted on coaxing out his misery. "I've never felt love like that. Never been slow and soft. Never felt so loved."
She continued to coo at him and give him reassuring compliments. But still he felt his own insecurities and doubts bubbling to the surface.
"I'm sorry. I don't normally blow my load that quick. I'll make it up to you I promise!"
"Sirius look at me." She grabbed his face with both hands and stared into his eyes, nothing but love and satisfaction on her face. "I couldn't have asked for a more perfect moment." Before pulling him into a comforting embrace.
When Sirius had finally pulled out of her, he quickly ran out of the room. She felt a bit confused but slightly hurt. He ran rather quick as if he was disgusted by the act the pair had just committed. Stress and worry started to fill her mind as she felt the tears pool into her eyes and spill over one tear at a time. She thought they had finally made a breakthrough, when she wiped her eyes she noticed the red stains from the tears. Perfect way to top it all off.
She hiccuped shocked when she watched Sirius waltz back into the room, fresh pair of boxers on his body. Hands full of clothes and a rag. He gently began to wipe down her shaky thighs and intimate parts.
"Why are you cry- are you bleeding? Oh Merlin! Did I hurt you?" Sirius spoke frantically, confused and hurt by the thoughts of hurting her.
"No, Sirius" she laughed slightly at him, "it's a condition I have."
He just nodded, unsure of what to say back to her. He decided to finish cleaning her up and dressed her in a pair of his boxers and a loose shirt. Topping it all off with a kiss to her lips. The pair cuddled up together under the covers. Her hand and head resting against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. His had his arm wrapped around her body, one hand resting of her stomach.
"Let's hope it took darling, though I would not mind trying again with you." Sirius giggled like a little teenage boy.
"Yes let's hope." She laughed along with him.
"I'm going to take you out tomorrow night. Just us. Some place nice. Some place you deserve." Sirius spoke with determination.
"I'd love that a lot Mr. Black." She peppered a few kisses against his chest before closing her eyes to drift off into sleep.
"I'd do anything for you, Mrs. Black."

HOUSE OF LIES .. and pride and bone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

pairing: regulus black x female reader
warnings: mentions of parental abuse, pain from getting dark mark, being lied to, let me know if there’s anything i’m missing.
Tumblr media
REGULUS BLACK was born into a house of lies, filled with pride and bone. from a young age he had been convinced that he was born with pure blood, and that it was a privilege. but as time went on regulus began to grow more withdrawn from it all. the day sirius left— the one person he felt had his back through it all, was the day he decided he would shove all those feelings away. if the order was so good, than why would his own brother leave him? regulus’ family were all safer if he had just kept to the old pureblood line. so he may be seen as cruel and untrustworthy, but all he was trying to do what protect sirius.
it was his seventh year at hogwarts, the summer before he received his dark mark. dark and ever insistent on his forearm to constantly remind him who he served. when regulus wasn’t wearing his house robes and school uniform he stayed in a sweater, which was much easier now that the weather started to turn cold under the autumn weather. he spent most of his days alone, the friends around him grew to be insufferable. constantly filled with pride of the horrible things they had done. there was nothing to be prideful about, regulus would think.
he started to see a particular pureblood witch around school, you. you were from a family just like his, but nonetheless you never let their cruel words get to you. you remained graceful and kind to everyone around you. something your parents would surely not approve of, but who was he to snitch on you?
the years before you were almost unnoticeable, keeping to yourself just as he was now. but with your parents constantly on your back you were practically forced to be around the boys who liked to torture people for simply existing just for fun. you were the voice of reason in the friend group, telling them off every time they went too far when bullying somebody. it didn’t help that you were beautiful, how you entered your seventh year at your full potential. grown into a lovely young woman that every boy noticed when they passed you in the halls.
it wasn’t like regulus cared— because he didn’t. but this jealousy would consume him every time some boy would look at you for too long. how you would speak sweet nothings to them, flirt with them. flash that beautiful smile of yours and touch their arm. he couldn’t help but wish it was him in their place instead of them. regulus didn’t know very much about you, you were a very private person, just like your family. always keeping secrets and never spilling anything bad that may happen behind closed doors. many would think you were loved, but regulus knew a family like that who had a girl like you was a recipe for trouble.
he knew it when he saw you come back from fall break with a bruise on your cheek and much more quiet than usual, how you blamed it on running into a door. most believed you, but regulus knew those tricks. he had used them before too.
regulus had never seen you break though, you wouldn’t allow it. if someone saw you break they would think you were weak, and as a girl who was constantly belittled by her own family for not being born a boy, that you couldn’t carry on the family name— you had to work twice as hard to prove your worth and capabilities. that was not about to be diminished. you couldn’t be seen as weak.
and just as soon as he started to think you were unbreakable, a force to be reckoned with— you snapped in the slytherin common room when evan rosier went on and on about the importance of blood purity. “merlin— evan.” you sighed, rubbing your face in annoyance. evan looked over at you with a confused look. “what?” he questioned. “you try so hard to prove yourself all of the time.” you explained, your hand dropping to your lap.
“i’m not trying to prove myself.” evan scoffed, trying to protect his toxic traits. you laughed, because his insecurities shined through effortlessly. “what are you laughing about?” evan asked, standing up angrily. you shook your head and held up your hand, trying to conceal the smile on your face. “nothing, nothing.” you let another laugh slip from your mouth.
“you’re unbelievable, y/n.” evan shook his head, and sat back down. “go take a walk or something.” evan shooed you off and you raised your eyebrows with a smirk on your face, standing up. “fine, i didn’t want to be here anyways.” you said truthfully, and made your way to the hallway. as regulus watched you leave he couldn’t help but get up and go after you, the rest of the boys teasing him as he did so. he shot evan a glare as he left which caused him to go quiet. none of them ever messed with regulus, he was the strongest one out of them all. it would be foolish to do so.
as he made his way down the hall to catch up with you, the sun setting through the windows to cast a golden hue onto the pair, he stopped when he caught up to you. “are you chasing after me, black?” you asked in a teasing tone which earned a rare laugh from him. “just wanted to make sure you’re okay, that was a little out of character of you.” regulus pointed out and you nodded, folding your arms. “it’s not.” you whispered as the both of you continued to walk and headed out into the courtyard, the cold air hitting both of your faces.
“it’s not?” regulus inquired curiously. “those boys have annoyed me since we were kids, especially evan. i’ve just always held it in.” you explained and he nodded. “those boys.” regulus repeated. “does that include me?” he asked and you shook your head. “i feel as though you’re much more humble when it comes down to the terrible things you’ve done.” the words pulled at his heart strings a bit. the terrible things he has done. and although it was the truth, it hurt hearing it from someone else.
“well, you have no room to speak.” he defended and you stopped in your tracks, turning to face him so he would stop walking too. you weren’t in the mood to have someone pick at your faults. “why did you chase after me?” you asked forwardly. “because if you’re here to play hero, i don’t want to hear any of it.” you shook your head.
“i’m not here to play hero.” he confirmed and you stared at him for a moment. your eyes flicking back and forth between both eyes. “do you feel like a hero, then?” you asked, trying to figure him out. “in what regard?” he asked. “in any regard.” you shrugged, then motioned down to his forearm. he looked down at it for a moment and then back up to you. regulus thought for a moment, “i’ve done what my brother never could.” he explained. you didn’t say anything.
“what?” he asked, trying to get more from you. you never revealed your feelings like you were now, it was a rare moment he was grasping at. “how did you join him so easily?” you asked, and he stared. no answer. “did you think you were doing the right thing, truly?” you continued, and again he didn’t respond.
doing the right thing? it was a loaded question, because deep down he knew it wasn’t right. but that fear of losing those close to him was installed within him. he joined because he had to. you scoffed, turning to walk away. “that’s what i thought.” you said, continuing towards the rolling hills behind the school. regulus stood in place for a moment, dumbfounded before going after you again.
“stop chasing me regulus.” you were kind with your words but your tone was form. “and you think you’re so amazing? you haven’t done the best of things either!” regulus picked right up where you left off. you turned on your heels. “so you admit it, what you’re doing is wrong.” you caught him and he furrowed his eyebrows in disgust. “you’re insufferable.” he mumbled.
“don’t lie, you know you like me.” you teased with a smile on your face and he shook his head. “i don’t like you.” he defended. “says the one who went chasing after me, twice.” you reminded him. regulus didn’t speak, he had never seen you like this. not ever, and maybe it was because of the comfort of no one being around, or maybe it was just him.
it was true, he did like you. but the way you spoke to him, the way you prodded at his insides like it was so easy, it unsettled him in a way he had never felt before. you made him question the good and the bad. you made him question his entire existence, the dark mark on his arm. how he hated his brother for two years.
“the dark lord is true, you should believe that.” he explained, because he knew it was dangerous to think otherwise and he could tell you were leaning away from it all. “he is not true, you of all people should know that.” you motioned towards him. “why should i think such a thing?” he questioned.
“do you not know?” you asked, your eyebrows pressing together to form a thin line in between them. “what are you talking about?” he asked, stepping forward. “about sirius.” you explained further in hopes he would know what you’re talking about. he didn’t.
“your brother didn’t choose to leave, he was forced to.” you explained to him, and he tilted his head as if he was asking for more information from you. “he chose the good side, they wanted to punish him for that. it was your parents who went to the dark lord for help.” you continued. regulus froze, unsure if he should even believe you.
“you’re not a stupid person, regulus black. i would have assumed you knew this by now.” you folded your arms. “they pushed him out, otherwise sirius would’ve never left you alone in that house.” you continued. “how would you know this?” he asked. “because i know your brother, i talked to him quite often actually. he cared about you a lot.” you explained and tears threatened to spill from his eyes. “my brother didn’t care about me.” regulus shook his head.
“you would be a fool to believe your brother didn’t love you.” you made him realize, and he grew quiet. “look at you regulus, you have spent the last two years trying to prove that you are not your brother. you received the dark mark, you have done everything your parents and the dark lord have asked you to. if you were to ask me i would say that is you pushing sirius away because you loved him and he loved you.” you explained your thoughts.
“why should you question my intent?” he asks, motioning towards you. “to me you seem like a double dealing witch.” he spat and you scoffed. “you say witch like it’s a bad thing.” you unfolded your arms. “so why did you join the death eaters then?” you asked and regulus didn’t respond. “no answer— of course. right now all i see is a young boy who’s heart has been shattered over and over again, so vain and foolish, and so easily riled.”
regulus was quiet, she was right. everything he did was to protect sirius, and now it was all falling into place. he wasn’t protecting sirius, he wasn’t helping anyone. he wasn’t a hero.
“i have to go.” he whispered.

Sirius Black x fem!reader oneshot
PLAYING PRETEND
SUMMARY you grew up as a pureblood Slytherin from Wales, after moving close to London with your mother, you meet the very particular Sirius Black at a housewarming party.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sirius Black has always been one for shows. He never really cared to sit still and be quiet. He always had something to say. While many might believe that it is good that he's an outspoken young man, many would disagree. Some of those people would happen to be his family: The Noble House of Black. He has always been scolded by his mother because of his need to cause trouble. He is left with hidden bruises and scars that he is forced to cover up with expensive robes and garments that he is both ashamed of but simultaneously proud.
He has never agreed with his parents on the topic of blood supremacy. While his family is associated exclusively with those they deem ‘pure’, Sirius is off galavanting around with ‘blood-traitors’, ‘half-breeds’ and ‘mudbloods’. This has infuriated his mother and father.
Naturally, at a ‘party’, so to speak, welcoming a brand new pureblood family to the area from France, Sirius decides he wants to act out. He starts to loudly defend his friends after an off-hand comment from his mother about Sirius’ habits, which led to a slap on the wrist and a promise for something much worse if he is to step even a toe out of line the rest of the night. Afterwards, his mother takes him to greet the hosts. He overheard a few adults talking about how they moved here from France. He also heard some slightly nastier comments about the woman's late husband.
“Thank you so much for coming Mrs. Black, It’s a pleasure,” The hostess greets, her french accent very prominent.
“Thank you for inviting us,” his mother responds, a hint of coldness in her tone.
“I take it you are enjoying yourselves?” She asks. Sirius doesn’t know how he feels about having another pureblood family living near him. There’s already too many of them to begin with. The two converse for a while. He tries to slip away but that just earns a tight grip around his wrist and a comment about how she wants to keep an eye on him so he doesn’t cause any trouble.
“This is my daughter, Y/n.” Lydia, Sirius picked up from their conversation, pulls a young girl, looking to be close in age to him, over towards her. Y/n offers a polite smile and a curtsy.
“Walburga Black,” his mother introduces
“Pleasure,” she responds back, an accent similar to her mother. She stands up straight and keeps her head up, a stern look on her face, yet a small polite smile graced her lips. He is suddenly grabbed by the wrist by his mother and thrust forward so he is standing beside her instead of behind.
“This is my son,” She forces a smile. “Introduce yourself,” She scolds quietly behind gritted teeth.
“Sirius, Sirius Black,” He bows politely. When he stands up straight once more, he is met with the stern glare from the girl across from him. Her head is held high and her eyes narrowed, as if she was analysing him. While she was visibly shorter, her stare made him feel small. Sirius could already tell she was like them. She seems nasty like a lot of his family.
“Sirius,” Walburga scolds, her nails gripping his shoulder, causing him to look at her, then towards Lydia.
“I assume you also attend Hogwarts?” She repeats. His gaze flicks to Y/n, who has her brow raised.
“Yes, I’m a Gryffindor,” He says, somehow feeling ashamed to admit that in front of them. He’s never been ashamed of being a Gryffindor, but these bloody purebloods make him feel like he should be ashamed.
“Pity,” Y/n chimes in, venom lacing her voice.
“Y/n is a Slytherin,” Lydia beams. “Making prefect next year.” She says, almost a brag. She goes to Hogwarts? Sirius feels as if he would have recognized her. Apparently not.
Walburga, Lydia and Y/n chat for a while, Sirius eventually moving back behind his mother once more, wanting to keep out of the conversation. They were talking about Y/n’s accomplishments, apparently she was a painter and made most of the paintings littered along the walls of their house. Sirius must admit it’s a lot more lively than his own. Instead of the walls being decorated with blacks and greys, the walls are painted dark green and the walls are adorned with hanging plants, pictures, paintings and all sorts of decorations and memorabilia.
Of course, Sirius takes his mothers distraction as a ticket to walk away. He socializes with a few people, those he deems more interesting than his dear mother. Eventually, Bellatrix, his cousin, decides to spoil what little fun he was having by intentionally poking and prodding. Sirius likes to say he doesn’t have a short temper, and usually he doesn’t, but he has very little tolerance for slander about his friends of any kind.
He snaps at his cousin, and she pulls out her wand, causing a scene. After a nasty curse, he is on the ground holding his stomach in pain. Walburga is next to the scene, scolding Sirius for causing a scene.
“What seems to be the matter?” Lydia pushes through the crowd.
“I must apologize for Sirius. He isn’t the most well mannered child,” She spits through gritted teeth. Lydia looks at Sirius, a split second of pity is seen on her features before it being covered up by a hard exterior.
“No mind him,” she waves it off before turning her attention towards his cousin. “No hexing in my house,” She says sternly. Some other commotion goes on and the crowd dissipates as people whisper to one another, before returning to their conversations.
Y/n walks over to him, standing in front of the spot he was still on the floor, his hand clinging to his stomach.
“Can you walk?” She asks harshly. He stands up quickly, regretting the decision and wincing at the pain. He composes himself, looking down at her.
“Im fine, thank you,” She nodded politely, just wanting to continue going about his business of conversing with anyone he could to make it through the night. He turns around to leave before Y/n pipes up once again.
“That was a nasty curse she threw at you,” He turns around at her words. He looks at her face, which bears no emotion, “You're not fine.”
“Just a scratch is all,” He waves it off.
“Come with me,” She demands, walking past him and towards an empty hallway. Sirius debates following her or not. After a moment, he makes his way through a crowd of people, many of whom scoff or jump out of his way as he passes through. He wanders down the hallway and up the stairs. He isn’t quite sure where she has gone, but he has to eventually find her. He notices an open door with the lights on, slicking out like a sore thumb in the dim hallway. He leans the doorway, watching Y/n standing on her toes, looking for something in the tall cupboard.
“Need a hand?” He offers, which makes Y/n turn her head to the side, before looking right back at the cupboard. She pulls down a glass bottle.
“Sit down,” She uses her foot to pull out a stand before pouring a small cup from the bottle. She shoves it into his hands. “Drink up,” She says as he sits down.
“What exactly is it?” He quirked an eyebrow.
“Healing Drought,” she nodded. “It’ll help,” Y/n simply explained. Sirius looks down at the drink before chugging it down. He winces at the taste, but gets it all down. “You know you could just pretend.”
“Excuse me?” Sirius asks, looking up at her. She's leaning back against the counter.
“You could pretend,” She shrugs, seeming less stern than before. As if she dropped her mask.
“Pretend to do what?” She quirks an eyebrow, noticing the pain on his stomach slowly starts to dissipate.
“Pretend you're like them. Stay quiet when they say things you don’t like. It’s not hard.” She furrowed her eyebrows, as if it's obvious. “Keeps you out of trouble and then when the hags are dead, you get all their money,” She shrugs. Her accent is thick and noticeable. Sirius has always liked French accents.
“It's not exactly that simple,” he raises an eyebrow. Curious why she's saying all of this.
“How so?”
“My mother and father will see right through any act I put on,” He says carefully, not knowing how much he should give away.
“Your mother found me charming,” She smirks, pushing herself up onto the counter, swinging her legs back and forth. Sirius furrows his brows in confusion. Y/n sighs.
“Mum and I pretend to get on good with the other purebloods to get information. All of these families are into some shady shit,” She shrugs. She really opened up to him. That could have easily been a horrible mistake on her part. If anyone else had heard that, and had told, Y/n and her mother could be in serious danger. He knew what his family was capable of, and getting rid of the L/n’s would be a simple task for the lot of them.
“You don’t even know who I am,” Sirius asks, concerned about his features.
“I know enough about you. Everyone knows who you are.” She shrugs. He forgot for a moment that she is also a student at Hogwarts.
“I’ve never noticed you before.”
“I keep to myself mostly, converse with people in my own house, keep out of trouble. Basically the opposite of everything you do,” She smirks.
“Hm, what would you do if I talked to you at school then,” he smirks in return.
“I think it could be good for your image to have a friend that your mother approves of,”
“You did say my mother found you charming,” She sits up from the counter and comes over to him. She moves her hand towards his stomach, but stops, glancing up as if she was asking if it was okay. He moves his arms away from his stomach, silently letting her inspect. She finds the torn fabric that he never had even noticed, and grabs her wand, muttering a spell under her breath and his blouse sews itself up on its own.
“Thank you, by the way,” he looks down at her, finally getting a good look at her face. She is quite beautiful. The way her hair frames on her face, and the slight imperfections on her skin. Maybe she really did have a point. If he held out a little longer then he could get everything. It would also be a lot easier if he had someone like her in his corner. Someone who was charming and well mannered in front of his mother, yet kind and open around him. He wants to get to know everything about her. Something about her is quite intriguing.
“It's nothing,” She stands up, once the spell is complete, and goes back to her spot on the counter adjacent to him. “Really,” She offered him a kind smile. They sit in a comfortable silence for a minute before she gets up and offers him a hand off of the stool. He takes it and they return back to the foyer. He walks behind her, and he can almost see her mask go up and she readjusts herself to look more proper the moment they return from the staircase. She goes over to a counter and grabs two glasses of red wine, handing one to Sirius.
“As long as your mother won't mind,” she sips from her glass, her posh accent returning once again.
“My mother doesn’t quite care,” he takes a sip from his as well. The two of them stand in the corner, just getting to know each other. While no one was looking, she still kept up her upright posture and polite mannerisms, but her voice was dripping with humour. They discussed their favourite books, music (Sirius was pleasantly surprised to hear she has a collection of muggle records), events that have happened at Hogwarts. Sirius comes to learn she sat behind him in potions back in fourth year. She talked about her paintings, her cats, and France. Sirius got to learn quite a lot about her in the span of two hours at the party. While the music playing was quite dry, and the conversations they overheard were the same, they kept themselves entertained, while keeping up manners, mostly to leave a good impression on Walburga.
“Sirius, we must get going!” Walburga approaches. Only then do the two of them notice the Witches and Wizards slowly dissipating.
“Yes mother,” Sirius looks towards his mother, then back towards Y/n. She offers him her hand and he takes it, bowing down and planting a kiss to her knuckles. “It’s been a pleasure Ms. L/n,” He offered her a smirk and a wink, both of which were out of sight of his mothers watchful eyes.
“The pleasure is all mine Mr. Black,” She curtseys politely. She walks them to their front and bids them goodbye, as well as the rest of the guests. Once everyone had officially gone, both Y/n and her mother had dropped their masks. Lydia falls back dramatically onto the sofa, while y/n sprawls out on the loveseat.
“Posh purebloods are such a bore!” Her mother complains.
“At least they’re neat,” Y/n shrugs, unable to hide the ear to ear smile that she had to suppress during the party.
“I don’t feel like cleaning up right now, Help me in the morning will you,” Her mother yawned.
“Yeah, I'll help,” She sighs.
“What are you smiling about?” Her mother sits up and furrows her eyebrows.
“I made a friend,” Y/n smirks.
“That why I barely saw you all night?” She raises an eyebrow. “Who exactly?”
“Sirius, Walburga's son,”
“The one who got cursed?” Y/n nods.
“Thought you said you wouldn’t want to make friends?”
“He’s different,” She says simply, shrugging.
“How is he different?”
“He’s like us,” Y/n references her and her mothers views on, well, most of the things those pureblood families agree on. Clearly her mother gets it because she nods, as if she's in thought, before standing up.
“I’m going to bed now,” she says and Y/n stands up, giving her mom a big hug. “I’m glad you made friends today darling. It’ll make these bloody parties a little less miserable for you.” She smiles and heads up to bed. “I love you darling!” She yells from the staircase. Y/n peaks her head around the corner.
“Love you too mummy!” She says dramatically before sitting back down on the loveseat, picking up her book and reading by the fireplace until she hears the clock chime twelve. She stands up, yawning, ready to go to bed, when an owl suddenly appears at the window.
She goes over to the window, opens it and the owl leaves a black envelope before immediately flying away. The h/c haired girl shuts the window and looks at the letter. She can make out the shiny black lettering addressed to her on its matching matte black paper.
“Who puts black on black?” She mutters to herself tiredly. She takes the letter upstairs and enters her room. The room is adorned with hanging plants and expensive wood furniture, along with an easel and painting supplies on a shelf on the opposite side of her canopy bed. She changes into her pajamas, which is pretty much just a Queen band shirt. She flops down onto her bed, ripping open the letter. She pulls out a (thankfully light) piece of parchment.
Dearest Y/n,
It was quite the pleasure to be graced with your company this evening. You seemed to have left a good impression on mother, she's been raving about how she wishes she had a daughter all night. Thinks I would have turned out differently if I were born the opposite sex. I definitely wouldn't have been, mind you. Anyways, I really enjoyed myself, and I hope to see you again before the beginning of September. I do not think my mother will take issue with me visiting or you visiting my house, as long as you want to, that is. I would also like to mention that when we return to Hogwarts, I would love it if you would accompany me to Hogsmeade one evening. I know I have a reputation as a Casanova, of sorts, but that does not mean I treat any woman with even a small bit less respect than they deserve.
Anyways, I am looking forward to seeing you again.
Love,
Sirius Black
She holds the letter in her hands, her cheeks glowing pink as she falls backwards into her bed, placing the letter back into its envelope and neatly onto her bedside table. While the letter was short and sweet, it still was able to make her blush. She imagined seeing him again and she got all giddy, kicking her feet a little. She’s never really had a boy been interested in her. She’s been on dates, but none of them seemed to take any real interest outside of the hard exterior she puts up.
She’s also had experience with other elements to romance, like kissing, and other such activities. She might not get out much, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t get out at all. It was quite awkward her first time, she wasn’t quite sure what to do. Her partner at the time did not make it much easier for that matter.
Eventually, she stops swooning over a man she had just met that evening and shut off her light and went to sleep. In the morning she wrote back, and the two of them decided to meet the next weekend, constantly lettering each other throughout the day. The two met up several times throughout the rest of the summer, usually him going to hers, and watching him fawn over her record collection. They had spent an entire day once just listening to all of the records that Sirius didn’t have. He only gets his from his cousin Andromeda, who he doesn’t really see that often. The few times she went off to his place, she had to put up her mask, which Sirius found a bit upsetting, but at least this way his mother would continue to approve of their friendship.
The two had planned to meet each other at the station on their way to Hogwarts come September, the station was quite crowded, and Sirius had quickly been drawn in by seeing his friends once again.
“Oh Prongs, she’s absolutely unbelievable!” Sirius fawns, sitting next to James in the train compartment.
“Oh yeah, I imagine she is,” James jokes, seemingly not believing Sirius met a girl who they’ve never heard of before who is secretly trying to infiltrate the sacred twenty eight, and happens to be Sirius’ perfect girl.
“I’m serious! Moony please believe me!” He turns to his other friend.
“I dunno Padfoot, seems a little too good to be true,” At this point, Sirius believes his friends are just trying to get under his skin.
“I believe you Sirius!” Peter responds enthusiastically. While Peter usually agrees with anything he or James said, Sirius still takes it as a win.
“Thank you Peter!” Sirius beams.
Sirius kept his eye out for her familiar face when the train stopped and students started to head towards the carriages. Even at the feast in the great hall, Sirius wasn’t able to find her. There are quite a lot of students here at Hogwarts so Sirius isn’t too surprised, but it's still annoying that they haven’t seen each other. Only when he and his friends are heading back towards the Gryffindor common room does he recognize her voice booming throughout the almost empty halls.
“Sirius!” She spots him up ahead. She had noticed him leaving the great hall and quickly finished her pudding before rushing to catch up to him, wanting to see him before he retreated to the Gryffindor common room for the night. He whips around. So do his friends and a few other people in the nearly empty halls, but the big smile on his face is all she cares about at the moment.
“Hey!” he greets excitedly as she runs up to him, a little out of breath.
“Missed you at the station,” She teases.
“You saw how busy it was,” he laughs. “Still upset I didn’t get to see you earlier though,”
“What classes do you have?” She asks and and they pull out the schedule, beginning to converse about some of the classes they have together. The sound of someone clearing their throat draws the both of them towards the rest of the Marauders.
“Oh! Yes.” Sirius puts his schedule away, and Y/n follows suit. “This is Y/n,” He gestures towards the girl whose face is adorned with a large friendly smile.
“Pleasure to officially meet the lot of you,” She greets. On the surface, she had admitted to herself that she acts more like she should be in Hufflepuff, or even Gryffindor, with her seemingly bubbly personality and kind face. She wasn’t surprised when she was sorted into Slytherin all those years ago, and is constantly reminded of why when she spends a lot of her life hidden away behind a mask. A mask she quite likes. Makes her a better liar and a thief. She has a knack for mischief, but unlike some Gryffindors, she leaves the scene of the crime without anyone even knowing there was any mischief being committed.
She truly lives up to the conventional Slytherin cunningness.
“To be perfectly honest, we thought Sirius was making you up,” Remus says, being brutally honest, which earns a subtle shove from James.
“Well I’m glad I could help Sirius prove you wrong… Anyways,” She turns back to Sirius, adjusting her prefect’s badge. “I must get going, I don't want to leave Charles waiting.” She bids goodbye. She’s about to take off once more before Sirius catches her wrist.
“Not even going to let me say goodbye?” he smirks.
“I really do have to get going,” she smiles warmly.
“I know, I know, you’re a prefect after all.” She moved right up in front of him, before standing on her toes and leaving a kiss on his cheek. She slips her wrist from his grasp before running off in the direction she came from.
“Bye Sirius!” She turns around for a moment, before heading towards the dungeons, knowing full well she left Sirius a blushing mess.
Over the next week, the two are so busy with school and Y/n’s prefect duties to speak to each other outside of the class they shared. After potions class one day, he tried to talk to her, but she was quickly swept away by a group of first years who needed help finding one of their classes. Finally, that Friday night, he ‘borrowed’ James’ cloak and snuck out, trying to find her on patrol. He eventually spotted her patrolling around the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. He decided to give her a scare, and revealed himself suddenly from under the cloak.
She let out a loud yelp, and covered her mouth. “What are you doing here!?” She scolds.
“I wanted to see you,” She says, smugly. The sound of quick approaching footsteps forces Sirius to hide under the cloak as the other Slytherin prefect runs around the corner.
“What's the matter?!” He asks worriedly, his eyes darting around the corridor. Y/n whips around to where Sirius had been, relieved to find him ‘gone’, turns back around.
“Nothing, was just Mrs. Norris sneaking up on me,” She waves it off.
“I don’t see Mrs. Norris,” he looks around. Y/n panics for a moment trying to think up an excuse.
“Must have spooked her when I yelled,” she shrugs. Charles just waves her off, annoyed, and heads back into his area. Once the coast is clear, Sirius laughs become audible as he removes the cloak once again. She punches his arm.
“You're lucky I like you or else I would give you detention with Filch!” She scolds quietly. He suppresses a laugh at her anger, finding it quite amusing.
“It's a good thing you like me then,” She says with a cocky smirk, taking a step towards Y/n.
“If I get caught with you I could get in serious trouble,” She crosses her arms. “And that will ruin my reputation of being Mummy's perfect little girl,” She rolls her eyes at her own comment.
“Oh why of course your excellency,” He bows down in front of her, planting a kiss gently on her knuckles. “Your reputation truly does proceed you,” he jokes in a posh accent.
“So what exactly is it that you want?” She crosses her arms sternly.
“Are you busy tomorrow?” He asks, and she quirks an eyebrow.
“No,” She says simply.
“Then would you be so kind as to accompany me to Hogsmeade tomorrow evening?” He asks and her stern expression fades into a playful smile.
“Are you finally making an attempt to court me?” She smirks. A red blush crosses his face at her directness. A thought nagging at him.
“Have you been expecting me to court you?”
“Yes,”
“Then I’m attempting to court you,”
“And I would be more than happy to accompany you.”
Like a gentleman, he picks her up from outside the Slytherin common room, drawing in the attention of many Slytherins around there. The sound of Sirius and Y/n’s laughter as they leave the dungeon drowns out the sound of scowls and whispering amongst many of the Slytherins. By the time they reach the small village, it's already five. They wander up and down the streets, dragging each other around when they see something interesting on the display case of a shop.
“Oh my!” She moans, taken aback by the taste of a cupcake from a bakery. “This is wonderful!” She takes another small bite.
“I’m starting to think you might like that cupcake more than me,” Sirius jokes. Y/n takes a step closer to him, a seductive hint in her eye.
“You're cute,” She says, staring at his face, taking it all in, before dipping her finger in the icing of her cupcake and quickly dapping it onto his nose. She laughs as he takes a startled step back. He used his finger to wipe it off his nose, before sucking the icing from the side of his finger.
“Well that’s not very nice, now is it?” He teases, a mischievous glint in his eyes. They have already had dinner and the sun has set, so the village is beautifully lit by lanterns in the streets.
“Well I shared some of my icing with you, I would call that nice,” She says, before taking the last bite of cupcake.
“I suppose you're right.” He plays along. She turns around, wanting to admire the castle and how the lights from the windows light it up during the night time. Sirius slowly comes up beside her, placing his hand on her back. She looks over, and then decides to lean her head on his shoulder. They stare up at the castle for a while longer, before Y/n turns towards him, grabbing his face in her hands. She stares at his face, her gaze flicking down to his lips. Sirius brings his hand up to brush a stray hair back into place before she pulls his face towards hers.
His arms wrap around her waist, while her hands remain on the side of his head. When they break apart, she leans her head on his shoulder, with her hands moving down to his shoulders as well.
“I really had a lot of fun tonight,” She says softly.
“So did I,”

The wind whipped through your hair as you flew through the air on your broom. You swirled and zipped around the Quidditch Pitch, enjoying the cool breeze as it washed across your skin. Flying was so peaceful, it always put you at ease. It helps your mind forget your worries of the day or week, and about life in general really. You were the daughter of Sirius Black, and with that title and family namesake, made you a target. So, when you were but a child, you were taught to go by your mother's maiden name, and when you joined Hogwarts, you did the same. No one knew of your real name, except a few of the professors and of course, Dumbledore. You told no one because if you did and the wrong person heard, you could be hunted, tortured, or worse, killed. As your father was a Black, who was in Gryffindor, who also was framed for the murder of twelve muggles, Peter Pettigrew, and Lily and James Potter; your father, to most people, was not a swell guy. If anyone knew, you’d probably have both Death Eaters and your Hogwarts peers after you.
Unlike your father being sorted into Gryffindor, you were sorted into Slytherin. You wore the green and silver proudly, but you had a small problem; you weren't really like your Slytherin peers. Yes, you were sarcastic and a bit mischievous at times, but you were not rude or stuck-up as many of your Slytherin peers were. Many of your fellow Slytherins like poking and prodding at you, especially for being friends with people from other houses. For some reason, if you were a Slytherin, there was this dumb rule that you could only be friends with other "pure-blood" Slytherins. But you didn't care. Not at all really. You didn't care if they wore yellow or blue, you liked your friends. And that was all that really mattered to you.
But, in the air, you didn't have to worry about any of that. You could just be free. Not a care in the world. In the sky was where you were safe, free, and alone.
"Oi!" You suddenly heard, opening your eyes to look down, pausing in mid-air, "Yeah! You up there! This is our pitch!"
You rolled your eyes, spotting two people down below, from just their red hair, you knew they were the Weasleys. So you zoomed back around, this time lower to the ground, before zipping to a stop before them. Staring down at the two, you realized that they were the twins, Fred and George. You had heard about them, mostly about their little pranks; sometimes you thought they were funny, depending on who they were pranking. Funnily enough, you were actually pretty fond of the youngest twin, George. You thought he was pretty cute, and that meant a lot since he was a twin, but you weren't going to tell him that. You were in Slytherin, he wouldn't like you. Even though you were friends with people from other houses, no one from Gryffindor trusted you one bit.
Glancing at the two, you crossed your arms, watching as they just stared back. You weren't more than six feet in the air, so you were almost at eye level with them. "I don't see your names on it." You answered, raising an eyebrow, noticing they had their brooms, and a small trunk behind them. "And Gryffindor isn't practicing today."
The oldest twin then spoke, "We know,"
"We want to practice." The youngest, George, then finished. “Please.” He then added.
Uncrossing your arms, you leaned back against your broom with one hand, leaning back slightly as you continued to look at them. "So, you two think you can kick me out because you two want some extra practice in?" You questioned, glancing back and forth between the two. You hardly had any free time to fly, so you weren't going to let them have the patch so easily.
The two twins looked at each other briefly before turning back to you, "Yeah." The eldest answered.
You chuckled lightly, shaking your head, "Nope, not gonna happen. Sorry."
"I don't see your name on it." George then spoke and you looked at him, feeling a few butterflies flutter in your stomach as you let your eyes wander across his features; his remarkable brown eyes, gorgeous red hair, and just his stunning face in general before you smirked lightly, glancing over at the Gryffindor stands. You really adored his freckles.
"I do." You answered simply, before dropping your smirk, "Now, how about you practice after I'm done, since I never get time to do any flying around here? Hmm? Sharing is caring." You spoke, before raising an eyebrow, your smirk returning. "You boys did learn how to share as kids, right?" But before you could fly off, George spoke up after.
"Why don't you join the Slytherin team?" You paused, frowning slightly.
You tilted your head down, your hair covering your face, "They won't let me join."
Both Fred and George tilted their heads, like confused puppies, "Won't let you join?" Fred then asked.
"Why?" George asked, as you just smiled sadly.
"Because I'm not like them." Your smile then turned into a disappointed frown once more, as you softly landed your broom on the ground. "But it's not like your guys would trust my word anyway. I am a Slytherin after all." You said bitterly, kicking the dirt with your foot, before giving the twins one last smile, "You can have the pitch. Have fun."
"Wait!" You paused, turning back around, and looking back at the twins, "What's your name?" Fred asked, and you answered.
"Y/N L/N." And then, you left the pitch.
~~~
Fred and George watched as you left the field, holding your broom tight in your hand as you turned around the corner. Fred watched intensely, making sure you were gone and out of hearing range before turning to his twin, and slapping George on the arm. George just watched where you had left with an almost dream-like smile.
“She’s so perfect…” He muttered before Fred continued to try and gain his attention by slapping and nudging his arm.
"George, mate! Her name is Y/N!" Fred exclaimed as George felt his face flush, pushing his brother back in retaliation, glancing to where you had gone and back. "Now you don't have to call her 'the girl I fancy' anymore. No more, ‘Fred, the girl I fancy has the prettiest eyes.’ And no more, ‘Fred, the girl I fancy has the sweetest laugh.’” Fred teased, clasping his hands together and fluttering his eyelashes as he let out a faux dreamy sigh.
"Fred-"
"And you spoke to her! I'm so proud of you." Fred continued, nudging George again.
George huffed, getting slightly annoyed, "Fred, it's not a big deal."
Fred sputtered a laugh, looking at George as if he was crazy, "Not a big deal? We just ran into your crush!"
"Shh!" George covered Fred's mouth, "Let the whole bloody school hear you."
Fred rolled his eyes, pushing George's hand away, "I'm just sayin’. She seems pretty nice." He paused before nodding, "For a Slytherin." He shrugged his shoulders. “But I think she might like you, Georgie.” Fred wiggled his eyebrows, smirking, “Did you see the way she was eyeing you? Probably thinking about her future with you… marriage, kids, how cute your kids would be-”
“Eyeing me? Kids? No, no… No, she doesn’t like me like that.” George narrowed his eyes, feeling his cheeks burn, unbelieving of his brother; he shook his head, only for Fred to shake his back in return.
“No, really. George, I know when girls fancy you, and she fancies you.” He continued to tease, only for George to frown.
"Let's just practice." George sighed, trying to hide his red cheeks before he and Fred flew up in the air on their brooms.
George did have a crush on you. A massive one. Ever since the third year. George remembered when he first saw you. You were walking down the hall, some old books in hand, and once his eyes landed on you... It was like the world had stopped, except for you. In slow-motion, George watched as you walked down the hall and past him, hair bouncing with each step, your Slytherin scarf flying in the non-existent wind behind you. The sun shining through the windows, casting you in an angelic light. It was like one of those Muggle films his dad spoke so much about. ‘Gorgeous. Stunning.’ Was all George could think. From that moment, he wanted to know everything about you. From your favorite color to your favorite time of the year.
George was in love. But, George regretfully told his brother about you, about how stunning you were and how smart you were when you occasionally shared classes. He was able to keep Fred off the topic for a while, focusing on pranks and whatnot, but soon Fred almost became obsessed with finding out your name for George. Since, in Fred's own words, he was 'too bloody shy to ask you himself.' It was a bit true, he was a bit shy, you were so pretty, intimidating, and just so… Perfect. He didn’t want to mess anything up. But it seemed fate took pity on him later on in the week when he'd soon bump into you again.
~~~
You were on your way to class, almost forgetting your books and having to turn back around and get them, so you were only a bit late. You knew it wasn’t much of a problem, having Potions next; Snape wouldn’t be too harsh on you, he somehow had a soft spot for you since you were practically a genius at Potion making.
Turning the corner, you immediately smashed your face against something hard, falling backwards. You shut your eyes, waiting to hit the cobbled floor below, before you stopped, mid-air. Slowly opening your eyes, you found your eyes staring right into a pair of chocolate brown eyes.
George held you in his arms, stopping you from falling, which surprised both of you, “Are you okay?” He questioned, his eyebrows high in concern.
“Yeah…” You murmured quietly, in awe, “Thank you.” ‘Look at all those freckles,’ You thought to yourself as George held you, ‘I wish I could kiss them all.’ With that last thought, you felt your face burning up. George’s hand held your lower back, the warmth of his hand seeped into you, warming you; if only he could hold you forever.
You both stayed in that position for a couple of seconds, before you felt George slowly pull you back up on your feet, grabbing your books from the floor and handing them to you hastily. George ran a hand through his hair, clearing his throat, and glancing at the ground awkwardly as you stood there, doing the same.
"Uh, I'm sorry for bumping into you." You apologized quickly.
He shook his head, looking up before taking his hand out of his hair to wave it, dismissing your words, "No, no, it was my fault. I wasn't looking at where I was going."
You smiled, "Well, thank you for catching me, George."
At the sound of his name from your lips, his eyes widened a bit in disbelief, "You know my name? And you can tell Fred and I apart?" He asked, making you giggle lightly.
"Oh yes, I know who you are. Hard to not when both your names are spoken almost daily from the pranks you two pull. And, yes, I can tell you two apart. Quite easily actually."
George felt like his heart was going to explode, "Wow," He muttered, "That's brilliant." His gaze dropped to the floor for a second as he tried to stop smiling. “Even my own mother can’t tell us apart.”
After a few seconds of slightly awkward silence, you spoke up, "Well," You began, rocking on your heels, "I have to get to class. I'm already a bit late." You bit your lip, glancing up at George.
"Oh," George spoke up, feeling a bit jittery, "I could walk you... If you like?"
Your cheeks flushed lightly, and you nodded, a smile forming on your face. Before you began walking to the Potions classroom was located. And that was the beginning of your relationship with George Weasley.
~~~
In class, a month later, you were in Potions, learning about Amortentia with your Slytherin peers alongside Gryffindor. Professor Snape was going on about the potion, slowly and pretty monotone before asking everyone to begin making their own batch. It was a bit hard to do, and it took a very long time, but in the end, you could smell something… Something that made your stomach flip.
You immediately paused, your senses becoming overwhelmed with the scent. You hadn’t even realized Professor Snape was talking until he said your name.
“Miss L/N,” He began, gaining your attention, “It seems that you have correctly made the potion. Congratulations.” He spoke slowly, bringing everyone else’s attention on you in the process. “Would you mind listing off what you smell?” He asked, as if it was a question.
You gulped, knowing exactly what you were smelling, what your entire being and soul was obsessed with, the mere idea and thought of the person made your heart race. You knew everyone was looking at you, staring, judging. You’d usually feel pretty nervous, worried about what people would think of you and yet, all you could smell was him. All you could think about was him. And what felt like hours, was only seconds as you finally answered.
“I smell… Ceder, Earl gray tea, fireworks…” You paused, feeling your mind fog as you leaned a bit closer to the faint orange swirling wisps of aroma, unknowing that a certain ginger was sitting across the room, holding on to every word you said; his eyes wide as his mouth was slightly agape. His twin, beside him, nudges him once more, a smirk on his lips. “And… Warm wool sweaters.”
It was quiet, as you snapped out of your daze, blinking rapidly as you ducked your head, feeling your face flush as Snape just nodded before asking a student on the Gryffindor side. You held your breath, shutting your eyes tight, feeling your mouth become incredibly dry. You tried to pay attention to the rest of the class, but all you could think about was how embarrassed you felt, and what possibly George thought of you. You, a Slytherin infatuated by a Gryffindor. You felt sick. Before you could try and excuse yourself from the class, feigning a headache, but Professor Snape spoke up.
“Mr. Weasley,” You felt yourself freeze up, fifty-fifty chance here. “What do you smell?” He then asked, and you sat there, quietly, listening; your ears felt like they were going to explode from how much you were trying to listen; pay attention. It felt like a million years had passed before one of the twins spoke up.
“Well,” You heard, breaking the cold silence, “I smell apples, cinnamon, warm blankets, and… lilac bushes.” You felt relieved, that was Fred, not George. But, you also felt saddened; you really wanted to know what George smelled.
“Thank you, Mr. Weasely. Well, that’s all for today, clean up.” Snape commanded, before going to his desk to grade.
You quickly cleaned up your space, not looking up unless you had to. Speeding through cleaning, you finished swiftly, grabbed your messenger bag, and left the classroom. You speedwalked down the hall, maneuvering past a few fellow peers before making your way to the Black Lake. You finally let out a breath, your chest rising up and down as your heart raced inside your chest. You ran a hand through your hair, feeling like you were going to have a panic attack, but luckily you didn’t. Shutting your eyes, you took in a deep breath, letting the cold air encase and fill your lungs.
“You’re pretty fast.” You heard, and you opened your eyes, your body tensing up. George.
“Just needed some air.” You said simply, not turning around, as you crossed your arms, trying to warm yourself.
George watched you, digging the back of his heel in the grass as he awkwardly stuffed his hands in his cloak pockets. “Uh, yeah, it was pretty stuffy in there.” You didn’t reply, and George hastily cleared his throat before walking forward, standing beside you, but giving you enough space so that you were comfortable. He gave you a side-glance, noticing your sheepish expression. “Uh, why’d you leave the class so quickly?” He then asked, “And don’t tell me you needed air.”
You pursed your lips, looking at your shoes, “You don’t have to beat around the bush, you know.” You kicked the grass below you, sending specks of dirt into the air. “I can handle it.”
George furrowed his eyebrows, frowning. “Well, I know you smelled me in that Amortentia if that’s what you’re wanting me to say.” He spoke up, before looking out at the lake himself. A small smile drew itself on his lips as he continued. “I’ll… I’ll admit that I am pretty happy about it.”
You turned to look up at him, furrowing your own eyebrows as you stared at him, confused, bewildered. “What… What are you saying, George?”
George gave you a breathtaking smile, tilting his head to the side like a cute puppy before answering, “Do you want to know what I smelled?” He then asked, not even answering your question, confusing you even more, and really, filling you with dread. Anticipation. It’s terrible. Engulfing you and your senses until you felt like your mind was going crazy, crazy for George’s answer. Did he smell you? Or some other person? He took your hand, hesitant in his movements, but he took your cold hand in his. “I smelled peppermint, old books, a fresh breeze, and cherry pie.”
You felt your cheeks heat up, “What?” You felt like you were repeating yourself at this point. “Huh?”
“Well,” George began, “They all remind me of you.” He finished, your mind racing from the words you had just heard to the way he softly stroked your knuckles with the soft pad of his thumb.
“So… What you’re putting down here… Is that you like me, and I like you?” You asked, looking up at him with wide eyes.
“Mhmm.” George nodded, “I, uh, I really like you, Y/N.”
“Good.” You spoke up, feeling a bit giddy as you took a step closer, a smile gracing your face, “I really like you too, George.”
George took your other hands, warming both of them in his, he looked down at his hands, feeling his stomach swarm with butterflies, his heart beating rapidly in his chest. “Are you sure you didn’t smell Fred?” He asked, feeling a bit more confident to joke around, watching as you rolled your eyes and nodded.
“Yes, I am sure.” You spoke out with a laugh, “You’re the only Weasley that I know of that likes earl gray tea.”
~~~
It had been two years since that day, and you couldn't be happier. That Amortentia was what finally got George to get the guts to ask you out. And George, he was an angel. He had asked you the moment class ended, yes it was a bit nerve-racking, on both ends. But, it was perfect. He asked you out to Hogsmeade, where the two of you ate lunch and bought candy, before just walking with each other and talking about everything and anything. By the end of the day, when he was walking you back to the Slytherin Common Room, you were both hand in hand.
Everything he does makes you fall deeper and deeper in love with him. You just loved everything about him. From the softness of his voice to the kindness in his eyes, and just the way he looked at you in general. It was all so pure and beautiful. Spending hours together, cuddling in front of the Gryffindor Common Room fire. Walking hand in hand through the halls, not caring about the looks you both got. Going to Hogsmeade together and George asking you to the Yule Ball. Pranking Fred together and just having a good time, not a care in the world. The past two years had been the best years of your entire life, you wouldn’t trade it for anything, but you were feeling guilty.
You hadn't told George about your true last name. You were beyond worried. You didn't know what would happen if you did tell him. You didn't want to lose him. He was your best friend. Your boyfriend. You could only imagine how broken he would be if you told him that you were the child of a "murderer." Even though he wasn't, you knew everyone at Hogwarts thought he was. But, that was beside the point.
The point was that you were scared out of your mind. You were scared that George was going to realize how messed up your family was and break up with you. You didn't want that to happen. You never wanted to lose him. Half your mind was thinking the worst of everything, while the other side was being hopeful. You had hoped that George would understand and love you unconditionally. He was the light in your darkest hours. You knew you had to tell him eventually. He was the person that mattered most to you. And you knew it was time. So, you asked him to meet you at the Quidditch Pitch.
It was cold, the wind blowing a bit too harshly as you waited in the pitch, near one of the Gryffindor stands. As you stared into the distance, waiting for George to come, you heard footsteps approaching beside you. Turning your head, your smile widened as you spotted a familiar figure walking over at the edge of the pitch. You swallowed nervously when he made his way to you, you turning, sprinting, and jumping into his arms. He laughed happily, swinging you around in a few circles before putting you down on the green grass below. George kissed your forehead and then wrapped his arms around your waist, making sure his long black cloak was wrapped around you, keeping you warm. He pulled back slightly, gazing into your eyes as he smiled widely.
"Hi, Georgie." You blushed deeply, biting your lower lip as you looked back at him.
"Hello, love," George muttered, bringing his hands up to cup your cheeks, leaning down to nuzzle his nose with yours.
You closed your eyes, smiling widely, your hand coming up to rest on the side of his neck, your freezing skin not bothering him. You opened your eyes to look into George's and, despite the cold weather, you were starting to feel warm again. Leaning up on the tip of your toes, you gently brushed your lips against his. You heard him hum happily, as he pressed forward, kissing you softly. When you broke apart, you rested your forehead against his, closing your eyes as a small chuckle left your lips. After another moment, he pulled back, smiling down at you.
"So," He breathed out, "Why did you want me to meet you here, instead of a nice, warm Common Room?"
Your smile faltered slightly as you intertwined George's fingers with yours. "I want to... Show you something." You spoke up nervously, before leading George to one of the Gryffindor stands of the Quidditch Pitch.
George watched, his smile slowly fading and the more confused he got as he followed behind. He watched as you pushed the red and yellow fabric of the stand out of the way, walking under and in it. It was pretty dark and at this point, George was a bit worried, he could hardly see anything. Before he could say anything though, a bright light appeared from the tip of your wand, shining and lighting up the old rickety wood of the stand. He looked at you as you pursed your lips, staring at the old beams.
"I need to show you something." You finally spoke, repeating your words from before, pointing the light to a beam right in front of you.
George took a closer look, seeing four names carved into it. 'James Potter, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, and Sirius Black.' all in different handwriting, but next to their names were the words, 'The Marauders.'
"That's on the map Fred and I have." He spoke up, pointing to the ‘The Marauders’ carving, before looking over at you; watching as you traced over the last name, before pointing at it.
"This is my dad." You muttered, tears welling up in your eyes as anxiety wormed its way into you.
George furrowed his eyebrows, taking a step toward you, "What… What do you mean?" He questioned, "Sirius Black is your dad?"
You nodded, letting out a shaky breath, "Yes. He is." You turned to look at George, "My real name is Y/N Black." George stayed silent, worrying you, so you continued, "Because of the accusations my father's dealing with, it is dangerous for me to go about with my true last name, so I go by my mother's. But... We've been together so long, and I love you so much... I couldn't keep this from you anymore." You felt the tears roll down your cheeks, "I'm sorry."
George looked at you, completely shocked at your confession. You’ve kept this secret for so long, bottling it up inside you. George could see how worried you were, as the tears fell down your cheeks and you stared up at him with such desperation. Without even thinking, he brought you into his arms. Hugging you tightly to his chest, burying his nose into the crown of your hair, he tightened his grip on you, hoping that you could feel his love pouring out to you; holding you close as if you were going to disappear any minute.
You had confessed something so personal, something that could end you up in danger. George could see how relieved you were, sobbing in his arms, he knew how hard this must have been for you. He never could hate you, or change his mind about you. Never. You were his life, his little ball of sunshine on his gloomy days. You were his everything. After several moments, you both pulled away, looking at each other again.
"Y/N..." George trailed off, looking you over once more. "My love, I don't care who your father is. I don’t care if you were a Malfoy or even a Filch for crying out loud. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." He quoted before continuing, “This doesn't change anything between us. I still love you. I always will." You let out a small sob, wrapping your arms back around his neck and burying your face into his chest once more.
"Thank you." You mumbled, pulling away slightly to wipe your tear-stained cheeks. "Thank you, thank you, thank you."
George smiled softly, tilting your chin up with his thumb before leaning down to press multiple kisses on your face; tear-stained cheeks, chin, forehead, nose, and lips. He held onto your face in his large hands, pressing his forehead against yours, “No, thank you. Thank you for loving me. I love you, Y/N Black." He whispered, nuzzling his nose with yours.
You smiled, placing your hands over his face, "I love you, George Weasley.” You then paused, furrowing your eyebrows as you thought back to George’s sweet words, “Wait, was that a Shakespeare quote?”
George chuckled lightly, feeling slightly embarrassed as he gazed down lovingly at you, "Yeah, my dad likes to read that stuff. But that’s besides the point. How about you and I go and prank Fred, and then after that, we can go flying, look at the stars?" You nodded eagerly, giggling slightly, wiping away the remaining tears on your face.
"Yeah. That would be perfect." You grinned brightly, "I'd love to go flying again with you." You reached up, grabbed the lapels of his robes, pulled him down to you, and planted a kiss on his cheek. You leaned against him as you walked, your head resting on his shoulder. Looking up at him as he glanced down at you, smiling softly, you saw your future right in front of you. Your heart fluttered, and your stomach flipped. George was perfect, he was the one. The one you were meant to be with.
Taking your hand, George led you back to the school where you and he would plan out a funny prank on Fred. You walked through the deserted halls with him; a sense of peace surrounded you. Being with George was always so peaceful, he always put you at ease. You glanced up at George one last time, your smile growing as you swung your intertwined hands together, yes, life was sweet.

I was hoping to request a Regulus Black x fem!reader
Where the reader is a pure blood and Slytherin and regulus is friends with her since he was a kid.
As they grow up the reader starts finding sirius attractive, but regulus watches this from afar. Hurting silently. And he confesses too late
Idk I kinda want a sad ending 💀
a/n: I usually put these at the end but here you go. I had sm fun working on this request and honestly, I don't think I did your idea justice. I took some creative liberty and kind of changed the idea. But the dynamic remains. I hope you like this <33 warnings: mention of smoking, outbursts, kissing, use of the word b@stard, I use certain words a lot so maybe it got boring. anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Unspoken Words That Linger In The Air
- Regulus Black
Tumblr media
Y/n L/n hated smokers, ever since she was young she'd seen her father smoke at every occasion possible. The smell of secondhand smoke became so familiar to her that it was almost nauseating.
When Sirius Black became her boyfriend, elevating from best friend's Brother to long-time crush to this, it became a rather obvious detail that he had to quit smoking.
He tried, he really did, and it worked for a while. But alas it was still his go-to coping mechanism. He couldn't let go so easily.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sirius returned from his quidditch match, in which Slytherin had won against Gryffindor, and Found his girlfriend waiting in his dorm.
the other boys were still downstairs celebrating and wouldn't be up here for a while.
"How was your match?" She spoke first.
"Great, Sorry we took a little detour before coming here, didn't wanna be here after the awful loss"
"I get it," she said with a smile.
A moment passes...then another.
Slowly...
She pulled him in by the neck, smiling only slightly before kissing him as his lips curved into a smile.
He tasted sweet..
he tasted like chocolate.
Remus's chocolate, that the werewolf always refused to share but would often somehow find missing.
He tasted like strawberry.
The strawberry-flavored taffy Lily always carried in her robes for James, oblivious to the fact that he hated strawberries, they'd often end up with Sirius anyway.
And he tasted like...
.... cigarettes.
The nauseating smell came back. It hit her senses like a bludger.
She pulled back.
"you smoked again." She stated, disappointment lacing her voice delicately.
"I thought you quit" she continued and it sounded unsure, as if she was doubting it.
"y/n I-"
"did you lie to me? Or did you just pick it up again?" It sounded broken almost but still hopeful.
She didn't let him answer and instead walked away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"He never listens" came the exasperated voice of Y/n as she sat on the deep green leather couch of the common room, the fire from the fireplace warming her just a tiny bit through the coldness of the space.
"I just don't understand how you are still dating him" said Regulus's cold voice, cutting through the brief silence.
"Alright regulus, he's not that awful"
"one moment you're complaining to me and the next you're defending him, great," he replied in a bored voice, seemingly done with the conversation.
"He's your brother Reg, You can't hate him forever" Her voice was calm, unlike Regulus's which seemed to be growing louder by the second.
"He's not me. And he was my brother, and I just don't understand how you can love him." His voice was stressed as if trying to prove a point.
"Merlin! What's your problem Regulus? I don't understand why you're always so against me and Sirius dating?" Her voice also started to raise, matching Regulus's tone.
"There. That. That's the problem y/n! Merlin! you're so stupid!."
"Excuse me-" Y/n tried to interrupt but was spoken over.
"No. he isn't even willing to quit smoking for you! What kind of a boyfriend is that? I quit because you asked me to." He tried to reason.
"Well, He's not you Regulus-" Again tried.
"Merlin! You don't understand. You don't understand what you do to me y/n. You don't understand how your smile makes me happy or how your tears make me sad. you don't understand how every time I see you smile because of that bastard, It hurts me. You don't understand how bad I want that bastard to be me-" His voice was broken, it sounded so hoarse and so broken.
"-You don't understand how Unconditionally and irrevocably in love with you I am."
His voice boomed through the common room, the two students playing exploding snap in the corner immediately stood up and went to their dorms.
"w-what?" she let out, as a whisper, no other sound could have escaped her.
But it did. in the form of a question.
"you love me?" It sounded stupid but she needed it said once more to believe it.
Regulus didn't say anything. He didn't need to.
An unspoken 'yes' lingered in the air.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was past cerfew but her feet still took her to the astronomy tower.
That's where she always went after an argument with Regulus.
It was the one place she always found solace in.
As she walked up the large stairs her feet made little to no sound. Even as they halted after seeing a familiar figure come into view.
Sirius was there, smoking again.
The soft glow from the cigarette illuminated his features in a warm light.
He looked calm.
"you're smoking again" Y/n broke the silence as she leaned against the wall of the tower similar to how Sirius had been.
"It...umm gets stressful without you around." That was an excuse of a response.
"I suppose it does even when I am around" Her reply was far from sarcastic, it was true. Highlighting the fact that she'd caught the smoke a day ago as well.
"what's the matter?" Sirius could tell something was wrong, he always did.
"I had an argument with Reg..." she replied, almost ashamed at her petty fight with her best friend.
"what about?"
"what do you think?" she retorted with a question, that was the only thing that seemed plausible.
A glint of hesitance washed over his features, a moment of guilt followed after.
"was it because of me?" it came out a little louder than a whisper, seemingly too careful.
She didn't answer, she didn't need to, she simply laid her head on his shoulder, the silence spoke for itself.
And an unspoken 'yes' lingered in the air.
Met at a Fête
Sirius Black x Fem!Reader
warnings: implied fem!reader, mentions of bullying.
To start this week off, I thought I might write for different characters. I’ve always been a Harry Potter fan but I never really got into the Marauders Era, Until now that is. Enjoy!
headers made by me!
word count: 1070+ (I lost count after that!)
Tumblr media
You and your family were lucky to have been invited to a party, Especially one that was hosted by the Noble House of Black.
They were the talk of the Wizarding World, Anybody who passed by Diagon Alley always seemed to be murmuring about the family.
The Blacks were just that favored and admired.
Nobody disliked them, and if you did, You would be criticized for that matter.
To be precise on the word lucky, It meant that even though your family was of wizards and witches who were pure-blood, A few of them were not. Specifically, Your grandmother. Yet your family was still invited.
Her family was muggle born, She then fell in love with a wizard and well.. You get the rest. Other pure-blood families did not like that one bit.
You’d always get bullied in Hogwarts, Which was a shame because Hogwarts grew to be your home. The only home where the bullying wasn’t that bad.
Out on the streets, You’d be shoved at and pulled by the hair. Some stuck up witches would put spells on you just to make sure you knew your place.
That all changed when Aurora, Your personal owl, Flew in with a black ribbon and a letter attached to it tied to her leg.
“Mother..!” You yelped as you got up from the rocking chair, almost falling over in the process, scrambling to grab the letter.
Footsteps thumped down the stairs as your Mother peeked her head down to see what the commotion was about. “Yes, my dear?”
You carefully turned the letter over, reading the print for a second before smiling wide. Your fingers absentmindedly opened the letter without using the letter opener.
“The Noble House of Black cordially invites you to their ball.” You whispered as you skimmed over the cursive.
You almost screamed right then and there.
All you remember that day was your mother’s frantic responses of “Let me see that letter!” And “My love, Come quick!”, You could tell this was a dream come true for her.
Now here you were, In a black gown your mother had been saving for whenever you’d go to a party or a ball like this. It fit like a charm, Even for how dusty and old it was.
“Padfoot!” A young man called as he hugged someone. You couldn’t see who the other man was, Until he stepped away.
His dark eyes is what caught your attention, They were like eclipse’s in his orbs. Padfoot, You’ve heard that before haven’t you?
A lightbulb went off in your head when it finally clicked, This was the infamous Sirius ‘Padfoot’ Black. The trickster and class clown at Hogwarts whom you’d always seen in the hallways walking with a strut.
In all honesty, He was quite a handsome man, but you also admired him for his kind nature. Even though He was a Gryffindor in a Slytherin family, He wasn’t like his family at all.
You hadn’t realized you had been staring at Sirius’ face for too long until his eyes locked onto yours.
You quickly ducked behind a couple who had been way too into themselves, Maybe he hadn’t really seen you absentmindedly staring at his face.
His handsome, gorgeous and beautiful face.
God, You really were crushing, hard.
Your parents were conversing with another family, So it’s not like you could go to them. That is until you spotted a curtain, wide and large enough to hide you from guests and specifically Sirius.
Quickly, You made your escape to the dark curtain, It’s velvety attire draping over you. A breath you didn’t know you were holding escaped your mouth.
Just as you were trying to relax, your eyes closed until you blinked, Sirius had appeared right in your face.
“Woah!” You jumped, Thumping your head against the wall as you recoiled and hissed in pain. Sirius’ lips curled into a smile as he chuckled.
“Sorry, Sorry. Couldn’t help but notice someone staring at me far too long for their own liking.” A blush crept over your cheeks, Your hand that had been soothing your head finally came down to hold other hand. Immediately fidgeting.
“I was just thinking, M’ Sorry. Didn’t realize I had been staring at you until it was too late.” You awkwardly chuckle, Shrugging off your nervousness as Sirius’ eyes scanned over your form.
His smile was giving you butterflies in your stomach, almost as if you could actually throw up butterflies. “Not to worry, I know I’m really handsome that you just can’t resist me.” A smug smile appeared on his lips as he joked, going into a silly pose just to make you laugh.
And laugh you did. A snort almost came out of your lips as your hand covered your mouth. “I think hiding behind the curtains is not proper of us.” You cleared your throat as you peeked out of the curtain, looking around to see if anyone noticed.
“Right you are,” He said as he peeks out of the curtains as well. “I’ll go first so it doesn’t look suspicious of us.” He gives you a wink as he walks off, joining a group of teens who seemed to around your age and instantly fitting right in.
He didn’t have to speak before fitting into the conversation. He was that effortless. You slowly slipped out beneath the velvet drapes and stood still by it.
“He has a character about him that everyone just loves, doesn’t he?” A taller guy spoke from beside you, Making you jump once again. Why do they always appear out of nowhere?
You realized he was talking about Sirius. “He does,” You look back at Sirius for a moment before speaking up again. “Makes me wonder how him and his family are related.” You cross your arms before looking at the young man next to you.
He nods before giving you his name, His hand outstretched. “I’m Remus, Remus Lupin.” You took his hand, giving him a firm shake before it finally clicked in your head again. “You’re moony, Right?”
He snaps his fingers as he grins. “You are correct, I guess we’re that well known hm?” He shuffles in his position, Nodding at Sirius. “Well, Time to shine, See you later church mouse.” He says as he walks away from you.
Church mouse? Confusion set on your face for a bit. “Quiet as a church mouse..” You chuckled to yourself as you sighed. Guess you had a new nickname.
Your eyes set back onto Sirius, His laughter almost echoing throughout the ballroom. You could get used to his presence, A smile tugged onto your lips as Sirius looked at you and waved at you to come on over.
You won’t mind being a church mouse, As long as you are next to him.
Thank you for reading!
‘tis the damn season
regulus black x muggleborn!reader
type: angst
word count: 1.8k
summary: leaving regulus on boxing day after an explosive (literally) christmas party
warnings: drinking, hate groups (death eaters)
masterlist
𝜗𝜚
“Come on, Y/N, you’ll have to face him at some point,” Dorcas said, stroking back your hair from your tear stained face. You sniffed, turning and finally facing her. The sun was barely peeking through the drawn curtains, a sliver of it landing right next to her.
“Sirius was right and I should’ve listened,” you said, wiping your eyes with the sleeve of your shirt. You were quite sure what he was right about. Maybe it was him telling you to stay away from the group of Slytherins you had been hanging out with, maybe it was when he insisted you not go out with his younger brother, or, possibly, it could’ve been when he warned you against going to a Christmas party at number 12 Grimmauld Place. “I was being stupid.”
“Don’t say that,” she said, sitting up and looking down at you. “Sirius was being an asshole and you couldn’t have known what would happen.”
But you should’ve known, you told yourself. You should’ve known that Regulus’ family would’ve reacted to you the way they did. You should’ve known that a Black family Christmas party would be full of death eaters and sympathizers. But Regulus should’ve known how dangerous bringing you actually was. Regulus should’ve known that leaving you alone to get drunk was a bad idea. He should’ve been the one comforting you now, not his friend who was now having to apologize for the actions of her housemates.
There was a knock at the door and Dorcas got up to answer it. She pulled it open just enough to peak her head out before pulling it open all the way and letting Pandora in. She smiled weakly at you.
“The boys are all having breakfast,” she said, leaning against the post at the end of the bed you were laying. Dorcas resumed her position next to you. “I can have Kreacher bring you something if you’d like.”
“Do they remember anything that went on last night?” Dorcas asked. Pandora bit her lip.
“I don’t think so.”
Regulus, Evan, and Barty decided to get shitfaced along with a few of their other pure blood friends in attendance, making the night even worse for you and the other two in trying to keep them out of trouble. Regulus was fun to be around when he got drunk at parties, not when you needed him to be there for you.
The night was supposed to be great. You knew from Sirius’ warnings that you should’ve managed your expectations better, but you couldn’t help but become excited at the idea of attending a high society party with your close friends and boyfriend. You, Dorcas, and Pandora spent the whole day getting ready- doing each other’s hair and makeup, helping each other into the dress robes you all had picked out days before. You were practically giddy with excitement by the time you made your way downstairs to see Regulus as the party guests began to arrive.
“You look beautiful, mon coeur,” he had told you once you appeared in front of him. You were both too enamored with each other to notice the disapproving looks of the passing blood purist.
The dinner was only moderately uncomfortable- you spent most of your time talking to Pandora, Regulus, and Barty as they were on either side and across from you. You tried to ignore the talk around you of blood status politics.
Even after the dinner when the boys began drinking and you, Dorcas, and Pandora gathered yourselves in a secluded corner, you weren’t exactly miserable yet. It wasn’t Walburga pulled the attention of the crowd by tapping her wand to the side of a metal goblet that your stomach filled with actual dread.
“Ladies and gentlemen, dearest friends, I would like to thank you for coming on this lovely night,” her voice echoed artificially throughout the entire house. “Tonight we celebrate many things, friends and family among those, but most of all, we celebrate unity under the Dark Lord.” Dorcas’ hand instinctively grabbed your arm and you could feel Pandora tense next to you.
“We should find Regulus,” the blonde whispered, discreetly scanning the room for the nearest exit. Walburga continued to ramble on about their mission and blood purity and the Dark Lord- you get the picture.
“I kindly ask all of you to make your way out to the courtyard for a holiday firework display,” Walburga’s voice echoed. You watched Abraxas Malfoy clear his throat from beside her and she quickly shot him one of her deadly looks. “The show was provided to us by the Malfoy family,” she said through gritted, pearl-white teeth.
You, Dorcas, and Pandora began to follow crowds towards the exits, stopping in a corridor just outside the entrance to the back courtyard where people were gathering.
“This way,” Pandora whispered, you and Dorcas trusting her as she led you down a hallway. The grand, arched windows provided enough of a view of the party guests outside that you could look from afar as the light show began. You were distracted with trying to find Regulus’ unruly mop of hair to notice the fireworks until you heard Dorcas gasp. What you saw made your blood run cold.
A glowing dark mark appeared in the sky, the snake slithering out of the skull’s mouth and around the rest of it before bursting into thousands of little beads of light which quickly began to form new shapes.
“They can’t be,” Dorcas said, dumbfounded by the horrendous display in front of her. “Not this outright, not this open.” Being in Slytherin meant she was used to small displays of loyalty to Voldemort, but nothing like this. This was bold, even for the Black family.
“We have to find Regulus,” you whispered, grabbing fistfuls of your dress and walking faster down the hall.
But you hadn’t found Regulus, at least, not until after it was too late. Him, Evan, and Barty were sitting outside on the ground, drunk out of their minds, and laughing at the glowing images in the air. Images of horrible, blood supremacist acts being committed, images of Dumbledore’s head on a stick, images of their beloved school being consumed by snakes coming directly out of the mouth of a dark mark. Reasonably, you knew they didn’t know what they were laughing at. Their eyes probably couldn’t even focus on what was right in front of them, let alone the lights a hundred feet up in the air.
But here you were in tears, at his house, at his family’s party, scared for your actual life, and he was happy and drunk. He wasn’t comforting you, he wasn’t trying to help you leave for the Potters’ through the floo network, he wasn’t doing anything except looking at you with that dopey smile that made you fall for him.
To say you were angry was an understatement. You were heartbroken. You were betrayed. He promised he’d stay by your side the whole night, and then there you were- you and your two friends sneaking through a house full of people who openly wanted you dead. Dorcas and Pandora stayed in the guest room you had been sleeping in that night with you and made sure to lock the door behind them when you got there. You all had trouble falling asleep that night- the horrific images played off as a hopeful firework display still fresh in your mind. And now here you were, crying in your bed because the boy who you defended to your other friends, who you fell in love with, had let you down in such an extreme way.
“There’s a fireplace in the kitchen we can use to go to Cas’ house,” Pandora offered. “I’ve used it before. We’d have to walk past them, that's the only thing.”
You sat up fully, brushing your hair over one shoulder to get it off your neck. “Like you said, Cas, I’ll have to face him at some point.”
You marched through the house, your bag in hand, the portraits that you had done your best to ignore the day before shouting obscenities at you. You didn’t think you could get any more upset, but when you entered the kitchen and Regulus’ face lit up, you could hardly stop your cheeks and neck from burning with- well, you weren’t sure what. It could’ve been anger, shame, flattery, or even sadness. It was probably sadness, you decided.
“Good morning, mon c- hey, what’re doing?” he stood up as you brushed past him, doing your best to avoid looking into his eyes. When his eyes fell to Pandora, she simply shook her head, silently telling him to let you leave. He didn’t listen, of course, he was a Black after all.
“Y/N, wait,” he said, placing a hand on your shoulder. You whipped around immediately, pushing his hand off of you. “Wha- what’s wrong?” he asked, shocked at what seemed to him as a sudden change in your mood. You could barely control your emotions as you looked at him. You felt the eyes of everyone in the room on you, making your skin crawl.
“You left me alone,” you muttered, barely loud enough for him to hear. You mentally cursed yourself at the childish sounding complaint.
“What?” he asked, a confused smile playing on his lips. Oh, the once so serious Regulus Black, now thinking everything was some kind of joke. The smile made your face burn- this time you knew from embarrassment- and you turned around again, making your way over to the fire place. “Y/N!” he said again, more sternly. “What’s going on?”
“You left me alone in a house full of people who very vocally want me dead, that’s what’s going on,” you finally exploded. “You left me to watch a firework display of people killing muggles, of people killing muggle-borns, of dark marks so you could party! I spent all night at a party all my friends told me not to go to- but I went anyway because you said it would be fun- listening to grown adults talk about wanting to wipe people like me off the face of the earth. And you weren’t there.”
Regulus stood there, frozen. His memory of the night prior was foggy, but he wouldn’t have done that, would he?
You scoffed at his silence and turned back around to the fireplace. You stepped in, taking a hand full of floo powder in your free hand.
“I’ll see you at your house, Cas,” you said, looking over Regulus’ shoulder. You looked back at him, still in front of you, still frozen. “Merry fucking Christmas, Reg.”
You threw the floo powder.
